Beneath the Red Dragon

The prized Caster Corps also stepped out from the barracks beneath the city walls, hastily yet orderly ascending the walls under the command of their legion commander.

At this moment, these casters also need to participate in the war at the frontline. Therefore, unlike those fragile mages, the Imperial casters have become accustomed to holding a magic staff in one hand and a heavy hammer or sword in the other, mastering both.

Many Native World residents with a talent for learning magic have been recruited into the Imperial Caster Corps, cultivating a large number of low-tier casters through prolonged combat to barely maintain the defense line at the frontline.

The warriors on the wall have long set up their crossbows, stretching bows and drawing arrows, armoring themselves with swords. The demons covering the sky can no longer instill fear in them, even though they still fear death.

The Slave Corps and Pure Warriors pray for the favor of the Dragon, hoping that their souls after dying in battle could attain the serenity granted by the Giant Dragon, just like the warriors of the Dragon Legion, and step into the Holy Hall where heroic souls are said to belong.

Standing tall like a mountain upon the city wall, the Dragon Descendant Werewolf Saha has one of his dragon-like horns broken, with his worn magical armor showing signs of damage everywhere.

As the leader of the Imperial Legion and the most powerful warrior, the pressure he faces is far greater than anyone else’s.

His gaze sweeps over those rushing Shadow Demons, hybrid Wolf-Snake Demons, deformed Deformed Eel Demons, raging Ape Demons, foul Corpse-eating Demons, and Giant Bull Demons with Minotaur-like traits.

These myriad types of demons, including the massive Beast Demons and Abyss Dragon Beasts, are not enough to trouble him. His eyes traverse the sky of rolling dark clouds, gazing towards the Land of Long Summer across the strait.

There exists an unprecedentedly powerful aura there, showcasing its strength to a civilization daring to resist demons.

This demonic aura stirs the clouds and animosity, the demonic qi forming a colossal shadow in the sky.

Even reaching the level of a Holy Sanctuary, the Dragon Descendant Werewolf feels a sense of smallness before this intense and chaotic brutal aura.

This is no ordinary high-tier demon; it is a Great Demon above legendary power. Even after crossing the wall barrier between planes, losing much of its power, it still possesses strength beyond opposition.

If not its true form arriving, then it’s a more terrifying situation.

The Dragon Descendant Werewolf’s eyes can see many high-tier demons, six-armed Snake Demons, Balrog Flame Demons, and Soul-Stealing Demons surrounding the towering Great Demon, awaiting its command.

And if the planar passage lies far in the Shadow Lands of Yaxia, this Great Demon coming here proves the existence of civilization in Yaxia Lands, including Rise at Dawn, has probably been completely destroyed by this Great Demon.

The Divine Spirit they worshipped and the Extraordinary Creatures—Night Lion—thriving in this world were also killed by this Great Demon, thus making it seem that perhaps only the Golden Empire remains as the sole resisting force in the world.

”Perhaps, in this world, the Empire will fall today,”

The Dragon Descendant Werewolf thought so, but the demons covering the sky have already arrived. He instantly cast aside these futile worries, spread his huge wings, and roared, ”Cloaked in heavy armor, heart as steel, this battle shall not retreat!”

”Shall not retreat!”

Raging roars echoed on the section of the wall under the command of the Dragon Descendant Werewolf.

Whoosh,

The sound of intense vibrations as giant crossbows and arrows, empowered by the strings, bore the strength to pierce through the robust bodies of low-tier demons, a rain of arrows fell upon the demons, crushing to the ground, only to be stomped to death by advancing demons.

The enormous crossbow arrows carried enough momentum to penetrate the body of a giant Demon Dragon, skewering the densely packed demons.

The crossbows cleared narrow gaps amidst the demon tide, then lost power against the endless demon bodies, dragging fragmented demon corpses as they plummeted.

In the surging demon tide, the sinister grins of demons occasionally appearing within the shadows wrapped around, suggesting these demons can blend into shadow powers easily even in desolate magical areas, demonstrating this is their innate ability.

Only these demons’ ugly bat wings and gleaming claws expose their forms; these are Shadow Demons, hunters in the darkness, silently blending into the infinity of demons, trying to breach the wall’s defenses and blend into the crowd.

”Spiritual Storm!”

The commanders at various defensive lines of the legion shouted, as fierce heart energy began stirring storms under the warriors’ will, sweeping across.

Shadow Demons unable to be harmed or killed materially shrieked, failing to maintain shadow blending abilities, bat wings trembling and falling from the air.

”Focus, everyone, cover the area, spell—Shattering Sound Wave,” the Caster Corps raised their magic staffs, loudly ordering.

In sections without Dragon Legion’s stationing, clearing these Shadow Demons can only rely on the casters’ power, as mortal weapons cannot harm these weak yet troublesome demons.

Casters specially cultivated as legion mages don’t require strong magic, legion battles emphasizing coordination and order, even low-level spells have profound effects when coordinated at Legion Level.
