Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 356: Chapter 243: The Train’s Power Problem

(Cultivation tank schematic, one for the Ancient Babylon ”Floating” Gardens, two for the Linglong scene concept map)

Perhaps in many years, the floating park will become a world wonder like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, but for now, it is just a small circular platform with a diameter of thirty-five meters.

There’s hardly any cover, a glance reveals everything.

On both sides, there are three tiers of stepped rooms. Although there’s one more layer than a train, clever design makes the ceilings not suffocatingly low.

These structures squeeze internal space, but none of them touch the ground; they are partly suspended.

This space is specially reserved for light-sensitive twilight plants.

The depth of the bottom-tier rooms is only three meters, while the middle-tier rooms reach a depth of five meters, extending out over two meters and tightly covering the lower-level rooms.

These lower-level rooms are specially designed to store light-sensitive materials, experimental items, etc.

After all, the train needs to sustain more than a thousand people long-term, and occasionally take care of five thousand survivors.

No storage space is too much.

The top tier, which is the third floor, is similar in depth to the bottom tier at only three meters, similar in size to soldier dormitories, though the doorways are somewhat narrow, accommodating only thirty twin rooms with the extra space used for a public restroom.

The more spacious second floor can be used for experiments and temporary activities.

Although it only adds a few double-decker carriages in terms of area, psychologically, it feels like a relief for everyone on the train.

At leisure, besides the deck and inside the train, there’s a place to take a few steps.

Not so confining.

Su Huan took a walk around above, noting many internal details not yet in place; the logistics and research crew were busy testing water, electricity, cameras, and other basic facilities in every corner.

While walking the corridor, he spotted Hushuo rushing up and down quickly two to three times.

Though it’s somewhat delaying, from the moment the cultivation tank was lowered into the water, every task fell solely to the crew.

The survivors no longer had the privilege to enter here.

Su Huan strolled along the corridor towards the Crown Pear tree, then wound up the spiral staircase to the tree crown.

The group of people talking immediately stopped when they saw him.

They looked at him with awe.

At the forefront were Huang Sea and Xiaowang, followed by Li Han and four other plant-related Evolvers.

Among them, only Li Han was a ”Controller”; the rest, including Huang Sea, were ”Makers” and ”Gatherers.”

The latter two professions aren’t directly linked to plants, but they determined their direction when awakening their second skill.

Awakening new skills this quickly makes them stand out among five thousand people.

When the giant tree was erected, Li Han interacted with Su Huan for a few days, becoming somewhat familiar. As soon as Huang Sea greeted him, he respectfully called him Train Captain.

Su Huan chatted with Old Huang a bit, and the latter talked about some conditions of grafting pears and their thoughts on changing fertilizer ratios.

Su Huan listened as if understanding, though he didn’t comprehend it. He relied on his powerful memory to memorize the terms and data Old Huang mentioned, enough to cross-check when needed.

Only then did he turn to look at Li Han.

Those narrow eyes made him feel immense pressure.

In just a few days encounter with the train, his life’s trajectory had already shifted dramatically.

He first encountered a mongoose, narrowly escaping death from He Jie’s hands, becoming a plant Evolver and rising to prominence among three thousand survivors, barely gaining some confidence to control his fate.

Then he was personally recruited by the logistics group’s conductor Hushuo into the armed train.

Participating in the ”Floating Giant Trees” project, and being a critical core at that.

Initially, he had no such concept, but later discovered that the entire armed train’s one-month endeavor revolved around this giant tree, causing Li Han to feel both anxious and excited.

The cultivation tank, such a large project, was built specifically for erecting this tree.

So shouldn’t he, as someone who can prolong the tree’s life, be considered important?

However, the armed train’s ruthless working style still caused his heart to tremble.

Before he could even fret for long, Iron Mountain Shelter’s full two thousand people, including Iron Old Man and the Qi Brothers, were forcibly relocated by the Train Captain.

Li Han’s respect for the Train Captain soared to new heights.

But after making contact, he found the Train Captain was actually... quite kind.

Not at all the rumored type with terrifying habits of killing at a word.

Loved to sit high and idle, occasionally casting cold, narrow eyes over the bustling crowd below.

Didn’t even speak up if he saw someone slacking off.

Before coming today, the conductor Hushuo told him to perform well, and he asked further, only getting a mysterious smile in response.

Now seeing the Train Captain, Li Han’s heart pounded like a drum.

”No issues with you managing the cultivation tank, right?”

The Train Captain’s voice was gentle, as if asking what he had for meals.

Yet the content of the words stirred up huge waves in Li Han’s heart.

Such a significant project as the cultivation tank, entrusted to him?

Although his time on the train wasn’t long, he figured out the promotion rules.

Most crew below third level handle specific tasks, such as cooking, repairing a particular device, or taking production posts.

At fourth and fifth level, they basically enter management, leading a team responsible for a production line or important post.

Just like Eyes On at the head command platform, a power second only to the conductor.
