Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 358: Chapter 244: Vortex

Despite the heavy wind and rain, and the person looking quite disheveled, the mongoose could still recognize that it was Li Han.

The mongoose was slightly puzzled, its round beastly eyes following his position.

All the way to the deck beneath its feet.

”What do you want to do?”

The mongoose asked.

Li Han raised his head, unable to open his eyes under the onslaught of the torrential rain, and he didn’t have a raincoat. Just this short time left him without a dry spot on him.

”Pull me up first.”

Li Han shouted loudly.

”The wind is strong up here, you won’t be able to stand.”

The mongoose’s voice was clear, but when it reached Li Han’s ears, it carried a rumbling vibration that struck his core.

”It’s okay, I have this!”

Li Han raised his hand, revealing a touch of tender green vine within his sleeve.

The mongoose then remembered that the other party was a ”manipulator” of the plant type. Though the vine was small, its strength was comparable to iron wire. After a thought, the mongoose leaned over the edge of the train and extended a paw.

Seeing the other party hesitate for a moment, it then remembered to retract its claws.

Having used them so often, it couldn’t distinguish if they were hands or paws anymore.

Grasping the vine, it hauled Li Han up in one swift motion.

The two stood atop the train, holding onto the vine.

The mongoose asked again, ”Why are you here?”

Li Han scratched his head, ”Oh, I came to find you.”

The mongoose’s expression turned serious, ”Is there a mission?”

Finishing, it prepared to jump down.

Li Han quickly tugged on the vine in his hand, ”No, I wanted to share some good news with you...”

He relayed the complete news about the cultivation cabin he was responsible for to the mongoose.

As the mongoose listened to Li Han speak, a trace of envy flashed in its eyes, ”How wonderful.”

Currently, she was merely a reserve in the Armed Corps. The last temporary task given by Major Yu Yue had helped her accumulate some task points.

But she was still a bit short of being a private.

In the armed train, there’s no concept of tenure or seniority for promotions. Aside from being noticed and promoted by the train conductor, one can only accrue task points for advancement.

Task points and normal points have the same effect, but their accumulation can lead to rank promotion.

For so long, her rank had not moved an inch.

And the Li Han she just rescued not long ago was about to become a Level 5 crew member under the purser.

”What did you say?”

Li Han saw the mongoose’s lips move, but the rain was too heavy and the wind too loud, he couldn’t hear clearly.

The mongoose replied earnestly, ”Then work hard, the train conductor is always generous to capable people.”

Li Han still wanted to say something, but suddenly noticed many drones on the train starting to lift off in the pouring rain.

Their blades sliced through the rain curtain, setting off waves of wind.

The mongoose turned to look into the distance, where the water was empty, leaving only turbulent waves.

Majestic enough to make one feel despair.

The torrential rain was so dense it prematurely darkened the entire sky, even more so than the landslides they had encountered before.

An overwhelming sense of terror surged from all directions.

She didn’t know where the danger was coming from, but her animal instincts feared nature so much she couldn’t catch her breath.

”Something’s about to happen, get inside the train quickly!”

...

Inside the armed train.

Su Huan stood on the highest command platform, hands resting on the rail, observing the busy workers below.

Besides the people originally wearing glasses, Xiaozhao also led a large team from the research group, conducting analysis and mapping in front of the equipment.

”The storm has intensified.”

”Has the video footage been transmitted back?”

”It’s already been packaged and stored in the archive, experts in the rear carriages can access it themselves.”

”Monitoring the energy reactions...”

”The storm is too severe, we have already lost five small drones!”

”Damn, another one just blew up!”

The drone operator shouted, but everyone else was too busy to pay him any attention right now.

Xiaozhao and Shu Wei moved between the various command platforms, one asking questions in a low voice, the other silently observing.

Then they returned to Su Huan’s side in turn to report the information.

Xiaozhao said, ”Train conductor, currently it appears the natural disaster in the Flood Zone is fluctuating. The train will soon face a large storm, and Director Xu’s experts are calculating the expected losses for the train.”

”The supercomputer hasn’t been fully activated; otherwise, the calculations would be faster.”

Looking at the panoramic screen showing the storm outside the train, Su Huan suddenly asked, ”How long until we reach Jingchao Lake?”

”About a day and a half more.”

Xiaozhao did a quick calculation and answered.

”Then call me when we arrive.”

Su Huan impatiently waved his hand, said goodbye to Liang Kuan lying on a chair below, and walked straight to the rear.

Behind the train head was his No. 1 carriage, and it wouldn’t take long to walk there.

But waking up from a dream for any reason leaves a grievance in the heart.

He hadn’t rested for many days now.

Now, even if the armed train sank to the bottom of the water, it would be fine.

Just a mere storm, would it really disturb his sleep?

The Flood Zone is nothing more.

The train conductor returned to his room, lay directly on the bed, and instinctively pulled out a pillow to hug. But the pillow was a bit too short, hugging the top couldn’t reach the bottom, and hugging the bottom couldn’t reach the top.

Plus, the lines weren’t so fitting to the body.

However he adjusted it, it was uncomfortable.

After thinking for a bit, the train conductor beckoned with a finger toward the secretary standing at the bedside.

The neat professional outfit fell to the bedside orderly.

The curvaceous body was icy cold, but it carried astonishing elasticity, releasing a faint warmth from within at every touch.

His hands lay on the convex parts, and his legs rested on the concave parts.

Su Huan attempted to fit his body against the soft new pillow.

He silently marveled at the Creator’s wonders, for producing both a rascal like him and a masterpiece like Shu Wei.

Every curve was significant.
