Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 262: Chapter 145: A Feast for the Eyes (Third Update)

Lawrence Winters also saw it at the company.

She hadn’t had lunch yet. Seeing that post on social media, she felt full.

Unexpectedly, Kenneth Osborne gloatingly sent her a WeChat message: Nora, do you want a Chanel bag next month?

Lawrence Winters replied grumpily: Thank you, but I can buy it myself.

Saying that, she opened Chanel’s official website to check the prices.

After looking, she decided, I’d better go have lunch. A full stomach won’t have unrealistic fantasies.

Feeling provoked by a social media influencer, Lawrence Winters decided to have a good meal at the restaurant downstairs.

The company had great perks, giving out a hundred-yuan meal voucher every day, usable at a few designated restaurants in the building.

However, the hundred yuan is only valid for one day, and it expires if not used.

So you can’t save them up for a feast.

Lawrence Winters tidied up her desk, locked her computer, and walked out with her affordable yet chic Coach bag.

Walking down the corridor, a short man with stylish granny-gray hair suddenly jumped out, pointing at Lawrence Winters and asking, ”Are you ’A promise worth a thousand gold pieces’?!”

Lawrence Winters took a closer look: Where did this frog spirit come from? Especially with those frog sunglasses indoors...

”Excuse me, who might you be?” Although she was mocking inside, she maintained surface-level politeness, asking courteously.

”It’s Jason! Lucas’s assistant!” Jason was extremely excited.

He had long known about ”A promise worth a thousand gold pieces” and had seen several different photos, but it was his first time meeting her in person today!

”Beautiful! Truly beautiful! ’A promise worth a thousand gold pieces’, you should become a celebrity! Why be a spokesperson? It’s so boring!” As Jason spoke, he was about to pat Lawrence Winters’s shoulder.

Lawrence Winters quickly shifted, barely avoiding Jason’s hand, but still politely extended her hand, saying, ”Nice to meet you, I’ve heard so much about you.”

She made a handshake gesture, but since Jason’s arm was still raised in the air, she withdrew her hand, seemingly avoiding the handshake altogether.

It looked as if Jason didn’t intend to shake hands with her.

Jason was thrown off by her movement and quickly apologized, ”Ah! Sorry... sorry... I didn’t see it, I just didn’t see it then! Can we shake hands now?”

Lawrence Winters shook her head with a smile, ”No need, it’s fine. By the way, you’re back from vacation, so where’s Mr. Harlow?”

”Of course, he’s back too!” Jason waved his hand, just as Lucas Harlow approached.

He smiled at Lawrence Winters and extended his hand, ”Promise worth a thousand gold pieces? Nice to meet you.”

Lucas Harlow was wearing a white suit today.

Most modern men look affected and dated in a white suit.

But Lucas Harlow was different. In his white suit, he was the epitome of ”a gentleman, graceful and imposing.”

Lawrence Winters’s eyes lit up, her heart pounding with joy. She immediately stepped forward and shook his hand, even giving it a shake, smiling as she said, ”Mr. Harlow, don’t forget our agreement!”

She had been waiting a long time!

Waiting to become Lucas’s agent so she could buy herself a bag!

Lucas Harlow nodded, ”I haven’t forgotten. I came to the company today precisely for this matter.”

Jason looked suspiciously at Lawrence Winters, then at Lucas Harlow, ”What are you talking about? Is there something I don’t know?”

Lawrence Winters smiled without speaking.

Lucas Harlow looked at his watch and said, ”It’s lunchtime, have you eaten yet? Want to have lunch together?”

Lawrence Winters’s eyes twinkled, instantly agreeing, ”Sure, sure! I was just about to eat at the restaurant downstairs. The company gave us a hundred yuan meal ticket...”

Pfft—!

Before she finished speaking, Jason had already laughed aloud.

He pointed at Lawrence Winters, shaking with laughter, ”You, you! Do you really want our Master Harlow to eat at the basic restaurant downstairs?! A hundred yuan wouldn’t even cover an appetizer!”

Lawrence Winters blushed, not out of embarrassment, but annoyance.

What’s so funny about that?

Being rich is impressive, but there’s no need to flaunt it in front of us ”poor folks”...

Behavior like that is really low.

Lawrence Winters glanced disdainfully at Jason, saying calmly, ”Hmm, we working-class people find a hundred-yuan lunch quite luxurious. Jason, with all your wealth, you don’t need to join us and make a fuss.”

Lucas Harlow noticed she was upset, smiled slightly, and said to Jason, ”You can go back. There’s nothing much today. I’ll drive myself back to the set after finishing the paperwork.”

Jason too realized Lawrence Winters was unhappy and felt awkward. He apologized again, ”I’m so sorry, ’A promise worth a thousand gold pieces’, I didn’t mean it. It’s just that with Master Harlow’s status, eating at the downstairs restaurant would draw a crowd. Would you still want to eat in peace?”

Seeing that things were smoothing over, Lawrence Winters smiled and said, ”If that’s the case, then never mind. I’ll eat on my own and finish the paperwork afterwards.”

After taking a few steps, she turned back to Jason and said, ”My name is Lawrence Winters, please don’t call me ’reliable as gold’ anymore.”

”Oh.” Jason nodded instinctively, glanced at Lucas Harlow, and said in confusion, ”Reliable as gold... no, Lawrence Winters has quite an aura...”

”She’s the company’s spokesperson for the PR department and will be my manager in the future. It’s good to have some presence.” Lucas rolled his eyes at Jason, ”Unlike you, always embarrassing me.”

Jason was furious, jumping and saying, ”Lucas! You’ve changed! You’ve got a new heart! I’m no longer your little darling! You never used to care about these things!”

Lucas chuckled, ”You were never my little darling, stop giving yourself so much credit.”

He walked quickly to catch up with Lawrence Winters and said, ”I didn’t bring my meal ticket, can you share half with me?”

”My ticket’s only enough for an appetizer, Mr. Lucas...” Lawrence said with a half-smile, looking ahead, ”Besides, shouldn’t you be treating me instead?”

”Makes sense, I’ll treat you then.” Lucas chuckled softly, whispering in her ear, ”Don’t be mad, I’ve already taught Jason a lesson for you. That kid’s been with me for so long, getting a bit unruly, he needs to be taught a lesson.”

”Don’t...” Lawrence hurriedly waved her hand, smiling, ”This is between you two, don’t say it’s because of me. I won’t take the blame.”

Lucas straightened up, looked at her with meaning, and said, ”But you’ll be my manager in the future, Jason’s just my assistant. His work will be directed by you, his superior. Can’t I step in and manage him for you?”

Lawrence burst out laughing, approached and pressed the elevator button, ”Alright, consider this the last time you manage him, from now on he’s under my control.”

”Yes, I hope you can manage him well. He’s a good person, just likes to show off his cleverness and is quite lazy.”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

She glanced up at Lucas, ”You call that good? You’ve been so laid back for so many years, he’s just become lazy by nature. Otherwise, with your talent, why aren’t you famous after all these years?”

Lucas squinted slightly, saying, ”Well, actually, it’s not his fault, it’s because I...”

Lawrence’s heart skipped a beat, she looked up at Lucas again, but saw he had already calmly continued, ”...don’t like to show off.”

”Don’t like to show off?” Lawrence was astonished, ”No wonder you’re not famous. Think about it, everyone in the entertainment industry is super crafty, doing everything to get famous. I’m telling you, once I become your manager, you can’t be laid back anymore.”

Lucas walked into the elevator with her, pressed the floor button, and said, ”What if I still want to be laid back?”

”Then I’ll have to wield my little whip!” Lawrence winked at him playfully, ”Aren’t you my Lucas darling? How can you not listen to me? Hmm?”

Her beauty was unparalleled, especially captivating when she smiled.

Lucas glanced at her once and quickly withdrew his gaze, not daring to look longer.

They arrived at the restaurant downstairs, Lawrence still mindful of Lucas’s celebrity status, requested a private room.

It wasn’t very crowded for lunch, so the restaurant agreed, even though they only ordered two set meals.

But even the set meals here were more upscale than elsewhere.

When lunch arrived, Lucas was about to start eating with chopsticks, Lawrence stopped him, taking out her phone and saying, ”Let me take a picture first.”

She took photos of both plates from four or five angles, took a shot of Lucas, then another of his hand holding chopsticks.

Once she had nine photos, she posted them on her social media.

”I thought I’d be full from everyone else’s romance, but seeing such delicious food, I’m still hungry. It’s true what the ancients said, beauty is a feast for the eyes!”

The images included six food shots, two hand photos, and one of Lucas’s face.

Lawrence added a strong beauty filter to Lucas’s photo, using a nostalgic filter, making him look like a gentleman walking out of ancient times.

Perfectly matched by the white suit he wore today, enhancing his appearance.

Mad Woman was first to like, excitedly screaming.

[Mad Woman]: Ahhh! Lawrence, you’re not fair! Are you having lunch with Lucas Harlow?! Drooling.JPG.

[Lawrence]: You can show off your romance, but us single folks can’t reclaim some single pride??? Proud.JPG.

Sister Three Billion surprisingly gave her a like and left a comment.

[Sister Three Billion]: Is it really Lucas Harlow? Lawrence, you’ve realized a dream, having lunch with your idol doesn’t count as a real winner! Your goal should be higher, when you sleep with your idol, that’s truly stunning!

[Lawrence]: Sister Three Billion, are you a demon?! How can you say such embarrassing things at lunch? Say it at night when it’s quiet... Shy.JPG.

She was chatting happily with friends when she suddenly noticed her mom had commented too.

Lawrence’s heart tightened, oh no, forgot to block her mom!

And her uncle and Kenneth Osborne!

In a panic, she saw three new comments appearing under her post.

[Mom]: Lawrence, who are you having lunch with? This man looks familiar, but not as good as Arend.

[Uncle]: Lawrence! You’ve changed after starting work, such a flirt! Not what I taught you! Fury.JPG.

[Kenneth]: ....

Kenneth Osborne said nothing, but the ellipsis spoke volumes.

Lawrence felt inexplicably flustered.
