Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 378: Chapter 253: Four Great Basic Potions (Part 2)

Lin Xi furrowed her brows as she struggled with the dumplings in her hand; everyone else had already made three, but she hadn’t managed one.

Xiaoba’s method was completely cult-like.

A dozen metal blocks floated in mid-air.

The dumpling skins and fillings were sequentially placed inside, then the metal closed up and pressed hard, and a dozen smooth dumplings formed.

The edges even had decorative patterns of little flowers and grasses.

But it had to be said, from an aesthetic point of view, his dumplings were the best of everyone’s.

”Conductor.”

Seeing Su Huan, He Zhenzhen stood up.

Yu Yue’s gaze unintentionally skimmed over Shu Wei’s collar and hemline, then she gave Su Huan a gentle smile.

Xiaoba extended his flour-covered hand and shook his sleeve as a greeting.

Su Huan was slightly surprised, ”You’re up so early, not sleeping a bit more?”

He Zhenzhen gave an uneasy glance at the blaring sound system, her face slightly embarrassed.

”Oh, you all keep busy, I’ll wander around.”

Su Huan belatedly waved his hand, feeling no guilt for disturbing their sleep.

He resolved New Eden’s internal conflict in one day, and then spent most of the time repairing vehicles, gathering resources, and searching for the data center to prepare for salvaging.

The most troublesome task among these was vehicle repair.

It consumed even more energy than the last major upgrade.

Although the armored train had thick armor and a sturdy structure that was already impervious to most creatures, it was nothing more than a big toy in the face of natural disasters.

If it weren’t for Xiaoba, this powerful metal manipulator on board, the train would have already been torn apart and sunk.

To maintain the train’s integrity, there were numerous repairs.

All sorts of deformed connectors, ruptured armor, and damaged equipment needed replacement and repair.

After research, the head and others decided to go all out and conduct another minor upgrade.

They primarily reinforced the connectors with an entire whale’s bone.

The finer details were strengthened with Tier Two materials.

Currently, Tier Two materials have begun to be produced, namely Tier Two Cyan Steel.

Its hardness surpasses that of some tool steels, even harder than the toughest current material, Titanium Steel, and it retains excellent toughness and high-temperature resistance.

However, it is scarce and can only be used on high-stress components.

Then there were the cleanup operations and salvage work on Tide Watching Island.

The cleanup was naturally not for New Eden.

The organization had no one left.

The three priests were still with Director Xu, assisting with ability research.

The High Priest’s ability was somewhat tempting to the conductor.

He wanted to use it but wasn’t too keen on giving her a pear yet.

He planned to wait until the production of Life Potions increased.

As for the ritual site, it had been excavated and was currently under Professor Ma’s study.

He passed through the dining car and arrived first at Wan Xing’s workshop.

The former forest cabin had now turned into a fish market, with various hides replaced by crab shells and fish skins along the sides of the car.

There was a crab on the cutting board, and the cabin was filled with a faint fishy smell.

Wan Xing still preferred loose clothing; this time it was a turquoise wool jumper with an adorable little animal pin, holding a one and a half meter long hand saw with serrated teeth like a trap door.

She didn’t speak upon seeing Su Huan, just gave a slight nod.

She might be a bit upset about Su Huan docking her pay, but she usually acted like this, so Su Huan couldn’t tell and didn’t really want to retaliate.

”Why not use Yu Jing’s exoskeleton? It should help a lot with the effort, right?”

Wan Xing placed the removed crab leg aside and said, ”She’s been busy lately, saying the Engineer series is soon coming out with a second generation, and told me to wait for a custom one. The first generation is a bit too bulky, reacts slowly, and isn’t flexible enough for breakdown tasks.”

”Any Life Potion production recently?”

Su Huan asked.

Wan Xing shook her head, ”I asked yesterday, the cultivation chamber got flooded a bit, and the growth speed of the Crown Pears has been significantly reduced; it will take another month for the pears to mature.”

Su Huan pinched his chin, ”A month, huh...”

”We haven’t developed the potion recently, but some by-products have come out.” Wan Xing put down the saw, pulled out a wooden box from beside, then opened a cabinet and put some bottles and jars inside, bringing it over and said, ”Most have been taken away by them. I’ve only kept one of each here.”

Su Huan looked down at the box, noticing the largest bottle inside, filled with a grease-like substance resembling lard.

”What’s this?”

”Whale head fat; I’ve extracted some and modified it into a topical wound treatment. There’s a lot of fat on whales, and the efficacy differs slightly depending on the origin; some are suitable for fuels, others for medicines.”

Wan Xing explained.

Su Huan responded indifferently, ”No results are normal; anyway, with plenty of materials, you can just boldly experiment when you’re idle...”

”It’s not like there aren’t any results.”

Wan Xing pushed up her slightly slipping glasses.

Then she took out a bright yellow liquid from the box.

”This is a material I developed for Yu Jing’s advancement, with antiseptic and bioactive stimulating effects. It’s rich in energy, and applying a similar concept, I added some amber-colored fat and seemingly developed a basic potion that can greatly increase general energy reserves.”

Seeing Su Huan’s dazed eyes, Wan Xing added, ”But it’s unstable.”

Su Huan was silent for a moment.

Unexpectedly, something divine was nurtured even with a laissez-faire approach.

Based on data released from Deep Blue in a previous life, Evolver’s basic attributes included ten types in total.

But there were only four types of corresponding basic potions.

The first type primarily enhanced the ”Defender” five-dimensional attributes.

Attributes like strength, defense, speed... all fell into this category.

The second type was the energy potion, focusing on increasing the user’s energy reserves.

The third type was the spiritual potion, the most valuable of all basic potions.

The fourth type was the energy immunity potion, which increased resistance to certain special energies.

For instance, the flame resistance potion makes one more heat-resistant and less susceptible to burning, but it doesn’t render one impervious to fire.

She actually managed to research the Four Great basic potions.

Although the result still looked a bit distant, how far could it really be?

It’s only been over three months since the apocalypse...

”Need a reward?”

Su Huan suddenly blurted out.

Wan Xing lifted her eyelids, saying flatly, ”No need.”

It sounded a bit cold, but it was truthful; though ”core member” wasn’t a term used now, with Wan Xing’s rank, there was likely nothing on the train she couldn’t obtain.

”How about I compliment you?”

Su Huan seriously suggested.

”No need, I have to get back to work.”

”Alright, I’ll be off then.”

Shu Wei listened to the conversation between the two, black lines appearing on her fair forehead.

Why did every sentence between them seem so sarcastic?

Didn’t they notice?

Or is it just my mind that’s messy?

After leaving Carriage 3, Shu Wei couldn’t help but ask, ”Really no reward?”

Su Huan turned his head in surprise, ”She said she didn’t need it.”

Shu Wei’s delicate brows furrowed, her red lips slightly parted, but ultimately she swallowed her words.

’Weird people.’

”Oh, what else is there to do today?”

Hearing the music in the sound system come to a close, Su Huan casually asked.

Shu Wei was still pondering the odd dynamics between Su Huan and his subordinates, replied absent-mindedly, ”Needs charging.”

Su Huan’s face darkened, ”Besides the charging?”

Shu Wei snapped back, quickly replied, ”There’s been progress in the research at Professor Ma’s place. He hopes you can go over and take a look.”

”They figured out that stone under the altar so quickly?”

”It seems that stone has advanced some of Professor Ma’s previously stagnant research.”

”I should take a look. Anything else?”

”The approximate location of the data center has been determined.”
