Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 964, Lu Fan Killed?!

Translator: Silavin

This golden light packed a ton of power.

At the same time, anyone struck by the golden light would have all their Skills sealed and all Buffs removed.

In other words, once struck by the golden light, one could only rely on their own Defence and Health Pool to endure.

Wanting to release a Defensive Skill, or have someone nearby apply Buffs, or use an Movement Skill to avoid it, none of these would work.

If one could not endure, death was the only outcome.

Even if Lu Fan had a Skil that could resurrect him, they would be useless.

Because this Skill would seal off all of Lu Fan’s Skills, even Resurrection. So, he could not use any of them.

The golden light pierced through Lu Fan’s chest. Clearly, its power had exceeded the limits of what Lu Fan could withstand.

After all, this Skill was released by an Ancient God expending all their Ancient God Power. Even though this Ancient God’s degree of awakening was not high, a desperate final strike was enough to kill Lu Fan.

Sure enough, after this golden light directly pierced Lu Fan’s body, all the Ancient Gods saw Lu Fan’s body devoured by the golden light, ultimately transforming into points of light that dispersed.

His Pet Dragons were also forcibly returned to the Pet Sub-Space with Lu Fan’s death, disappearing from this place.

Suddenly, the surroundings fell completely silent.

The Ancient God that had released that Skill immediately became listless, its already small  form directly shrinking to palm-size, resembling a giant meat worm, extremely weak.

It appeared that at this moment, any random Second Profession Player could easily kill it off.

This was indeed the case.

It had released all the Ancient God Power it had accumulated, fearing that if it could not kill Lu Fan, they would die instead.

So that strike just now had almost completely drained all its power.

If the Skill Power  had increased any further, it would probably have died right there, entering slumber to only awaken in the next era.

Right now, with all its Ancient God Power depleted, it would need to wait until its Stamina recovered somewhat before it could so much as move.

However, to restore to its previous strength, it would require devouring and resting for quite a long time.

Even so, this Ancient God did not regret paying such a steep price to kill Lu Fan. After all, where there was life, there was hope. If it had not killed Lu Fan, everyone would have died.

“Well done!” Another Ancient God was extremely excited, shattering the ice layer on its body.

Another Ancient God did the same, looking toward its weakened companion and praising. “Fortunately, you could still release your Ancient God Power to form that Ultimate Death Beam.”

“If not for your Skill, all three of us would have been finished.”

The weakened Ancient God spoke with laboured breath. “The price of killing him was too high. I feel like I’ve returned to when I first regained consciousness. Even moving my limbs is difficult. The depletion of Stamina and Ancient God Power are too severe. I need to rest and replenish. Right now, I’m too weak. We three have been allied for several eras. I think you two should want to find a way to help me restore my strength, right?”

The other two Ancient Gods glanced at each other. Secretly, both harboured a trace of greed.

Honestly, although their companion before them had severely depleted its Stamina and hardly had any Ancient God Power left within, it was ultimately still a genuine Ancient God.

If they could absorb it, both their degrees of awakening would increase substantially.

Not to say they could contend with High Tier Ancient Gods like the Fallen Corpse Ancient God, but at least they would not be inferior to some Mid Tier Ancient Gods.

All three of them had originally been Low Tier Ancient Gods. Even though they had been allied for several eras, they would always remain Low Tier Ancient Gods, never even becoming Mid Tier.

They had no grand ambitions to participate in the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy and become God King.

As long as they could become somewhat stronger and achieve Mid Tier status, so they would not become fodder for the other Ancient Gods every Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy, they would be satisfied.

Once they became Mid Tier Ancient Gods, they could continue striving toward High Tier.

Perhaps after several eras, they might not lack the opportunity to become the God King.

Even Ancient Gods feared being perpetually ranked as Low Tier and forever remaining so.

The total sum of Ancient God Power was fixed. Only by devouring other Ancient Gods and obtaining more Ancient God Power could one advance from Low Tier to Mid Tier, pulling other Mid Tier Ancient Gods down.

The reason these three Ancient Gods were so weak now was precisely because in every Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy, they ranked at the bottom, forming a vicious cycle.

Even with all three banding together, they had not changed this reality.

Of course, their alliance was not completely without purpose.

They were simply too weak. Without banding together, they would long ago have become the lowest-ranked Ancient Gods, perhaps even having their Divine Seats stripped.

So, these three Ancient Gods truly wanted to turn their situation around.

All along, the three Ancient Gods had possessed equivalent strength. This was the foundation of their cooperation.

Now, with one Ancient God weakened to this state, for the others, it seemed like a rare opportunity.

If they could absorb it, though they might forever lose a companion, their degree of awakening would increase.

They also knew the whereabouts of two even weaker Low Tier Ancient Gods. If they could absorb this companion, gain the power to freely walk the world, then absorb those other two Low Tier Ancient Gods, wouldn’t they gain a decisive advantage? Their degree of awakening might even surpass some Mid Tier Ancient Gods?

If luck favoured them further, and a few Mid Tier Ancient Gods fell to their schemes, then in this era, both of them could advance to Mid Tier…

Thinking this, the two were undoubtedly tempted.

The abnormal behaviour of the two made the weakened Ancient God aware.

Its heart chilled as it coldly warned. “We’ve cooperated together for several eras. Are you really sure you want to target me now? If you kill me, you two won’t be able to control the Asura King.”

This statement reminded the other two.

Indeed, activating the Asura King required the power of all three Ancient Gods; none could be missing.

Currently, the Asura King remained an important source of their Combat Power and could not be lost.

Thinking this, one Ancient God smiled. “You’re being overly cautious. We three have been together for multiple eras, always cooperating closely. How could we possibly harbour any ulterior motives against you?”

Another Ancient God added. “Exactly. Whether emotionally or rationally, we’ll properly help you restore your condition. We could never lay a finger on you.”
