Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 390: Chapter 259: End of Special Training

”Anyway, I passed the commando selection, it’s just, eh... forget it.”

Qu Hang glanced at the sky.

”The special training is about to end, they’re resting, but we’ve got work to do.”

That evening, when He Jie announced the end of the special training, five hundred soldiers collapsed to the ground, only a few could still stand.

Lao San brought the combat team over, along with a group of officers, and it took half a day to carry all five hundred back.

The body density of Evolvers is higher than that of ordinary people.

Even girls like the slender and stylish mongoose reach a weight of 180 to 190 pounds, while men generally exceed 200 pounds, with the average reaching about 260 pounds.

Watching the last soldier being sent back to their room, He Jie breathed a sigh of relief.

Seven days of special training, he was under a lot of pressure, his nerves constantly tense.

On one hand, he had to force out the soldiers’ potential, on the other hand, he had to consider their limits to avoid non-combat attrition, and still keep an eye on unexpected events, his head was spinning.

Luckily, the effort wasn’t wasted, finally turning that group of survivors into something resembling soldiers.

Returning to the auxiliary compartment No. 2, he opened the door to his home.

The faint aroma of food wafted out.

”Daddy’s back!”

A joyful scream rang out.

A small figure dashed out of the room.

He Jie’s tense expression softened, and he picked up his son, laughing heartily, ”Did you study today?”

The little one pouted, ”Why do we still have to study when it’s the apocalypse...”

He Jie frowned, ”What’s the apocalypse got to do with you? If the sky falls, your father will hold it up!”

”I want to become a hero like Dad.”

He Jie was about to say something else when he saw his daughter standing in front of him with wide, blinking eyes inherited from her mother.

Without her opening her mouth, He Jie already knew what she wanted to ask.

He snorted coldly, ”Not training him, what’s your hurry...”

He Zhenzhen said, annoyed, ”Mom and I specially asked Aunt Yu for the dough and filling, just to let you have a taste of something hot, and you come back to scold and criticize...”

Seeing his girl upset, He Jie quickly offered a smile.

After dinner, his daughter took his son upstairs to study, leaving the couple some time for intimate words.

Han Qin rattled on about what she had done during this time, what their daughter did, and what interesting things happened to their son. Even though they were trivial matters, in front of He Jie, Han Qin seemed to turn back into the teenage girl from ten years ago, chirping joyously.

He Jie sat on the sofa, eyes half-closed, listening, occasionally giving a perfunctory response.

Though many of the topics didn’t interest him, he liked listening to Han Qin talk.

No matter what she said.

Just having sound was enough.

The restless, impulsive emotions in his heart slowly soothed by Han Qin’s gentle chatter.

”Is the peace knot I gave you still there?”

”Mm.”

”Is it dirty?”

”Mm.”

”Want me to wash it for you?”

”Mm, wash it, wash it together.”

”Did you not bring it?”

”Mm.”

”Mm?”

Han Qin raised her eyebrows and rushed in, burrowing into He Jie’s clothes.

”All sweaty, smells awful!”

”Want me to wash it...”

”Don’t worry, I’m not bothered by you, can’t smell it, I’m not used to it, ah, that masculine scent... delicious!”

He Jie picked up his voluptuous wife by the waist, ”Let’s wash together!”

”I’ve already washed, I don’t want to.”

”Let’s not waste water!”

”Your husband has enough points, not short on that water.”

”Our daughter and son are still upstairs...”

”It’s fine, soundproofing is good!”

”Clumsy bear, be gentler, you want to tear me apart...”

...

Half an hour later, He Jie sat on the sofa with a foolish grin, kneading his wife’s legs.

She slapped his broad arms, complaining.

”By the way, the uniforms are finished today, the design finalized, going to be mass-produced soon, then I won’t have so much free time.”

”There are only a few hundred sets, how busy can it get.”

Han Qin seemed to remember something, suddenly sitting on He Jie’s lap, whispering mysteriously, ”You don’t know, at that time, the conductor specifically asked Secretary Shu to stay and try on the clothes, while we all left...”

Upon hearing his wife’s gossiping news, He Jie frowned, ”Regarding the conductor’s matters, pretend you didn’t see it. Forget about anything and don’t spread it outside.”

Seeing He Jie suddenly serious, Han Qin was somewhat surprised, ”I feel the conductor is very amiable, smiling and greeting me warmly whenever he sees me. Just a promising young man, not as eerie as you say.”

”And I’m just telling you, no gossip spreading outside.”

He Jie twitched his mouth, ”That’s because he is usually dozing off, the conductor is eccentric and petty. You might not have an issue saying things in front of him, but badmouthing him behind his back, he’ll torment you daily...”

”Then does your current act count as badmouthing me behind the back?”

A mischievous voice came in through the door.

Han Qin covered her mouth in shock.

He Jie raised his eyebrows, hurried to open the door.

The conductor stood at the door with a smile, accompanied by the secretary and bodyguards.

But in He Jie’s eyes, that smile appeared sinister, like brewing a stomach full of mischief.

He Jie used his broad body to block the doorway, ”What’s up?”

Su Huan ignored him, tilting his head to greet the graceful lady inside, ”Sister-in-law just showered, looks even more beautiful than during the day.”

Han Qin smiled awkwardly.

Su Huan looked at He Jie, who was tightly aligned with the door frame, saying helplessly, ”Don’t know to invite me in?”

He Jie grumped, ”It’s small here, no room.”

”Tsk, then let’s go, come to my place, plenty of space...”

”Darn, using me as a mule again!”

He Jie was somewhat agitated but still explained to Han Qin, then followed out the door.

Arriving at the small conference room on the second level of the dining car, not a soul was present.

Since Su Huan preferred to conduct conversations at the dining table, this meeting room wasn’t used much, mostly for private consultations by several conductors.

Su Huan and He Jie took seats, and Su Huan didn’t need to personally call the remaining officers.

Secretary Shu sent everyone messages from the command post at the front of the car.

Soon, the officers of the Armed Corps gathered one by one.

Su Huan tapped lightly on the table, ”Rest well tonight, make good use of tomorrow to sweep through the entire Tide Watching Island for establishing the outpost, any issues?”

He Jie was surprised, ”You want to set up a station?”

”Yes, the outpost for Guan Chong Station.”

”No problem, these days we’ve mostly cleaned up already.”

He Jie agreed.

”The upcoming matter is more important, regarding the distribution of the Armed Corps. Last meeting you weren’t there, so I’m discussing it separately.”

Su Huan reviewed the core roles mentioned in the last meeting and the refinement of the departments.

Although this can be recapped by Secretary Shu or Hu Shuo.

But it’s not the same.

For the Armed Corps, equivalent to the crew, others don’t have the qualifications.

”The essence is like this, the crew has already started progressively.”

Su Huan continued.

He Jie said in a deep voice, ”The Steel Council setup really doesn’t work anymore, I felt it was inappropriate when I fought with you before, past tactical experience hinders the Evolvers’ performance.”

”That’s right, this distribution considers capabilities more.”

”The current biggest problem for the Armed Corps is the insufficient officers, the mongooses need time to grow.”

Su Huan tapped his finger lightly, eyes thoughtful, ”Mm, critical times require backbone, can pull a few veterans from the combat team, and I’ve opened up a lot of recruitment slots, pick some replenishments from the survivors, forming a generational gap.”

”Lastly, regarding the future core professions of the Armed Corps, I’ve discussed with Director Xu and tentatively settled a few. You should find time to check with him, adjust freely, once the evolution resources are abundant, I’ll prioritize the officers. You know me, only results matter.”

”Yes!”

All officers responded in unison.
