Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 267: Chapter 148: You May Not Believe This

Lawrence Winters was very surprised, ”So young Mr. Fu took over the company at eighteen? No wonder, no wonder...”

”Yeah, he grew up abroad and only returned for college, unlike men who grew up here,” Zoe Johnson said with a slight bitter smile. ”You saw today, he works very methodically, and won’t hesitate to turn hostile. He’s not one for sentimentality.”

”First, his family background means he doesn’t need to be sentimental, and second, the education he received was about dealing with things matter-of-factly, leaning more towards a foreign way of handling things.”

Lawrence Winters gave a slight smirk and said, ”That’s not necessarily true. Plenty of foreigners are sentimental too. Young Mr. Fu’s style is like the foolish son of a landlord...”

Zoe Johnson was taken aback for a moment, then couldn’t help but laugh, ”Miss Wen, you really have a way with words.”

”Don’t call me Miss Wen, it feels odd,” Lawrence Winters said, resting her hands on the arms of the chair, ”Just call me Lawrence. Also, don’t mimic others by calling me Teacher Wen. I don’t get you entertainment people, how everyone can be called a teacher...”

Zoe Johnson laughed, ”Isn’t it weird to call someone Sir or Miss? Plus, Miss has been stigmatized, so we can only use teacher.”

”Keep calling people that, and eventually teacher will get stigmatized too.” Lawrence Winters shrugged, ”Right, weren’t you going to discuss Lucas Harlow’s artist contract with me?”

Zoe Johnson nodded, ”You must have already signed a management contract with him, right?”

”Yeah, just got it hot off the press,” Lawrence Winters nodded with a smile.

”In fact, Lucas Harlow is quite unique in our company,” Zoe Johnson said with a half-smile, watching Lawrence Winters closely, trying to gauge whether she had a special relationship with Lucas Harlow or with young Mr. Fu.

No way she’s two-timing, right?

If she really could handle both, then Zoe Johnson would admire her as a true hero!

Truth is, Zoe Johnson’s sense of justice wasn’t that strong, as evident in how she used Becca to try to mess with Lawrence Winters.

But she wasn’t entirely a bad person; she admired strength like many others.

If Lawrence Winters could keep both Lucas Harlow and young Mr. Fu at her beck and call, Zoe Johnson would be full of admiration.

She looked at Lawrence Winters, but found no particular expression on her face, only focused listening.

”Why aren’t you speaking?” Lawrence Winters raised an eyebrow, ”What’s so special about Lucas Harlow?”

”Oh, well, his artist contract, I’ve never seen it,” Zoe Johnson shrugged, ”Weird, right? I’m his agent, but the contract he signed with the company isn’t archived at the artist management office.”

Lawrence Winters was a bit interested now, leaning forward slightly, her eyes brightened, her questions carrying a strange allure that was hard to resist: ”...As his agent, you haven’t seen his artist contract? Then you don’t know his profit-sharing ratio either?”

Zoe Johnson: ”...Profit-sharing ratio? You only care about the profit-sharing ratio?”

”Yeah, what else should I care about?” Lawrence Winters expressed confusion, ”Gossip about his family? Personal gossip? Sorry, I don’t care about any of that. As his new agent, I only care about his profit-sharing ratio with the company because that affects my commission.”

Zoe Johnson was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter, ”You’re amazing! Seeing you so focused on money, I guess Lucas Harlow won’t even be able to slack off if he wants to now, right?”

”Naturally.” Lawrence Winters smiled slightly, ”Sister Zhao, you’ve been too good to him, listening to him for everything, which allowed him to stumble along in the entertainment industry for so many years.”

”Honestly, if you don’t want to be famous, why stay in the entertainment industry? Wouldn’t it be better to make room for other actors who do want fame?”

Zoe Johnson clicked her tongue twice, ”Alright, I really look forward to seeing how you make him famous.”

”I’ve got my own tricks,” Lawrence Winters teased, continuing to ask, ”What else? Anything else special about Lucas Harlow I should know?”

Zoe Johnson hesitated for a moment, thought for a while, and then subtly said, ”Lucas Harlow seems to have a rather unusual relationship with young Mr. Fu’s family. I once saw at the company’s annual party, Mrs. Fu talking to Lucas Harlow very comfortably as if they were old family friends...”

Lawrence Winters’ eyes flickered lightly, ”Familiar with Mrs. Fu? Then is he familiar with Mr. Fu too?”

”Of course he’s familiar with Mr. Fu, but NewHuman Corporation is Mr. Fu’s company, so there’s nothing strange about him, as an artist of NewHuman Corporation, being familiar with Mr. Fu, is there?” Zoe Johnson didn’t quite understand Lawrence Winters’ point.
