Chapter 976, I’ll Take on Five at Once

Translator: Silavin

Over two hundred Players who entered the final test were all below a ring, while in one corner of the ring sat the Archpriest of the Tsukimi Sect, presiding over the entire final test.

The final test was very simple. The Archpriest would read out the candidates’ names according to their scores, from highest to lowest. At the same time, the list and scores of the over two hundred candidates were also written on a light screen by the Archpriest using some kind of Skill. Any candidate whose name was called could select any candidate on the list as their opponent for a one-on-one, PvP match.

The victor could become a member of the Tsukimi Sect, while the loser could only wait until the next time the Tsukimi Sect recruited members to try again.

According to these rules, the higher the score, the greater the advantage. Because those with higher scores had more choices for their opponent. They could choose those with the lowest scores to ensure they could easily enter the Tsukimi Sect.

Such arrangements were made with this fact in mind, ensuring that the Players recruited were the strongest batch among the over two hundred Players.

As for the first place holder eliminating the second place holder, such things could also occur. However, honestly speaking, which Player would be foolish enough to pick an opponent with a ranking close to their own?

Selecting an opponent with weaker strength to ensure entry into the Tsukimi Sect was the most logical choice.

As the light screen with names appeared, everyone’s names and rankings were displayed in order.

Lu Fan and the others’ names were naturally still not their real names, like ‘Kaimon Eiko’, but since there was no one who understood their language present, no one noticed anything suspicious.

As the light screen unfurled, one could see that the one ranked first in the second round was none other than Mikami Heiji.

And this did not exceed anyone’s expectations. After all, Mikami Heiji had scored a full eight thousand plus, if he was not first, who could it be?

The Archpriest looked once and announced loudly, “First battle of the final test, Mikami Heiji selects his opponent!”

Under everyone’s gaze, Mikami Heiji walked out from the crowd and came onto the ring.

He dare not disrespect the Archpriest, so he first bowed to the Archpriest upon arriving, then began selecting his opponent.

But he did not look toward the light screen. Instead, he scanned among the over two hundred people waiting for the final test, his gaze finally falling unsurprisingly on Lu Fan.

“Archpriest, I want to fight that person!” Mikami Heiji sneered and pointed at Lu Fan.

The Archpriest nodded without objection, saying, “Accepted. Then, today’s first battle will begin between you two. The victor will join the Tsukimi Sect, the loser will be eliminated.”

“Wait, Archpriest.” Mikami Heiji suddenly said again, “Actually, I don’t just want to challenge that person. He has five friends. I want to challenge them all together. It will be me alone against their five!”

The Archpriest immediately frowned upon hearing this, saying, “This… doesn’t follow the rules. The rules for this round are to have all those who passed the second round engage in one-on-one matches. This will settle the number of new members at around one hundred. Whether you win or lose in this one against five, the result will be difficult to handle.”

“Nothing difficult about it.” Mikami Heiji smiled, “How about this, if I can defeat all five of them, they’ll all be eliminated. After all, if all five are unable to defeat me combined, such trash does not deserve to become part of the Tsukimi Sect, right? And by the off chance that I lose, though this possibility is infinitesimal, then I’ll be eliminated and those five will enter the Tsukimi Sect.”

“In fact, I’ll donate ten Epic Grade items to the Tsukimi Sect as the admission fee for these five people.”

These words caused the Archpriest to fall into contemplation.

If Mikami Heiji lost and five people entered the Tsukimi Sect, this clearly did not follow the rules. However, if doing so could gain ten Epic Grade items for the Tsukimi Sect, it didn’t seem like a bad deal…

After all, the Players who could enter the final test were all strong. In the past, they would all possess the qualification to enter the Tsukimi Sect.

It was only because too many people registered to join the Sect this time that the average Level of people that could join increased considerably. Even though these people were good, half still had to be eliminated.

Therefore, actually letting them join was fine.

And if he agreed to Mikami Heiji’s terms, everything would work out either way.

If Mikami Heiji won, eliminating five people was fine; after all, the Tsukimi Sect had a limited quota for their new recruits. Four less made no difference.

And if Mikami Heiji lost, that would be even better.

Ten Epic Grade items. He could pocket two or three, and submit the rest upward without issue.

Thus, after some consideration, the Archpriest finally nodded, “Fine, this is acceptable. But, your request doesn’t conform to our Sect’s regulations. For me to agree, you need to first submit one Epic Grade item.”

Mikami Heiji frowned slightly upon hearing this.

He did indeed have ten Epic Grade items. However, he had no intention of handing them over. After all, putting forth ten Epic Grade items as a wager was built on his confidence that he could eliminate Lu Fan and the others.

He was confident that he would not need to take out those ten Epic Grade items at all.

But this Archpriest clearly intended to extort benefits before he could even begin, which was why he wanted him to hand over one Epic Grade item.

Mikami Heiji felt he was taking a huge loss. Just wanting to teach Lu Fan and the others a lesson, yet he himself had to suffer losses. Wasn’t this the classic of ‘harming others without benefiting oneself’?

However, having already said such words, if he backed out now and said he did not want to do it anymore, in front of so many people, wouldn’t that be slapping his own face?

Mikami Heiji cursed this Archpriest in his heart, but could only put on a brave front. At the same time, he decided that after teaching Lu Fan and the others a lesson and preventing them from entering the Tsukimi Sect. That he would take this opportunity to punish them properly.

Especially that woman who was a Cook, and those two other fresh young ladies; he definitely would not let any of them go.

If he could get all three of these women, then one Epic Grade item did not seem like too much of a loss…

Having made up his mind, Mikami Heiji’s heart cooled down somewhat. He nodded, “No problem!”

After saying this, he took out an Epic Grade item that he did not have much use for and passed it to the Archpriest.

The Archpriest put away the Epic Grade item, examined its Attributes, and was not particularly satisfied with it.

However, this was still an Epic Grade item that could sell for a decent price, so he did not nitpick and just accepted it.
