Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 208: Chapter 120: Nice to Meet You, Please Take Care of Me (Second of Two, Extra-Long)

Lawrence Winters couldn’t help but fall into his professional habit and closely examined her face.

This woman had somewhat Western features, but it wasn’t the kind that amalgamated mixed heritage; it was more like her facial features were pronounced, especially her nose. When she smiled charmingly, she reminded one of the little princess played by Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday.

Of course, the little princess had aged and appeared more luxurious and dignified.

Even her hairstyle was cut in the Hepburn style, making her look at least ten years younger.

Standing next to Edward Foster, she seemed more like his sister.

But Lawrence Winters could tell that she should be Edward Foster’s mother, not his sister of the same generation. However, the mother-son bond between them seemed rather distant.

Just then, Edward turned around, affectionately draped his arm over the shoulder of the middle-aged woman, and said with a smile, ”Mom, let me introduce you. This is Miss Lawrence Winters, our newly recruited external spokesperson for the PR department at NewHuman Entertainment Ltd., under the Foster Consortium! A top graduate from the Metropolitan North University’s public relations department!”

Then he said to Lawrence Winters, ”This is my mom, she’s been living abroad for many years. She’s an internationally renowned violinist!”

Lawrence Winters actually knew nothing about the violin, but in such a situation, she knew how to handle it. She quickly said, ”Really?! So you’re Mrs. Foster, hello. Pleased to meet you, please take care of me.”

Mrs. Foster was a bit surprised at Lawrence Winters, scrutinizing her with a smile, ”Are you a graduate of Metro North? Good, good, good. With you helping Edward, I feel more at ease. — Edward, you need to focus on your work from now on, don’t mix with those celebrities.”

Edward Foster suddenly felt an inexplicable panic and quickly said, ”Mom, what are you talking about? When have I ever mixed with celebrities? It’s my job! Work! — I run an entertainment company, and film production is the main thing!”

”I know, I’m just reminding you. Why are you in such a hurry?” Mrs. Foster laughed as she enjoyed her son’s rare anxious expression and turned even more warmly to Lawrence Winters, ”Miss Winters, right? When will you start working?”

”I haven’t graduated yet. I’ll get my graduation and degree certificates in July and join in August.” Lawrence Winters replied modestly.

”Still a student, huh? No wonder you’re different from others.” Mrs. Foster gave Edward a meaningful look, noted his uncomfortable demeanor, then refrained from teasing him further, saying to Lawrence Winters, ”Are you also here to get your car serviced? We just sent ours off and are waiting for a driver to pick us up; I can have the driver give you a lift wherever you need to go.”

Lawrence Winters shook her head, ”Thank you, Mrs. Foster, but I’m here accompanying a friend to buy a car. The paperwork’s not done yet; please go ahead if you’re busy.”

Edward Foster exclaimed, ”Oh, so you lied to me! Didn’t you say you were here to service your car?!”

”When did I ever say that? Mr. Foster, there are surveillance cameras here. Should we check the footage?” Lawrence Winters joked, implying that she had perhaps only slightly misled him.

Recollecting Lawrence’s previous words, Edward realized with surprise that he remembered everything she said in detail—an extraordinary feat for him.

Although he had done well in school, his memory had never been exceptional. Now, faced with Lawrence Winters, his memory had improved significantly.

Edward laughed heartily, ”You little mischief! Daring to mislead me!”

”No, I didn’t! I was not! Don’t talk nonsense!” Lawrence quickly denied in a threefold manner.

The manner in which Edward spoke seemed too informal, making Lawrence uncomfortable.

”What are you guys doing?”

Just then, two male voices rang out one after the other.

Lawrence Winters turned her head to see Kenneth Osborne coming out.

Mrs. Foster turned to see her husband coming over.

Edward immediately said, ”Dad, you’re here so soon?”

The person who arrived was none other than the middle-aged man both Lawrence Winters and Kenneth had met once before: Edward Foster’s father, the chairman and president of the Foster Consortium.

Lawrence Winters quickly said, ”Hello, Mr. Foster.”

Mr. Foster nodded at her, his gaze briefly passing over Kenneth’s face before looking at his wife.

Mrs. Foster nodded back at him, then suddenly spotted Kenneth Osborne, getting startled, then patting her chest and laughing, ”Is this Miss Winters’ friend? Quite a handsome gentleman indeed.”

Kenneth Osborne looked at Lawrence, saying lightly, ”What’s wrong? Gone for a while, and you’ve made more friends?”

Lawrence Winters suppressed her laughter and introduced him one by one, ”This is Mr. Foster, my future boss. These are Mr. and Mrs. Foster, his parents and my future superiors.”

Then she introduced Kenneth to the Fosters, her voice unconsciously filled with pride, ”This is Kenneth Osborne, my childhood friend, and also a student at Metro North.”

It was the first time Edward Foster met Kenneth Osborne, and he immediately felt alarmed, starting to feel sorry for Lucas Harlow.

Why is it that all good girls have their childhood sweethearts?

And he’s so handsome!

Edward Foster had never felt inferior because of his appearance, but today, in front of Kenneth, he felt slightly uneasy.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Foster gave Kenneth a glance, forming a good impression of him, smiling and nodding in greeting.

Kenneth also nodded lightly, smiling as he said, ”We won’t disturb your family time any longer. Nora and I still have some things to do, so excuse us.”

With that, he took Lawrence’s hand and headed toward the parking lot of the 4S store.

His new car was waiting for him to drive it away at the back of the parking lot.

On this side, Edward Foster’s gaze hadn’t wavered, he stared at Lawrence’s departing back, lost in thought.

Mrs. Foster softly said to Mr. Foster, ”Look at our son today...”

Mr. Foster chuckled, ”Walking too much on a dark path always leads you to meet ghosts. When he was smoothly navigating through so many girlfriends, I guessed he’d face a day like this.”

Mrs. Foster looked at him with a smirk, ”You can’t say that, our Mr. Foster had his fair share of girlfriends back then and did just fine, didn’t you?”

”That’s because I met you.” Mr. Foster took Mrs. Foster’s hand, saying affectionately, ”The greatest joy of my life was marrying you.”

”Oh my! Can you two not be so mushy?!” Edward, unable to listen any longer, said, ”I’ll head out first, you two go enjoy your time! And give me a younger sibling, please, and stop pestering me about going on blind dates!”

With that, he took large strides out of the 4S store, hailed an app-based cab, and left.

Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne had left first on this side, with Kenneth driving Lawrence to a restaurant nearby.

He dropped Lawrence off at the front of the restaurant and went to find a parking spot.

Lawrence waited idly, her hands in her coat pockets, for Kenneth to return.

At that moment, a tall, slender middle-aged man also walked up quickly, head down and in a hurry, almost bumping into Lawrence.

Lawrence quickly stepped aside, and the middle-aged man apologized, ”I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention.”

”It’s all right,” Lawrence said, noticing the man’s face, she let out a soft ”hmm,” and said, ”You shouldn’t go southwest today, you might encounter a disaster.”

The man turned back in surprise, looking at Lawrence and bursting into laughter, pointing at her, and laughing so hard he struggled to catch his breath, ”Such a pretty young lady, of all things, you choose to fortune tell! Miss you...”

Before he could finish his sentence, a young man suddenly dashed over from across the street, heading straight into the restaurant.

The middle-aged man’s reflexes weren’t nimble, as he didn’t react in time and got knocked head-on by the young man, immediately causing a nosebleed.

Lawrence Winters: ”...”.

A short-haired, burly man rushed out from the restaurant instantly, quickly shielding the nosebleeding middle-aged man behind him and quietly asked, ”Mr. Lu, are you alright?”
