Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 224: Chapter 128: Poverty Limits Her Ability to Complain

”Why? Because companies like this don’t have any standout features, they’re not suitable for concept speculation. As they say, ’cannot tell a good story.’”

Spring Spencer gasped, ”Dad, you understand English?!”

Cameron Spencer: ”...”

”In your mind, am I just an old-fashioned mudfoot who can only build houses?” Cameron Spencer said amusingly, ”I can send you abroad for studies, so why can’t I hire a foreign language tutor for myself?”

”Dad, you’re amazing!” Spring Spencer admired Cameron Spencer from the bottom of her heart, ”Where did you learn all this?”

”Where did I learn it? Of course, from work. During the stock market crash, Spencer Group was able to come out unscathed; your father turned gray in the process.” Cameron Spencer said with emotion, ”Now I’m handing the company over to you siblings. You’re all still young and not quite ready to take on great responsibilities.”

”But if I don’t give you the opportunity to train, you’ll never be able to take on those responsibilities.”

”So while I can still move, I’ll first let you experience the beating of the stock and capital markets. Once you’re beaten to submission, I can officially retire.”

Cameron Spencer spoke with such emotion that he almost moved himself to tears.

Spring Spencer’s eyes reddened, ”Dad, I understand your intentions, and I won’t let you down!”

”Yeah, just reading books isn’t enough. You also have to learn on the job, consult the older board members often. Even though they’re old and many haven’t been to college, they survived the stock and capital markets through real and tough battles. What they learned from real conflict is more than what you’d learn at a top international business school, and much more practical.”

Spring Spencer quickly said, ”Dad, rest assured, I know this. Those uncles are really impressive. Several of their business cases showed up in our professors’ textbooks while we were studying abroad.”

”Good, as long as you know. Anyway, you need to get that AI company up and running. We missed out on Kenneth Osborne before, and we must make up for that loss now.”

Cameron Spencer continued to impart his experience to Spring Spencer, ”And with the SSA Private Equity Fund making a comeback and choosing Kenneth Osborne’s small company for the first round of angel investment, it proves that the AI direction you chose is the right one. You have to put a lot of effort into this area, understand?”

Spring Spencer suddenly saw the light and immediately said, ”I understand, I’ll focus more on promoting our AI company in the financial report.”

”Yes, you also have to find a replacement, someone better than Kenneth Osborne, to offset the impact of losing him, got it?”

Spring Spencer was a bit troubled at this moment, ”Finding someone better than Kenneth Osborne isn’t impossible, but those people have either achieved success and have their companies or aren’t in business—maybe they’re big shots abroad.”

”Haha, that’s not my concern. I’m just sure that the new development direction you chose is right, but as for how to do it specifically, I have no ideas—you need to think about it carefully yourself.”

With Cameron Spencer’s words, Spring Spencer couldn’t bother to talk about Molly Zimmerman and Justus Spencer.

After hanging up the phone, she started rewriting the financial report about ”AI,” a new investment target of the Spencer Group.

Because that small company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Spencer Group, its data and operations will be included in the consolidated financial report when it is released.

...

After Cameron Spencer finished the phone call with Spring Spencer, he lay down on the recliner for a while, closing his eyes to rest.

Soon after, Justus Spencer called him again.

Cameron Spencer closed his eyes and communicated with him using a Bluetooth headset.

”Justus, are you feeling better? Have you caught the person who attacked you?”

Justus Spencer quickly said, ”Dad, I’m much better. Jenny’s parents helped us investigate, and we hope to catch the person who attacked me soon.”

”You have no clue at all?” Cameron Spencer asked calmly, ”Are you not aware if you’ve made any enemies?”

”Dad, besides work, I’m with Jenny. I don’t mess around with women outside, so where would I get enemies? Or maybe a business competitor wants to take me out? But that doesn’t make sense—I’m just a COO. Even if they get rid of me, Spencer Group would just appoint another COO. No competitor would be that stupid, right?”

Justus Spencer did not believe it was trouble he had caused.

Cameron Spencer opened his eyes, agreeing with his logic, nodded, and said, ”Alright then, wait for your in-laws to help you investigate. But you need to be more careful on your own—I’ve told Old Li to assign more bodyguards to you. Besides the four in the open, we’ll add another eight in secret.”
