Chapter 1129: Chapter 388: School Secrets

As the question was posed, the luxurious reception room suddenly became silent enough to hear a pin drop.

The representatives of the Conservative Party nobles present either frowned, silently sipped their tea, or took a heavy drag on their pipes...

No one spoke up.

Because since even the strongest legend ’Carver’ Lord Harold had died at the opponent’s hands, in the absence of direct intervention from the Imperial Guardian, there was very little they could do openly.

...

As time passed, the nobles present left one after another, and at this point, the Duke of Drum, looking grim, beckoned to his butler, Owen, standing to the side.

”Your Grace.” Butler Owen bowed respectfully.

”Disclose, through several covert channels, the specific achievements of Rein in defeating the Black Flame Cult, Sea God Sect, and Secret Snake Sect.”

”As you command, my lord.” Butler Owen’s eyes lit up, and he immediately bowed in agreement.

He instantly understood what his Duke intended.

Since they couldn’t do much openly, they had to resort to some clandestine methods.

Due to the confidentiality of the Sword Bearer’s specific missions and actions, although the cults knew that one of their Chief Priests or Great Priests had been slain by the Sword Bearer, they didn’t know exactly who did it.

And once the cults found out who specifically was responsible, they would swarm towards Rein like sharks smelling blood or hornets whose nest had been disturbed.

Of course, this would have nothing to do with them.

...

Meanwhile.

On the return journey, Major General Tatia and Rein chatted intermittently:

”This time, the Conservative Party dared to move against you mainly because, although you’re very powerful, you’ve been in the Imperial City for too short a time, and your reputation mainly remains within the Sword Holder Headquarters.”

”Considering possible future developments, Lord Rein, I suggest relocating all your family from Minter to the Imperial City. What do you think?”

”Thank you, I have no objections, though the residence...”

”Is it the issue of the residence? Headquarters will arrange for it, rest assured.” Tatia smiled slightly and said.

”Well, thank you.” Rein smiled.

”By the way, Lord Rein, I suggest that you refrain from taking on any missions or leaving Imperial City Tamriel until the situation subsides. Would that be okay?”

”Alright.” Rein nodded.

...

As soon as Rein returned to the Bavarian family’s residence, he saw both Halowin and Luther waiting in the hall with serious expressions.

Evidently, they had heard something.

Upon seeing Rein, Luther’s expression relaxed a bit, and he stepped forward, saying: ”Lord Rein, is that news true?”

”Yes.” Rein nodded, but upon thinking, did not explain further.

”Hiss~” Halowin and Luther exchanged a glance, both seeing shock in each other’s eyes.

”Lord Rein, just a moment ago, I received a letter from my father. Yesterday, the Drum family sent a representative to Minter to discuss your matters with him.” Halowin said.

”Oh? Was it to exert pressure?” Rein immediately guessed their intention.

”Yes, they hoped our Bavarian family would sever ties with you. Ideally, they would like us to do something.” Halowin did not explicitly say the rest.

”I’m sorry for putting you and the Duke in a difficult position.” Rein said apologetically.

”Lord Rein, my father refused their suggestion, saying you had made outstanding contributions to Minter, and while he might offer some help, he would never add insult to injury.”

”Please convey my gratitude to the Duke of Minter for his support.” Rein’s expression turned serious as he looked at Halowin earnestly.

”Lord Halowin, I will move out a bit later....”

”Lord Rein!” Halowin hurriedly wanted to say something, only to see Rein raise his hand to interrupt him.

”Lord Halowin, I know what you want to say, but the other side is a giant. There’s no need for the Bavarian family to get involved too deeply. Besides, the Sword Holder Headquarters has already arranged a residence for me.”

Rein wasn’t sure if their support of him was influenced by the Reformist, or the result of discussions between Admiral Edward and the Duke of Minter.

But in his view, if the Duke of Minter, as a regional authority, clashed head-on with the Conservative Party, the losses would be too great and unnecessary.

Additionally, sometimes having one’s strength hidden beneath the surface might provide even more significant assistance.

That afternoon.

Rein took Anna, and the two rode a carriage to the new residence arranged for him by the Sword Holder Headquarters.

Although the location was in the Second Ring of the Imperial City, it was still a noble area, surrounded by Marquises and Earls, and safety was generally not a concern.

Furthermore, the ownership of this mansion, in essence, did not belong to Rein, but in practice, he could use it for as long as he wanted.

Major General Tatia was waiting early at the gate of the new residence for Rein, and upon seeing them, she began to introduce it: ”Lord Rein, this mansion originally belonged to an Earl...”

”See if you are satisfied?”

The size and layout of this mansion were remarkably similar to Rein’s residence in Minter. After a quick tour, Rein promptly decided that this would be the one.

...

The next morning.

Suddenly, there was a commotion at the gate of the new residence.

Looking through the window of the study in the new residence, Rein saw his sister Bo He, his mother Emma, and his father, old Rein, alighting from a luxurious carriage.
