Daddy Always Gets Jealous

The plump little hand rubbed the cheek forcefully, and the frown deepened even more!

He cast a disdainful glance at Nuannuan, jumped off the sofa, and with a sulky face, headed straight for the bathroom.

The washbasin was a bit too high, out of reach of the soap dispenser, and feeling too embarrassed to ask Huanhuan for help, the little guy found a stool to stand on to barely reach it. He managed to squeeze out some soap, washed his hands, felt there was still saliva left, so he used more soap, washed several times, and then started to wash his face.

After a full fifteen minutes of fussing, the little one finally sauntered out of the bathroom with a glum face, glanced at Nuannuan, and remembered what his uncle often lectured his aunt, ”Such a big girl, and you have no modesty at all!”

The little one actually knew about modesty!

Nuannuan was stunned, ”Xiaowei, do you know what modesty means?”

The little guy initially didn’t want to bother with Nuannuan, gave her a sidelong glance, pursed his lips, and couldn’t help but snobbishly say, ”Ignorance is really scary! Was your Chinese taught by a PE teacher? Just for Huanhuan’s sake, I’ll educate you. Lack of modesty means having no sense of shame.”

Bi Fu couldn’t help but laugh, looking at Nuannuan, ”You see, even Xiaowei says you have no sense of shame. Girls should act like girls.”

Nuannuan glared at Bi Fu, ”Mom, how do I not act like a girl?”

Wen Ru lay in the hospital bed watching this scene, her heart filled with warmth. She couldn’t remember how long it had been since she’d seen such a sight. How wonderful would it be if it could always be like this?

She hadn’t done much for Huanhuan over the years; it was time she did something for Huanhuan.

Wen Hua noticed Wen Ru’s gaze and grew worried, ”Xiaoru, are you feeling unwell?”

Wen Ru shook her head, ”No, just reminiscing about the past.”

The past?

Wen Hua became even more worried upon hearing that. Those memories were ones he dare not even think about, let alone Wen Ru. Could it be that Xiaoru was thinking—

The possibility sent his mood plummeting to rock bottom.

Seeing that Huanhuan and Nuannuan weren’t paying attention, Wen Hua sat next to the hospital bed and asked in a low voice, ”Why did you suddenly agree?”

Wen Ru sighed softly, ”I didn’t expect Huo Jinnan to be Xiaoqin’s son.”

Wen Hua took a longer look at Wen Ru. Was that really the reason?

Wen Ru knew her brother’s thoughts; it was okay for him to think that way!

Wen Hua glanced over at Che Huan and the little one, ”Xiaoru, if you’re not feeling right about this, then—”

”No! I feel very comfortable!”

Wen Ru’s voice was small but she firmly interrupted Wen Hua.

Wen Hua said nothing more, his worried eyes turning back toward Che Huan and the little one.

Wen Ru followed his gaze, silently thinking: Brother, do you really think I don’t love Huanhuan? You can’t bear it as an uncle, how could I not suffer as his birth mother?

Only when Che Huan and the little one turned to look in their direction did Wen Ru and Wen Hua withdraw their gazes.

Wen Hua glanced at Wen Ru and sat silently, not saying another word.

Wen Ru remained quiet.

When Bi Fu came over, Wen Ru and Wen Hua looked as if nothing had happened just moments ago.

Nuannuan joined too, with a mischievous smile, ”Aunt, isn’t my brother-in-law very manly?”

Wen Ru gave a mild smile, ”Your aunt doesn’t understand what you’re saying, so if you say he’s manly, then he must be manly.”

Thinking back to her aunt’s strong opposition before and her total shift in attitude today, Nuannuan couldn’t help but ask, ”Aunt, so what do you think of my brother-in-law?”
