Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Wen Hua looked at Che Huan, ”I have some things to take care of this afternoon, so your aunt and I will head back first. Nuannuan has nothing to do, so we’ll let her stay here with you.”

Che Huan acknowledged with a sound and followed Wen Hua out of the rest room, taking the little one and Wen Nuan with them to see Wen Hua and Bi Fu out of the ward, all the way to the elevator entrance.

Watching them leave, Che Huan, Wen Nuan, and the little one then returned to Wen Ru’s ward.

The little one wanted to show off, so he offered to peel an apple for Wen Ru.

Che Huan thought of her uncle’s words and hesitated before smiling naturally and asking Wen Ru, ”Were mom and Aunt Zhong very good friends in the past?”

Wen Ru hummed in response, not saying much.

Che Huan looked at Wen Ru, if they were such good friends for many years, could it be that she didn’t know Aunt Zhong had married into the Huo Family? Didn’t know that Huo Jinnan was Aunt Zhong’s son?

Or even, five years ago, did she not know that Gu Jizhou was Aunt Zhong’s grandson?

After pausing for a moment, she asked softly, ”It seems like you haven’t been in contact for many years?”

Wen Ru glanced at Che Huan and responded, ”Yes, we haven’t been in touch for over twenty years. I never expected our children to have grown up so much.”

Over twenty years?

Such a long time!

Che Huan bit her lip, remembering that she still didn’t know how old Huo Jinnan was! Considering he also had a younger brother, Huo Jinbei, and a sister, Huo Jinxue, they must be much older than twenty, right?

Huo Jinnan had an older brother, so even after not seeing each other for over twenty years, should mother still be aware of whom Aunt Zhong had married, and even about his older brother and him?

As for Gu Jizhou, that seemed more reasonable!

With this in mind, when her mother later found out Huo Jinnan was Gu Jizhou’s uncle and opposed them, was there really nothing odd about it, had she simply overthought it?

...

After sitting for a while and having lunch, Che Huan glanced at the time, noting it was almost time for Aunt Zhong’s consultation.

She looked at Wen Ru and said, ”Mom, there’s a foreign expert coming today to consult Aunt Zhong, I’m going to go up and have a look.”

A consultation?

Wen Ru looked at Che Huan, ”What’s wrong with your Aunt Zhong?”

Could it be that Aunt Zhong hadn’t mentioned it to her mother?

Che Huan frowned slightly and turned to Wen Ru, ”Aunt Zhong had a heart transplant and there were some complications, so she has to undergo a consultation.”

”Is that so?”

Wen Ru seemed a bit distracted and, noticing Che Huan’s fixed gaze, quickly regained her composure.

Che Huan had a bad feeling in her heart and hesitated for a while before leaving the ward with the little one, turning to Wen Nuan, ”Nuannuan, I’ll be down in a bit.”

Wen Nuan acknowledged with a sound and nodded her head, ”Don’t worry, Sister Huanhuan, I’m here looking after auntie.”

Che Huan left the ward and looked back in the direction she came from, feeling as if there was something she didn’t know.

But—

Thinking of Huo Jinnan, she bit her lip.

Even if being with him meant walking into a storm without knowing the future, even if it ended up drenching her heart, she still wanted to recklessly step into it just once!

”Huanhuan.”

The little one looked up at Che Huan and squeezed her hand.

Che Huan snapped back to reality and smiled at the little one as they both headed upstairs together.

Huo Jinnan, Huo Jinxue, and Huo Jinbei were in the reception room, the door to the ward was tightly shut—a sign that the consultation had probably started.

She approached Huo Jinnan’s side and saw the Team Leader leaning on the spot next to him. She reached out and gently pushed the Team Leader.

The Team Leader licked her hand and glanced at Huo Jinnan before quietly moving aside.

Che Huan picked up the little one and sat next to Huo Jinnan, looking sideways at him. Seeing that he was holding a cigarette between his fingers without lighting it, she felt a different atmosphere. Without speaking, she just wanted to be there quietly beside him.
