Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Monthly Salary Over 10,000

Human Resources Manager’s Office.

Lu Li looked at the woman in her forties sitting behind the desk, feeling a twinge of excitement in his heart.

During his previous internship period, his monthly salary consisted of a base salary of 2,280 yuan, a 500-yuan full attendance bonus, and various benefits, totaling about 3,800 yuan per month.

According to the company’s regulations, if he became a regular employee, he could earn around 5,000 yuan.

Now that he got ”promoted,” his salary should increase significantly.

Lu Li didn’t know how much salary President Liu would offer him yet, so he was looking forward to it.

”Lu Li, the contract, I have already asked someone to draft it.”

The middle-aged woman glanced at the contract.

She looked up and said, ”Let me explain it to you in detail first.”

Lu Li quickly replied, ”Alright, thank you, Manager Zhu.”

Manager Zhu knew that Lu Li was now favored by the new boss and greeted him with a smile: ”No problem, let’s discuss the work first, and then we’ll talk about the compensation.”

Lu Li said, ”Please go ahead.”

Manager Zhu cleared her throat, ”President Liu just called and talked to me for a while. The general idea is to have you temporarily work as a copy editor. In the next few days, I will gather enough people for your project team from various departments or hire externally. At that time, you can leave the copy editing work and fully focus on live streaming sales for the company’s products. Is that okay with you?”

Lu Li busily replied, ”No problem.”

Manager Zhu continued, ”Besides, since you don’t have much work experience or management insights, President Liu instructed me to have you stay for extra training after work every day. It’s estimated to last for two hours daily, but sometimes President Liu might discuss live streaming content with you, which could require additional time.”

Nothing can be achieved overnight.

He indeed had no experience in management, requiring training.

Lu Li had no objections to this and responded, ”Alright.”

”Good, since you’re okay with the overtime, let’s talk about the compensation.”

Manager Zhu glanced down at the contract again, ”You will be in charge of live streaming sales, which, by function, makes you a team leader. In our company, salaries are generally based on seniority and position. You’ve been with the company for just over a month, so you lack seniority. Therefore, based on position, the basic salary for a team leader is 5,300 yuan. There’s a performance bonus of 10% of the base salary, which is 530 yuan, a position allowance of 500 yuan, a full attendance bonus of 1,000 yuan, as well as quarterly, year-end bonuses, and various holiday benefits.”

Without counting everything else, that’s 7,300 yuan a month?

This is essentially doubling his salary!

Lu Li felt extremely excited.

Manager Zhu continued discussing the compensation, ”The quarterly bonus is distributed every three months, around 6,000 to 7,000 yuan. The year-end bonus is generally double the monthly salary, and there are some other benefits as mentioned in the contract. Review it, and if you have no objections, you can sign the contract later.”

”Okay.”

Lu Li carefully reviewed the contract for a while.

He found that the salary and benefits mostly matched what Manager Zhu said, with a guaranteed 7,000-plus yuan per month.

If he distributed the quarterly and year-end bonuses across each month, he could consider himself earning over 10,000 a month.

And that’s assuming no overtime.

If he occasionally worked overtime, even without including the quarterly and year-end bonuses, he might still exceed 10,000 yuan per month.

Additionally, he found two interesting clauses in the contract.

The first is the annual issuance of 13 months’ salary, with a double salary at the end of the year.

This was something Manager Zhu didn’t mention earlier, probably because she forgot while saying so much.

The second is the sales commission. According to the contract, the company would allocate 20% of the live streaming sales revenue to the project team.

10% goes to the presenter.

Another 5% is split among other project team members.

The remaining 5% is for the project leader.

This means Lu Li can earn a 5% reward from the live streaming sales revenue.

He roughly understood why President Liu offered such generous rewards.

It’s all about wanting to retain the live streaming sales project team.

Especially the presenter and the leader, as they are of utmost importance; naturally, they receive excellent compensation.

Moreover, having a sales commission can further motivate the presenter and other project team members, benefiting the creation of higher value.

Lu Li pondered, if he could manage the live streaming sales well, perhaps he could earn more from commissions than from his salary each month.

This made him even more optimistic about managing the live streaming sales section.

In no time, Lu Li finished reading the contract, ”Basically no problem.”

Manager Zhu said, ”Good, then just sign as I instructed.”

Then, Lu Li signed the contract.

After signing it, he said goodbye to Manager Zhu and headed towards his department.

Walking through the administrative corridor.

Lu Li felt incredibly delighted.

Previously, he worked hard to earn just 3,800 yuan a month.

Now his salary almost doubled.

Adding the quarterly and year-end bonuses, his monthly salary would exceed 10,000 yuan.

Previously, Lu Li read a data survey report from Beijing Normal University.

It’s said that there are only eight million five hundred and fifty-four thousand people in our country with a monthly income exceeding ten thousand, which is about 0.6% of the total population.

Looking at it this way, this monthly salary surpasses 99% of the nation’s people.

Lu Li was momentarily overjoyed.

Just as he walked to the elevator,

he couldn’t help but put on a bitter face again, ”Oh, earning over ten thousand a month doesn’t mean much unless it’s in hand.”

While pressing the elevator button, Lu Li sighed inwardly, ”President Liu wants me to change into something more decent, but I only have a few dozen yuan left in my bank account. How can I afford new clothes?”

Got to think of a way to earn some extra cash.

Exactly how can I earn money quickly?

Lu Li pondered.

...

Back at the department office.

As soon as Lu Li stepped in, everyone who was working all looked up at him in unison.

Feeling a little unnerved by everyone’s gaze, he coughed and said, ”Why are you all looking at me?”

Brother Cheng, as Lu Li’s mentor at work, had the best relationship with him.

With a mischievous grin, he was the first to speak up, ”I didn’t realize you’ve got tricks up your sleeve. You actually impressed President Liu and got promoted. Xiaolu, now that you’ve been promoted, how about treating us all to a meal?”

It was evident that everyone had discussed this earlier, only voicing it through Brother Cheng.

”Yeah!” Xiaomei immediately added, ”I heard from Manager Wang that you’ve become the project leader, at the team leader level, right? Don’t be stingy, treat us to a meal.”

”You can’t skip this meal.”

”Don’t even think about avoiding us.”

Xiaoqing and the others started jeering.

Lu Li did want to treat everyone to a meal to celebrate his promotion.

The problem is, he doesn’t have any money on hand.

He blinked and used the delay tactic, saying, ”It’s no problem to treat, but I have to work overtime for training these few nights. How about I treat you later when things settle down?”

”As long as you agree, it’s fine.” Brother Cheng stood up, walked over to Lu Li, and put an arm around his shoulder, ”We won’t extort you, just find a small place for a meal; it will cost you at most a few hundred bucks.”

On the surface, Brother Cheng’s words were a reminder for Lu Li not to forget to treat, but in essence, he was protecting his apprentice.

There were about twenty people in the office. If they really went to an upscale restaurant, one table could cost one or two thousand; who knows how much the total would be?

After all, treating colleagues to a meal for a promotion is something you can’t avoid in a social environment.

By speaking up, he made it clear they weren’t going to let Lu Li be taken advantage of, essentially saving him money.

Lu Li naturally understood and whispered back, ”Thanks, Brother Cheng.”

”No need to thank me,” Brother Cheng whispered back, ”Honestly, I am genuinely happy for you being promoted in just over a month since joining the company. But I am really puzzled about your incredible luck, getting noticed and promoted by President Liu herself. I’ve been in this company for so many years and never had such a chance. Your luck knows no bounds. I suggest you buy a lottery ticket.”

Lu Li chuckled and said, ”Yeah, I’m just lucky, I...”

Halfway through his sentence, he suddenly showed a look of realization!

Buy a lottery ticket?

Lu Li finally thought of a way to earn some extra money!

What can a one-millimeter see-through eye do?

This was a question Lu Li had thought about for a long time without finding an answer.

One millimeter isn’t full x-ray vision, so betting on stones or the like is out of the question.

Lu Li didn’t have much social experience, and with betting on stones out of the equation, he really couldn’t think of any other way to make money with his see-through vision.

But after his earlier experience in President Liu’s office, using the one-millimeter see-through eye to view the contents under the paper and turn things around, and Brother Cheng’s mentioning ”buying a lottery ticket,” Lu Li immediately thought of the potential for making extra cash.

That’s right, buying lottery tickets.

Lu Li was sure that he couldn’t win delayed lottery draws like the Double Color Ball or Super Lotto.

Or rather, he thought even if someone could memorize the numbers and travel back, winning Double Color Ball or Super Lotto would still be extremely difficult.

For reasons which those in the know would understand.

However, lotteries are not limited to delayed draws like the Double Color Ball or Super Lotto.

There are also instant lotteries like Scratch-Off tickets!

Lu Li remembered that the thickness of scratch-off coatings is usually in the range of a few micrometers to several dozen micrometers, less than one millimeter.

And his see-through eye can see through one millimeter of thickness, so it didn’t seem too hard to see through the coating.

Lu Li had never bought a lottery ticket before, so it never crossed his mind. Fortunately, Brother Cheng inadvertently reminded him.

After all, people tend to have a weak memory of things they haven’t tried themselves.

He felt this path was feasible.

Now there was only one problem: the scratch-off coating is printed with multiple layers of special anti-counterfeiting ink, typically high-light blocking, anti-counterfeiting, and instrument-proof.

Lu Li wasn’t sure if his see-through eye could penetrate this kind of ink.

He decided to try it at a lottery store after work in the evening.

If it works, then jackpot!
