Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 246: Chapter 139: Making an Impression (Second Major Update)

NewHuman Entertainment Ltd. is a company under the Foster Consortium, located on the 28th floor of the Foster Building.

Lawrence Winters has been working here for four days now, and today is the fifth day, Friday.

On her first day, Edward Foster happened to have business abroad, so he instructed his secretary to help Lawrence with the onboarding procedures.

With the help of Edward Foster’s secretary, her onboarding process went fairly smoothly.

However, after the procedures were completed, she was left to fend for herself.

For the first four days of the week, she had no work to do.

Besides browsing Weibo every day and keeping an eye on the company artists, she busied herself setting up her office.

By the way, her office only had a desk and a computer chair, with nothing else in it.

During these four days, she set everything up bit by bit on her own.

These days she truly became a ”manual laborer.”

From the assembly of a file cabinet, to two half-circle fabric sofas, a chaise lounge by the floor-to-ceiling window, a round coffee table, a bookshelf against the wall, and several pots of green plants on top of the bookshelf, she transported everything herself from the utility room with a small cart.

Everyone in the other departments, from employees to directors, artists from the eighteenth tier to top-line celebrities, watched her with amusement, but no one offered to help.

Sometimes Lawrence thought, if she didn’t know Lucas was here, she would really think she had come to the Spencer Group’s PR department!

She had considered asking for help with the moving, but even the reception secretary shirked the responsibility, saying she couldn’t ”pull strings” to let the movers come up to the 28th floor.

Because they needed a special access card for that floor, otherwise they couldn’t come up.

Lawrence could have ignored this difficulty, but considering she was new and not familiar with the situation, and after all, the furniture she looked at were office supplies, not solid wood, they weren’t heavy at all.

She had some training, not as strong as a man, but moving these small office furniture items was more than doable.

So for these four days, she treated it as exercise, slowly setting up her office like a little hamster all on her own.

The last thing she needed to do today was to ask the reception to order some curtains for her.

This should have been done a long time ago, but since the windows had blinds, she hadn’t bothered for the time being.

As she stepped out of the elevator, she bumped into Zoe Johnson, who was just about to leave.

Zoe was the manager who once tried to recruit her and Kenneth Osborne to join NewHuman Corporation as artists.

She was also the manager that Lawrence once disliked very much.

Because when Lucas was under her management, she didn’t put any effort into planning his career, almost wasting such a talented artist.

But she wouldn’t be smug for long; soon, Lucas would become her ”cash cow!”

Lawrence greeted Zoe with a smile and said, ”Zoe, heading out?”

Zoe glanced at her with a complicated expression, then smiled and said, ”Oh, the spokesperson is here? I knew it, you have a connection with our NewHuman Company, hahaha!”

Both of them feigned friendliness, each acting more enthusiastic and warm than the other, but in their hearts, they wished the other would just drop dead.

Ever since Zoe accidentally found out that Lucas might be transferred to Lawrence’s management, she had been very uneasy.

When Lucas was under her command, she didn’t pay much attention but didn’t neglect him either.

She never imagined that Lucas would suddenly rise to fame, and it was the girl in front of her who ”made him famous”!

If Lucas therefore transferred to Lawrence, the impact on other artists would be considerable...

She couldn’t let that happen.

Zoe stepped into the elevator, turned around, and seeing Lawrence still standing politely aside, suddenly gave her a peculiar smile and said, ”Spokesperson, was your first week’s work comfortable?”

Lawrence blinked slightly, looking closely at Zoe’s face.

Just as she finished looking, the elevator doors slowly closed.

Lawrence shrugged, said nothing, and turned to walk toward her own office.

Her position as an external spokesperson at NewHuman Corporation was neither high nor low, about the same as a junior manager at an ordinary company.

For a fresh graduate with a bachelor’s degree, it was already a pretty good start.

This position had no subordinates, and she didn’t need to manage anyone.

Her direct superior was the PR director Warren, who was said to be on vacation these days; she hadn’t seen him yet.

She walked into her office, sat down, turned on her computer, and then dialed the office manager responsible for miscellaneous affairs on the internal line, ”Director Hao, could you come over for a moment?”
