Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 398: Chapter 263: No Way Back (Part 2)

Lying on the wet deck, watching Lao San’s arrogant face, the Second Priest extended a middle finger.

The Third Priest, who was brought up later, cursed even more harshly.

Then Lao San stomped on his mouth, breaking his teeth.

But he didn’t have many teeth left; when he was brought up, the Third Priest’s face had a slash from an unknown object, taking off one ear and a small piece of scalp.

He looked even worse than the Slit-mouthed Woman.

All he could do was curse Lao San with a mouth full of blood, but unfortunately, the other side physically interrupted his spell before he could finish a few words.

The combat team members dragged the two away.

Soon, a group of survivors was brought up.

Leading them was Iron Old Man and Xiaodong, with the strong and robust Qi Zhenbang standing beside them.

Although the old man worked day and night on the train, he not only didn’t look worn out, but he seemed even more spirited, and his whole aura had softened quite a bit.

He wiped off the rainwater from his eyebrows, happily chatting with Xiaodong beside him, ”The bad thing about getting older is that your eyebrows grow longer, and when they do, they catch rainwater...”

Qi Zhenbang frowned, looking at Lao San in front, ”What’s this about? Didn’t they say they were sending us back to the construction site?”

Back then, it was Lao San who ordered the killing of over a hundred people before him, so naturally, he was very wary.

Lao San replied grumpily, ”What’s it about? Work! Or do you think we’re going to silence all of you?”

Qi Zhenbang was taken aback, silently observing the movements of the soldiers around them.

Seeing that the others were ignoring them, he finally relaxed.

Xiaodong said confidently, ”Don’t worry, Uncle Zhenbang, the conductor promised to send us home.”

Qi Zhenbang hesitated to speak; although he wasn’t as resistant as his second brother, Qi Zhendong, he still harbored distrust toward the train.

But talking about this with Xiaodong was a waste of time.

Ever since meeting Su Huan at the shelter, Xiaodong seemed entranced, believing everything the conductor did was right, thinking everything the conductor did was good.

Even when his hands and feet were worn out digging the foundation on the island, he was still praising the conductor.

And that trench was dug with the help of him and his second brother!

Why didn’t he praise the two of them?

It was simply maddening!

Even more maddening was that every time Xiaodong spoke like this, his father would listen and laugh along, and if the two of them argued back, he would even side with Xiaodong. If they weren’t together every day, he would have suspected his real father had been swapped out.

They weren’t left in the rain for long before the logistics personnel handed each of them an oxygen tank.

No wetsuits, no flippers, not even masks.

Just a bare metallic bottle, as if freshly molded.

Seeing it’s about ready, Lao San shouted through a megaphone, ”Just jump straight down, someone will catch you below, and you’ll know what to do when you get there.”

”Start with you, jump down.”

Lao San pointed to the most conspicuous Qi Zhenbang in front.

’This is clearly silencing us!’

Qi Zhenbang clutched the oxygen tank, his mouth twitching.

”The sooner we finish, the sooner we go home.”

Suddenly, he heard his father’s voice in his ear, and before he could react, he saw his father jump into the water with an oxygen tank on his back.

Scared, he didn’t care any longer and quickly followed him, jumping in as well.

With the Qi Family leading, the rest of the survivors jumped in like dumplings.

...

Although at the bottom of the sea without ventilation equipment, because it was underwater, the temperature inside the laboratory was not high.

After half an hour of busy work, they finally took stock of all the weapons and equipment before sending Mountain Goat and Li Han up to deliver the message.

Initially, everyone felt some frustration and confusion upon seeing the contents of the paper, but as the equipment inside the laboratory was inventoried, everyone’s hearts were filled with a sense of joyful acquisition.

The weapons and equipment in the electromagnetic laboratory, although not much in number, were very comprehensive in style!

First, there was the one called [Thor-7] electromagnetic railgun in the center.

A shell weighing 8.5 kilograms with an effective range of 50 kilometers (anti-ship) / 180 kilometers (ground).

The penetration power was measured in the unit of ”meters.”

Initially, no one had any concept of this data, but when Vice President Deng said it could sink an aircraft carrier, everyone got excited.

Wasn’t this what the armed train lacked in heavy firepower!

Even more exciting was, there was another experimental-level [Thor-8] electromagnetic railgun in the back warehouse, with a length of fourteen meters, a theoretical range of over two hundred kilometers, and armor penetration shooting to a terrifying 2,000 mm RHA.

Amazing supply of materials!

Additionally, there were vehicle-mounted electromagnetic cannons of the [Lightning] grade, electromagnetic rifles for individual use with extremely high precision—each reaching the level of a precision rifle.

The second category was high-energy pulse weapons. Although drones couldn’t fly without these things now, no one was sure if Black Kite had overcome these problems, so these were left for them.

The third category was electromagnetic protection and auxiliary equipment, such as electromagnetic armor that releases a strong magnetic field to deflect projectiles once incoming missiles are detected, originally for main battle tanks and armored personnel carriers, now seamlessly integrated onto the armed train.

No need for Xiaoba to risk his life when faced with heavy explosive weapons again.

There were also some superconducting storage batteries, electromagnetic invisibility cloaks, non-lethal neural electromagnetic pulse weapons, etc.

Just the physical equipment alone made the train brim with bounty.

And counting those under-research space-based electromagnetic guns and such, just the names could fill hundreds of pages.

This was clearly not the output of a single laboratory.

But rather the culmination of an organization, generations of painstakingly dedicated efforts.

When Iron Old Man and the others came in and saw the guys packing the big stuff, they were stunned.

They knew the armed train was up to something big but didn’t expect it to be this big.

One would think Iron Old Man would chime in with some words, but surprisingly, the old guy silently stepped up to help with the packing instead.

His straightforwardness made Su Huan feel a bit uneasy.

Previously, no matter what Su Huan did, Iron Old Man always had to argue with him.

Stepping closer, Su Huan, unwilling to give up, asked, ”Don’t you think we’re digging at the roots of the organization?”

Iron Old Man worked while being straightforward, ”Us being alive is the root of the organization!”

Obviously, the conductor wasn’t satisfied with that answer.

He said coldly again, ”Have you ever thought that the organization and the military knew about this long ago?”

Hearing this, Iron Old Man’s actions paused briefly and then continued working as if he heard nothing.

”Oh,”

Having noticed the flaw in Iron Old Man, the conductor grinned slyly, pulling out a journal, and deliberately swayed the note inside in Iron Old Man’s face.

”Ironclad proof, Grandpa Tieshan!”

Then he stood before Qi Tieshan, like a devil waiting for a soul to fall, ready to witness his faith collapse.

Indeed, he saw the old man moved, but it was somewhat different from what he expected.

”Let me see it again!”

Iron Old Man said a bit anxiously.

”Didn’t you already see it clearly?”

Su Huan said slowly.

”Quick, let me take a look, I recognize that handwriting.”

Hearing this, Su Huan’s eyes focused.

No more joking, he opened the journal and handed the note directly to Iron Old Man.

He wasn’t afraid of the old man playing any mind games.

With his less than Tier One ability, in Su Huan’s eyes, he was as slow as a snail, his hands would easily snatch back the note unscathed.

Iron Old Man looked around, then wiped his hands hard on the sealed box before solemnly accepting the note and examining the handwriting on it.

It took almost no time before Iron Old Man’s large, coarse hands started trembling, and as Su Huan raised his eyebrows, an old tear already fell on the note.

It dampened the pause after ”no retreat,” smudging the ink like a period.

”I know this person,”

”He was my soldier, named Yang Cunyi.”

”No matter what you want, even if it costs me my life, I, the old man, have only one request for you, help him, help them.”
