Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 360: Chapter 244: Vortex_3

...

The porthole was blurred by the torrential rain, but the gigantic whirlpool resembling a basin in the distance was unmistakable.

The entire train was almost sucked sideways into the vortex.

If Su Huan hadn’t temporarily injected a batch of energy, it would have completely lost control by now.

This was no longer a harmless storm; it was a vortex capable of tearing apart the armored train!

The Flood Zone finally tore off its mask of gentleness, revealing its true face to this group of outsider challengers.

Carriage 27, the living space for the sanctuary survivors, was extremely narrow, utilizing the space to its utmost extent, and the windows were exceedingly sparse.

All the passengers at this moment had their faces pressed against the few available windows.

The middle window was crowded with seven or eight faces, with Xiaodong’s nose and face deformed in the center from the pressure.

Staring at the distant whirlpool and towering waves, Xiaodong felt his limbs grow cold, and cold sweat uncontrollably poured from his body.

He could only forcefully press his face closer to the window, trying to see more clearly.

Something tangible to offset the terror in his heart.

”Xiaodong...”

”Xiaodong!”

A low call snapped Xiaodong back to reality.

Turning around, he saw Iron Old Man sitting on the bed calling him, alongside two uncles with faces ashen.

Qi Zhendong sighed, ”This time the three of us are really done for, lucky we left Big Brother at home.”

Qi Zhenbang rubbed the goosebumps on his arm, with a trace of hopefulness saying, ”The train is so sturdy, maybe it can make it through...”

”Make it through?”

Qi Zhendong sneered, tainted with a degree of self-abandonment.

”This is no locust disaster, this is a natural disaster!”

”Even if that Su guy was the reincarnation of Yu the Great, he’d still die!”

”Everyone will die, no one can survive!”

Not knowing how he left the window, Xiaodong moved like a lifeless corpse to Iron Old Man’s bedside.

Qi Zhendong’s words and the howling water outside the vehicle crashed against his heart.

The terrifying natural disaster transformed into a flood of fear, swallowing up his hopes.

No end in sight, no glimpse of light.

Looking at Iron Old Man, Xiaodong’s throat tightened, and a trembling cry emerged from it.

”Grandpa Tie...”

Yet the cry was not piercing; the train was already filled with uncontrollable crying.

Some sobbed softly, others wailed loudly.

More cursed heaven and earth.

All their fears since the apocalypse were vented in cries and curses.

The cry filled with negative emotions resounded in the carriage like thunder.

Iron Old Man glanced at his son, yet his demeanor remained unchanged.

Still the same as before boarding, hard, stubborn!

”Already scared?”

Iron Old Man’s voice lacked its usual gentleness, sounding like an old wolf, roaring from the chest.

His eyes seemed to glow faintly green.

Xiaodong’s crying got stuck in his throat, unsure whether to continue.

”I...”

”It’s right to be scared.”

Iron Old Man suddenly smiled.

”Grandpa, aren’t you scared?”

Xiaodong asked.

”I’ve lived to seventy-eight, what the hell should I be scared of!”

Iron Old Man swore.

Yet Xiaodong found it not offensive, instead feeling the words embolden him.

The fear in his heart was pushed back considerably.

His eyes became lively.

Iron Old Man sat up from the bed, his murky glasses shone brilliantly, ”When I first went to the battlefield, I was scared too, scared to death, scared I couldn’t sleep, the squad leader had me on sentry duty, watching the candle in the snow cave, calling him every two hours.”

”I held my gun, anxious all night, thinking to go all out when the enemy appeared!”

”In the end, I endured the night, my mind muddled, but when I actually saw the enemy, I was no longer afraid, holding my gun I charged forward.”

”Because of that battle, I earned merit, being called Guan Chong Iron Mountain.”

”At the time, the leader asked if I was scared, I straightforwardly said yes.”

”He laughed heartily patting my shoulder, saying he didn’t expect Guan Chong Iron Mountain to be scared too, but fear is right, fear is just the final hurdle before victory, cross it, and it’s a new world!”

...

Xiaozhao spoke with bitterness, ”Already operating, but the train’s space is vast, sinking isn’t something that can be achieved in one or two minutes.”

Su Huan wanted to ask something more, but was interrupted by the piercing alarm.

”High-intensity energy waves under the water!”

The personnel managing energy monitoring devices shouted.

Su Huan rubbed his ear, ”Can’t they turn off this sharp sound?”

The staff paused, quickly turning off the alarm.

Su Huan looked up at the experts on the screen, earnestly asking, ”With the amount of explosives on the train, can it disrupt the vortex’s balance?”

(The key broke, pliers ignite)
