Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 288: Chapter 161: Equality Between Men and Women (First Update)

The flat is an apartment building, not a standalone villa, but its value is not lower than that of a standalone villa, and because of its good location, it’s even more expensive.

Kenneth Osborne has been planning to buy a house recently, so he is somewhat knowledgeable about various houses on the market.

The area of a flat is generally over 300 square meters, while smaller ones are around 250 square meters.

Anything less than 250 square meters cannot be called a flat.

It’s the kind of house that makes him dizzy just to take a look at.

Kenneth Osborne glanced at Lawrence Winters and softly asked, ”...Did your uncle buy it for you?”

”No.” Lawrence shook his head, denying it, and said with a smile, ”Actually it’s my master’s grandfather’s house, but it’s written in my name, because of the loan.”

Kenneth: ”...”

He couldn’t help but look at Nick Zeller, but Nick was just cheerfully drinking his small drink.

And Gabrielle Winters, she didn’t seem to find anything amiss either.

Kenneth thought and thought, and finally decided to remind them, ”If the loan is also in Nora’s name, then Nora is the primary debtor.”

Which means, if that seemingly unreliable master’s grandfather defaults, Lawrence will be legally responsible...

Gabrielle, although thinking such a possibility is unlikely, thought it wise to clear things up since Kenneth brought it up.

She gave Kenneth an appreciative look and said, ”The old immortal surely has a way, right?”

The old Daoist chuckled, pointing his chopsticks at Kenneth, ”Smart, I heard you’re also in business? Looks like you can definitely profit without loss.”

”Not really, just being cautious.” Kenneth responded lightly, feeling a bit stifled and unable to eat, he merely stirred his food with his chopsticks a couple of times before putting them down.

The old Daoist proudly said, ”I will cover fifty percent of the house’s price for the down payment, and transfer the monthly mortgage to the little disciple’s bank account. It’s not that I can’t afford to pay it all upfront, it’s just that my large sum of money is now invested in a highly profitable fund, earning much more each month than paying the mortgage.”

Kenneth: ”...”

He chuckled softly, nodding, ”The old immortal is quite financially savvy.”

Investing in funds with returns higher than mortgage rates, that rate of return must exceed the current interest rates.

And someone who understands how to do this is definitely not just an ”old immortal” who has been isolated in the mountains for decades.

The old Daoist, pleased with the compliment, said to Lawrence Winters, ”Lawrence, I’ll first send you some money, for the down payment and renovation costs.”

The amount is too large to be transferred directly via WeChat, it has to be processed at the bank.

Lawrence nodded repeatedly, ”I’ve taken a week off anyway, best we get this done this week.”

He then added, ”If we’re buying a pre-renovated second-hand house, we don’t need to do the renovations. You don’t need to transfer the renovation money to me just yet.”

”No worries, even if renovations aren’t needed, we still need to buy furniture. In short, having a new house will require money.” The old Daoist waved his hand decisively.

Kenneth found there was nothing more for him to do, stood up and said, ”Enjoy your meal, I’m heading back to my room.”

Gabrielle asked in surprise, ”...You haven’t finished eating, have you?”

”I’m full, not hungry today.” Kenneth smiled, turned, and left the dining room to his study.

Alone in the study, he turned on his computer, opening two pages side by side.

One was the house he chose, the other was the flat Lawrence and the others were considering.

The house had a good location, within the fourth ring, in a good school district, a newly decorated three-bedroom place totaling 130 square meters.

He even thought about the nursery.

But in comparison to that over 300 square meter flat, the master bedroom in his three-bedroom place was just as big as the other’s walk-in closet.

Having been used to living in a flat, would Lawrence be willing to live in this small three-bedroom with him?

For the first time, Kenneth wasn’t as confident in himself.

He hadn’t moved for a long time, sitting there with an empty mind.

The flat’s price spun in his mind, unless his company made a significant breakthrough in artificial intelligence and went public to become a hot enterprise, he could never afford such a house.

But every year, of so many startups, 99% fail.

Only 1% make it through and grow into big companies.

He has confidence in himself, but how could he ask Lawrence to endure this?

Endure it for over a decade, just to let Lawrence live in a house he’s already able to live in now.
