Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1515: Chapter 30: Blitzkrieg (13)_2

Although no trenches have been dug or positions established, the commander of the Jiepeng Armored Group instinctively realized that this hill was key to blocking those Fei Alliance troops advancing from south to north.

With this hill, he could gain enough time. And with time, he could figure out where these suddenly appearing Fei Alliance Mecha came from, await the 2521 Division stationed nearby, and wake up from this sudden nightmare.

However, the commander’s calculations, after less than ten minutes, turned into deep despair.

First, the Second Battalion moving towards him was intercepted midway by a suddenly appearing bandit army unit, effectively split into two, and wiped out completely.

Immediately after, while he was commanding his troops to resist the frontal attack, he suddenly discovered a bandit army armored company detouring from the other side of the hill, charging into his newly stabilized position.

The outcome was self-evident.

When his Mecha turned into a ball of fierce fire, he saw the bandit army troops attacking frontally and the flanking armored company crossing paths, both heading in different directions. They were like two giant pythons intersecting at this place, at this moment, obliterating everything before proceeding separately along different paths.

To his dying moment, the commander could not understand.

The Second Battalion’s position was to the east of the headquarters’ valley entrance, supposedly the safest place when the enemy launched its attack. But why did they suddenly encounter a unit while moving towards the 3rd Battalion? That unit seemed to have calculated the route and timing precisely to cut through the Second Battalion like a knife!

What he couldn’t fathom was that although the hill wasn’t huge, it wasn’t small either.

To maneuver from the flank, one had to descend via the mountainside through the valley and then ascend again. Even if the pursuing troops instantly saw the weakness of the hill and immediately split forces to flank, it would take at least twenty minutes. However, the suddenly appearing armored company appeared just as he had stabilized his footing, as if it had been ready all along.

At the moment of the Mecha explosion, he saw a tide of Fei Alliance Mecha surging past him. He heard more intense gunfire from the distant hilltop.

That was the defense area of the 3rd Group of the 2521 Division.

Beize Xian was sixty this year. As the commander of the Jiepeng 25 Army Group, he ranked fifty-sixth among over a hundred admirals in the Jiepeng.

Although not highly ranked, Beize was held in high esteem within the Jiepeng Army.

This elderly man, with razor-sharp eyebrows and piercing eyes, was the current Clan Leader of the Beize family, one of the Empire’s top ten families. He had always been low-key and cautious, never making enemies lightly. Many military officials above him were nurtured by him.

Militarily, Beize Xian had high attainments.

He was once a special-grade professor at the Jiepeng Army Second Military University, publishing numerous military papers, and stood out distinctly in battle command.

Especially his simulation ability, which had become a legend at the Second Military University.

During a live combat exercise, when invited to observe, he, spurred by competition, used only a five-person staff team to completely suppress the opposing entire Army Group Staff Department in simulation combat. The opponent was so thoroughly defeated that they surrendered just midway through the exercise.

This record remains unbroken to this day.

Great simulation capabilities inevitably accompany more precise judgments, a broader perspective, and quicker battlefield responses.

In fact, before the news of the 1st Group of the 2521 Division getting attacked came, this general’s knife-like eyes were tightly fixed on the southern Frenso Town.

Bellif’s operational plan was calculated personally by Beize Xian. Before the grand plan was unveiled, he was the Jiepeng Military’s most frequent visitor to Bellif’s office, even clearer on many undisclosed specifics of the plan than Mikami Yuto.

Beize Xian had enough confidence in this plan.

Through a series of preliminary strategic offensives, the Western Alliance Army, with overwhelming force superiority, had gained control of the battle situation.

Fei Alliance’s Resk Main Army was thoroughly pinned down on the western line of Phoenix City that they painstakingly managed, unable to move. Like a rope stretched to its limit, it could break at any moment.

All Bellif needed to do was to complete a breakthrough at Sunset Mountain before Fei Alliance’s third reinforcement, securing the final victory.

Through repeated calculations, Beize Xian had assessed Fei Alliance’s forces to the utmost.

He didn’t believe Chen Fengxi could hold Sunset Mountain.

Chen Fengxi had, at most, only twenty divisions. He couldn’t possibly deploy all his reserve forces to Sunset Mountain; doing so would mean he had no troops for Frenso Town’s defense and none to reinforce other segments of the long front line.

Even if he only deployed ten divisions.....Under the powerful attack of the Judger and twenty divisions, what use were ten divisions?

However, now Beize was beginning to doubt his judgment.

For one reason only: a communications officer standing beside him and a detachment of Special Soldiers.

These people were dispatched by Bellif’s command center. Before arriving here, they first went to the Suss 21 Army Group’s base in the north and then came here.

”You’re saying the command center still hasn’t received any news from Frenso Town?” Beize’s razor-sharp eyebrows moved slightly.

”Yes, General,” the Lieutenant Colonel Communications Officer replied, ”Since it had exceeded the specified contact time, the command center sent us over to inquire along the way with each war zone to see if there’s any contact. After all, they are quite far from the command center... The command center believes it might be due to the enemy’s desperate electronic attacks rendering communication impossible during the tense battle situation....”

The Lieutenant Colonel stumbled over his explanation, unclear why he felt a chill standing in front of Beize.

”Frenso Town has a problem!” Beize decisively interrupted the Lieutenant Colonel.

The unsuspecting Lieutenant Colonel, wide-eyed in shock.

Under his gaze, Beize paced back and forth, speaking in a cold tone: ”Frenso Town, said to be a feint to hold the enemy, is actually the second attack point. Apart from the seven Armored Divisions we’ve committed, there are also a hundred Judgers! They should understand the importance of maintaining contact in the entire operational plan!”

Beize spoke rapidly, not so much to the Lieutenant Colonel as analyzing to himself, ”Earlier, I felt something was amiss. Not only with Frenso Town but also here, Fei Alliance’s electronic attacks have unexpectedly become much stronger, and we’ve lost contact with below, Saint John Town, Beiqi Mountain.”

His steps grew quicker, his tone faster, until he could no longer hold himself back, striding up to the command platform, leaving the bewildered Lieutenant Colonel behind.

”Order the 2521 Division to immediately dispatch a group, advancing at full speed toward Billy Town, and ensure they establish contact with the Suss 92 Division and 34 Division as soon as possible......”

Just as Beize finished speaking, an officer suddenly rushed into the command hall.

”Admiral!” The officer, panting heavily, with wide-eyed fear, reported, ”My 2521 Division was attacked by a large Fei Alliance force. Currently, the enemy has advanced rapidly fifteen kilometers south of Eagle Mountain along the Tulun River; the headquarters of the 2521 Division has lost contact, and the troops have scattered.”

”What?!” Beize Xian felt a chill creeping up his spine. The entire command department, all staff officers, were stunned by this news.

To crush an entire meticulously equipped armored division in one go, how many enemies were there? Their presence here implied events in front of Billy Town Warzone, Beiqi Mountain Warzone, Saint John Town Warzone, and more critically, the Frenso Town Warzone. What exactly happened?

Beize Xian suddenly turned back, gazed at the electronic sand table.

From Frenso Town in the far south all the way to here, an arcing attack line, accompanied by a judgment that even he himself found somewhat incredulous but irrefutable, emerged in his mind.

After a long time, he slowly descended from the command platform, standing in front of the stunned-faced Lieutenant Colonel, ”No need to go to Frenso Town anymore, return and report to Admiral Bellif.”

”As for the trouble here,” his eyes slightly narrowing, ”I will handle it myself!”
