Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Huo Jinnan lit a cigarette, took a drag, and looked deeply at the old man, ”Grandpa, what do you think is the best way to handle this?”

”...”

The old man took a deep breath heavily, not knowing what to say, because after all, Jizhou had done it and allowed Anan to find out!

Anan came to see him, probably to gauge his attitude, right? As to what he said, would it actually make a difference? Obviously not!

The old man knew this clearly and sat there in silence.

Huo Jinnan did not say anything more, just elegantly continued to smoke.

In the entire hospital room, other than the sound of breathing, there was only the sound of smoking.

Half an hour later, the old man looked at Huo Jinnan, ”Anan, what do you plan to do?”

Huo Jinnan flicked the ash, ”I don’t know yet. Isn’t that why I wanted to hear Grandpa’s opinion?”

The old man breathed heavily, ”Anan, you have always disbelieved that Jizhou was unrelated to what happened back then, and I am helpless...”

Huo Jinnan raised his hand to snuff out the cigarette between his fingers, ”Grandpa, let’s not talk about my brother.”

The old man was silent for a while, then closed his eyes, ”You decide what to do. However you want to handle it, do so. Jizhou was in the wrong, and I won’t interfere.”

”Alright then, Grandpa. I think Jizhou has been too willful; it’s time to teach him a lesson.”

Huo Jinnan stood up and left the hospital room.

The old man turned his head, watching Huo Jinnan’s retreating back, his mood sinking bit by bit to rock bottom as he recalled the cold voice lacking any warmth.

It was not that he didn’t want to intervene, but his involvement in this matter would undoubtedly be like pouring oil on the fire and only make things worse.

As soon as Huo Jinnan left, the old man picked up his mobile phone, hands trembling, and made a call to Gu Jizhou, ”Get over here, come to the hospital right now!”

After making the call, he threw the phone down in anger!

Huo Qichang, hearing the noise, quickly came in and saw the broken phone on the floor, ”Dad, what happened?”

The old man didn’t respond, just lay there with closed eyes, continuously sighing, his face nearly black, while a mess of A4 paper documents scattered haphazardly around him.

Huo Qichang walked over to take a look.

”Qichang, don’t look,” the old man said, and Huo Qichang sat down to one side, ”Dad, I’ll call the nurse for you.”

”I’m fine.”

The old man closed his eyes, his breath coming out long. He was angry with himself, angry at Jizhou’s failure to measure up, yet he couldn’t just do nothing!

Huo Qichang sat beside him, keeping him company, ”Dad, it’s all Anan...”

The old man opened his eyes to look at Huo Qichang, ”Don’t talk about Anan. He’s always blamed you in his heart; don’t let Jizhou hurt the father-son relationship anymore. When Jizhou arrives, you go and check on Xiaoqin.”

”Alright, Dad.”

Huo Qichang was worried about Xiaoqin yet afraid to face her. Over the years, no matter what he did, Xiaoqin had always been cold as ice to him.

If it weren’t for Anan insisting on marrying Che Huan this time, he wouldn’t dare provoke Xiaoqin at all, complying with her in everything.

He endured her cold demeanor towards him.

As long as she was happy, he was willing to do anything.

But this time, he had chilled her heart once more.

The old man glanced at Huo Qichang, ”Qichang...”

But not knowing what to say, he swallowed with difficulty, stopping himself from saying more.

”Dad, don’t say anything; I know it hasn’t been easy for you either,” Huo Qichang said, sitting there, looking down at the floor, his mood heavy.

The old man gave a glance, ”You’ve also suffered these years.”

...

When Gu Jizhou arrived, the old man, lying there, took one look, his face immediately darkened, his gaze sweeping Gu Jizhou and then turning to Huo Qichang, he lowered his voice, ”Qichang, go and see Xiaoqin.”
