Chapter 1513: Chapter 29: Blitz (12)_3

”When we were pulled up, it was just in time for the enemy’s all-out attack,” Pereira seemed lost in recollection. ”For five days and nights, the gunfire on the battlefield never ceased. At first, the warriors fought fairly easily, keeping a casualty ratio of one to ten. But as the battle dragged on, it became impossible. Those Jiepeng people charged in turns, attacking the front they couldn’t break through, then maneuvering to the flanks. They had many troops, charging the positions wave after wave. Their firepower was also strong, recklessly bombarding the positions. Just as the mechas withdrew, the fire coverage started, and after the fire coverage, the mechas were back again. For five days and nights, it didn’t stop.”

Pereira paused, fiercely inhaled a puff of smoke: ”Our casualty ratio started to decline from the tenth hour after the battle began, dropping from one to ten, to one to six, then down to one to three, and finally to one to one point five. If the Alliance Command Center hadn’t supplemented some troops while the interstellar channel was open, my two divisions might have been dissolved.”

Just by listening to Pereira’s account, everyone present could tell how fierce the battle was. For a moment, the mountain was silent.

A Colonel Chuckna spoke: ”This battle is known to the entire Resk Main Army. When the 333rd and 334th divisions pulled up, they happened to encounter the enemy’s all-out attack, which was quite a collision. However, after that battle, the Jiepeng 25 Army Group was quiet for quite some time. If they felt pain, it was certainly intense.”

Pereira waved his hand dismissively, said lightly: ”The country of Jiepeng has a tough and tenacious spirit. Once the battle begins, there’s no stopping until they are thoroughly crushed. And we, unfortunately, don’t have the time to get entangled with them.”

”Give me the lever,” he requested from a nearby staff member, took the electronic lever, turned on the switch, and pushed his troops along the Tulun River on the electronic sandbox, decisively stating: ”With our bandit army’s combat power, there’s not enough time to annihilate them, but penetrating their defense zone is absolutely no problem. I suggest...”

He raised his head, looking at Fatty, saying: ”Concentrate forces, advance swiftly, avoid entanglement with the enemy, clear a passage through the relatively flat south bank of the Tulun River, and consecutively break through the Jiepeng 25 Army Group and the Suss 21 Army Group, completing the strategic maneuver!”

His electronic lever halted before a peak marked 1049.

”This is 49 Peak, also the junction where Xiushui River merges into the Tulun River. The mountain rises sharply, leading up to the famous Xiushui River waterfall group and the snowy peaks of the Sherlock Mountains. Below 49 Peak, a Suss Armored Group is stationed. As long as we capture this, and then establish a blocking position using the terrain, holding off the enemy behind us, we’ve essentially won. Hold them off for a few hours, our troops at Sherlock Mountain’s main peak, Bilin Mountain, and Jingfeng Valley are not to be trifled with!”

Putting down the lever, Pereira pinched his brow with concern, saying: ”The only requirement is speed. Don’t give the enemy time to react. Although the terrain on the south bank of the Tulun River is flat and easy to navigate, there are several high grounds that are easy to defend but hard to attack along the way. The Western Alliance’s forces are distributed nearby, very close by. Once we face obstruction and get entangled, the entire operational plan will be in vain.”

After listening to Pereira, Fatty and Bonnie exchanged smiles.

”Great minds think alike!”

Pereira joyfully raised his head, seeing Fatty nodding towards him, and then turned with a chuckle to Bonnie, saying: ”Will you do it, or shall I?”

”It’s too complicated, I can’t command it.” The beautiful female officer, who was hard to look away from, hooked her arm through Fatty’s, softly saying: ”You do it.”

Fatty nodded, whispered something in Bonnie’s ear, eliciting an eye-roll from Bonnie and a fierce pinch on Fatty’s arm.

Pereira, exhausted but smiling, watched the two young people exchange glances.

Reflecting on the past battle, a growing sense of confidence gave him an inexplicable premonition that this battle would follow the route set by Fatty until its end.

The Yangtze River waves push the waves ahead.

He thought, if this battle ends with Bellif’s disastrous defeat, what kind of feeling would the Suss Marshal have upon witnessing his defeat by someone so calm and easygoing?

War may begin from the hands of famous generals in the rankings, but it is destined to end in the hands of young people outside of those lists!

Half an hour later.

The battle officially commenced.
