Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 259: Chapter 143: From 996 to 007 (Part 2)

”Eat, it’s delicious, you can’t get this in the Southern Region.” Lawrence Winters eagerly encouraged, picking up another piece with his chopsticks.

Kenneth Osborne saw this and poured the entire bowl of braised beef with green beans into his own bowl.

Lawrence Winters’ mouth twitched, but he ultimately didn’t fight him for it.

After Kenneth Osborne finished eating, Lawrence Winters had already finished and was chatting with someone on his phone.

Kenneth Osborne cleaned up the dishes and asked, ”Who are you chatting with?”

”Madline!” Lawrence clicked his tongue, ”See, you guys are all the same. Once you’ve got the girl, you don’t cherish her. Joyce Shaw is still working overtime and hasn’t gone home. Madline’s bored to death.”

”Madline works at a new media agency, much easier than Joyce Shaw’s job.” Kenneth Osborne was indifferent, ”Are you saying they’d stop caring once they’re together? He’s working hard to save up for their little home.”

Lawrence Winters rolled his eyes, ”But you can’t deny that if Joyce Shaw hadn’t won over Madline yet, he would still find time to meet the girl he likes, right?”

”Sure, but is it bad for a man to be ambitious?” Kenneth Osborne sat on the sofa next to her, crossing his legs, and casually placed an arm on the back of Lawrence’s seat.

Lawrence Winters didn’t even realize she was already in Kenneth Osborne’s arms.

She only felt comfortable in this position and comfortably rested her head on his arm, saying, ”It’s good for a man to be ambitious, but Madline said Joyce Shaw has been working overnight at the office all week.”

Kenneth Osborne was slightly stunned, ”He’s only been working two weeks, right?”

”Yeah, at that Victory Wise Corporation.” Lawrence clicked his tongue again, ”Kenneth, lucky you didn’t go to that company, or you’d have to live there every day. If he’s working like this just a short time into the job, what about the future? Compared to this 007 schedule, working 996 is indeed a blessing... the capitalists were not lying.”

Kenneth Osborne laughed, ruffling her hair, ”Where did you get all these wild ideas? It’s probably just a busy period. Joyce Shaw is very thorough and meticulous; Spencer Group is lucky to have him.”

Lawrence Winters nodded, smiling, ”Got it, I’ll talk to Madline. You can’t have her man working hard outside while she’s so lonely she cheats...”

”Don’t talk nonsense; Madline isn’t that kind of person.” Kenneth Osborne hadn’t interacted much with Lawrence’s roommates, but he was good at reading people.

”I was just joking around; we often joke like that.” Lawrence quickly explained, ”I know Madline wouldn’t do that.”

”Madline comes from a family such that even if she goes out to a club, she’ll insist on being home by eight-thirty. Asking her to come home by ten is like asking for her life.” Lawrence laughed, typing swiftly to comfort Madline.

Madline hadn’t actually complained about Joyce Shaw constantly working overtime; she was just worried about him.

Though they’re young and can handle the workload now, isn’t this too much?

Especially since he’s just started working and is already doing this much overtime. What about the future?

Madline ended up calling Lawrence Winters, saying, ”Lawrence, you don’t know how stingy his company is. They need more people but refuse to hire, saying their standards are too high and can’t find anyone suitable. They treat the few new hires like workhorses, and he’s doing the work of five people. How can he not be exhausted?”

Lawrence Winters was shocked, ”Why don’t they hire more people? I can’t believe they wouldn’t find the right people if they offered enough pay.”

”Exactly, how can they expect the horse to run without feeding it? If they paid well enough, wouldn’t they be able to attract talent?” Madline scoffed along, ”Spencer Group boasts about their wealth, yet they’re unwilling to pay high wages for new hires.”

Kenneth Osborne listened quietly beside them for a while, then got up and went to his room. He took out his phone and called Joyce Shaw.

At that moment, Joyce Shaw was alone in the company’s lab running programs.

The phone rang, and seeing it was Kenneth Osborne’s call, he quickly answered, ”Oh, Kenneth! How are you? Long time no see! Hahaha!”

He sounded a bit tired and hoarse but still spirited.

Kenneth Osborne smiled and asked, ”Where are you?”

”Where else? Overtime, of course!” Joyce Shaw looked at the nighttime view outside and complained, ”The Spencer Group’s Northern branch office is too far from the Capital City, beyond the seventh ring. It takes two hours to drive home! So lately, if it’s too late, I don’t go home and just crash here for the night,” he said with a yawn.

”That’s too far.” Kenneth Osborne was slightly taken aback, ”Don’t they want to move the office to the city center? Lots of work?”

”Should be soon.” Joyce stretched his hands, intertwined his fingers, and pushed forward to stretch his tired arm muscles while talking, ”Believe it or not, our entire company, including Thomas, is just four people.”

”Thomas is the CTO, and there’s a CFO.”

”I’m the Technical Director, and the fourth person is a receptionist.”

”So essentially, I’m the only one doing the work.”

”Thomas has been busy convincing the CEO to acquire small companies. They’ve been discussing which ones to buy. I overhear them, but I don’t understand a thing. I’m just a tech guy, clueless about capital operations.”

Kenneth Osborne laughed, ”If you get the chance, learning a bit about capital operations wouldn’t be bad....”

”Haha, it’s not like they would teach you just because you want to learn,” Joyce Shaw smirked, ”Anyway, my program just finished running. It’s still early, only nine-thirty. I’ll drive home now, and I’ll be back by eleven-thirty. I haven’t seen Madline for a week and I miss her.”

Kenneth Osborne didn’t expect to get a serving of dog food while trying to comfort an old classmate with a phone call.

He quietly hung up and looked over at Lawrence Winters chatting animatedly with Madline, only to find her smile blindingly bright.

His hand reached out uncontrollably to pinch her peachy cheeks, his fingers lovingly squeezing and pinching at the plumpness.
