Daddy Always Gets Jealous

She walked to his side, picked up the razor, and gently pressed it against the well-defined angle of his jaw, slowly moving it along.

Soon, the scent of the shaving cream mixed with his body odor filled her nostrils.

Che Huan leaned into his embrace, just quietly watching him, feeling an illusion of everlasting time.

Originally worried that her mother and aunt might suspect something else, she now had completely abandoned that concern. What if they did think something?

After all, they were bound to be together eventually. Thinking of the next month, she suddenly felt the days becoming hard to bear.

Having been told that the little one had been up half the night instructing her, she felt somewhat sleepy; yet, paradoxically, she grew more awake in his arms.

After watching him for a while, her gaze landed on the coffee table and noticed the red invitation. She reached out, hesitated for a moment as she thought about opening it, but eventually put it down.

It seemed wrong to look through his things while he was sleeping!

She always felt that he wouldn’t deliberately conceal anything from her. If she were to be sold out, she’d just have to resign herself to counting the money for him, since he was in her heart!

Resting against his solid chest gave her an indescribable sense of security, and after a while, she dozed off.

...

Zhong Qin returned to the hospital room and saw this scene. She smiled softly and closed the door gently before heading downstairs.

When Che Huan woke up, she was leaning on the sofa, covered in his suit jacket, with the platoon leader squatting beside her.

As she sat up, she saw that the invitation on the coffee table was open, and below it were the bold letters of the name ”Qin Mochuan,” with the event scheduled for Saturday.

Qin Mochuan? A completely unfamiliar name.

She glanced briefly at it before averting her eyes and standing up to check her phone—it was almost noon! She hadn’t seen Auntie Zhong when she entered the hospital room; she was alone!

Pushing the door open and stepping out of the room, she saw Huo Jinnan heading her way in a dark blue shirt.

”Let’s go downstairs for lunch,” Huo Jinnan approached and stood before her.

Che Huan uttered a ”Hmm” and followed him, with the platoon leader tagging along behind her.

Just as they reached Wen Ru’s hospital room and opened the door, they could hear Zhong Qin’s voice, ”Xiaoru, the Qin Family has a celebration this Saturday and they’ve invited Anan over...”

Upon seeing Che Huan and Huo Jinnan, she paused for a few seconds, then with a smile, turned to Wen Ru and continued, ”I heard Anan plans to bring Huanhuan along, you shouldn’t object, right?”

Wen Ru looked at Zhong Qin and for several seconds didn’t speak.

Sensing Zhong Qin’s gentle tug at the blanket, a faint smile appeared on her face, ”We shall let the children handle their own affairs.”

Che Huan felt that something was off about the atmosphere but couldn’t quite put her finger on what it was. Yet looking at her mom and aunt, chatting and laughing as usual, the name ”Qin Mochuan” surfaced in her mind again.

She turned back to Huo Jinnan. Had he mentioned to the aunt that he would take her with him?

Huo Jinnan’s eyes were deep and dark. He glanced briefly in Zhong Qin’s direction. He intended to take Che Huan with him, but had not mentioned it to his mother.

Redirecting his gaze to Che Huan’s face, his voice low and magnetic, he asked, ”Shall we go?”

Che Huan nodded. She would have to engage with his world eventually, to keep pace with him!
