Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Leaving the Qin family for so many years and still want to call the shots?

Thinking of this, Qin Shaonan crushed the cigarette butt between his fingers.

...

Che Huan was in the kitchen, preparing dinner with Mrs. Rong, when she heard footsteps behind her. Thinking it was Uncle Lu, she turned around to speak and suddenly bumped right into Huo Jinnan!

It wasn’t very painful, but it gave her quite the scare. The kitchen knife in her hand almost dropped to the floor; she quickly steadied it, stood there, and looked up at Huo Jinnan with a face still pale.

Mrs. Rong turned around, saw the scene, pretended to notice nothing, and turned back to continue chopping vegetables.

Che Huan, still unsettled, put down the knife, glanced at Mrs. Rong, saw she had no reaction, and quietly followed Huo Jinnan to the living room before she couldn’t help but whisper a complaint, ”What if the knife really had fallen?”

Huo Jinnan took off his suit jacket and draped it over the back of the sofa, ”I believe it would fall slower than my reflexes to catch it.”

”Conceited!”

Che Huan bit out the words, her heart still racing from the incident. Glancing at him, she saw he didn’t take it seriously, feeling a flash of annoyance. Didn’t he know she was worried about him? Didn’t he realize how scared she had been just now?

Huo Jinnan took off his tie, glanced at Che Huan, grabbed her arm, pulled her to him, and gently pinched her chin with his long fingers, lifting her face and covering her lips with his thin ones, lightly biting, ”Are you angry?”

She was a bit annoyed at first, but his antics quickly dispelled it completely.

Che Huan looked up at Huo Jinnan, ”Not angry anymore.”

Huo Jinnan let go, ”After we have dinner, I’ll go to the hospital, and you’ll sleep alone. If you’re afraid of the dark, you can stay with Huo Minhan.”

”I’ll go to the hospital too, I’ll accompany you.”

Che Huan picked up his tie and draped it over her arm.

Huo Jinnan hugged Che Huan tightly, ”Both you and Huo Minhan have mild anemia; it’s not good for you to stay up late.”

She knew she had a bit of anemia but didn’t expect him to be aware of it. Her heart warmed, she stopped insisting and nodded lightly, ”Then make sure you get some sleep tonight.”

”Mhm.”

Huo Jinnan undid two buttons of his shirt, watching Che Huan.

Che Huan felt a bit uncomfortable under his gaze, ”Take a bath, I’ll go upstairs and run bath water for you.”

Huo Jinnan didn’t object and followed her upstairs.

While he bathed, Che Huan went downstairs to help Mrs. Rong.

By the time Huo Jinnan finished his bath, dinner was ready.

Che Huan looked at him meaningfully and passed him a pair of chopsticks.

Huo Jinnan sat next to her, ate dinner, and then took the dinner Che Huan had packed to the hospital.

...

At night, the little one came home, grabbed a pillow, and ran to Huo Jinnan’s room to squeeze into the big bed and sleep with Che Huan.

In the middle of the night, Che Huan had a nightmare—she dreamed Auntie Zhong had died and Miss Fang was choking her.

Just as she was about to suffocate, she awoke abruptly from the nightmare, facing the frowning face of the little one.

”Huanhuan, did you have a nightmare?”

Hearing the little one’s worried voice, Che Huan came back to her senses and realized she was covered in cold sweat.

Seeing her sit up, the little one gently patted Che Huan’s back, ”Huanhuan, don’t be scared. I’m here with you, I’ll keep you company, I’ll protect you.”

Che Huan hugged the little one, ”It’s okay, Huanhuan is not afraid.”

The little one hugged Che Huan tightly, ”Huanhuan, are you really going to marry Huo Jinnan?”

Che Huan held the little one for a while, then looked down at the child, ”Is that bad?”

The little one pursed its lips a bit, ”It’s not bad, but doesn’t this seem a little too easy? You should make him chase you properly. Give him a hard time, then pretend to agree reluctantly...”
