Warhammer Divine Throne

Laine’s letter to Teresa was not long.

At least not as long as the female sorcerer had imagined. In the letter, Laine briefly explained his recent situation and changes in status.

After a brief greeting, Laine tactfully expressed that his territory governance needed the help of a witch, and asked Teresa if she was interested, promising to pay the usual rate.

Finally, Laine conveyed his regards to her and her mother.

That’s it? Nothing more?

Teresa leaned against the soft sofa cushions. After taking off her mink coat, the female sorcerer was left with a gold-thread embroidered shirt and loose black wide-leg pants, accentuating the long curve of her legs. She read Laine’s letter three times with deliberation, confirming that there was indeed no more content beyond those brief words on the parchment.

She felt a subtle disappointment in her heart.

The female sorcerer’s apprentice had witnessed her transition from impatience to eagerness and now to a somewhat silent demeanor. She dared not speak much, standing with lowered head in respectful silence.

”When did the letter arrive?” Surely, the question came.

”This afternoon, my Member of Parliament.”

”Was there anything else besides the letter?”

”No, my Member of Parliament.”

A hint of displeasure flashed in Teresa’s silver eyes. She softly said, ”Alright, I understand, you may leave.”

”Yes!” The young apprentice seemed ready to retreat, but the female sorcerer quickly called her back: ”Wait! How did you receive this letter when it arrived at Celestial Vault Castle, were there any other letters?”

”I was present when the messenger arrived at Celestial Vault Castle, my Member of Parliament. As for letters, there was indeed another letter sent together.” The young apprentice thought for a moment, seemingly recalling previous events: ”The other letter was sent to Member of Parliament Veronica and was taken away by Catherine.”

He sent one to Veronica too! Teresa squinted her eyes, sparks bursting in her silver pupils: ”Alright, I understand, you may retreat.”

The apprentice left, and the room returned to quiet. Witches mostly preferred silence, especially in their own Wizard Tower, as Teresa forced herself to stabilize her emotions.

After nearly a year, was receiving Laine’s letter a joy to the female sorcerer?

Of course, without a doubt.

Her long black hair cascaded over the sofa, and the female sorcerer’s skin, like mutton-fat jade, shone beautifully. After a year, she had grown more mature and stronger.

However, the distance between her and Laine had also grown.

Outside the window, the weather was clear, and thick white snow had covered the peaks, dressing the high mountains near Celestial Vault Castle in thick winter garments. The wind roared, sweeping through the Wizard Towers.

Inside, the warm fire crackled with sparks. Teresa held the letter, read it carefully again, and confirmed there was indeed nothing amiss, sighed lightly, and countless past memories surged in her heart.

She decided to seek out her mother and ask for her opinion.

As the female sorcerer headed to the tall tower to her mother’s room, within the Jialan Council, through the corridors of Celestial Vault Castle, a little girl was running hard, her golden hair fluttering in the air, while her black small shoes clattered.

The majestic Celestial Vault Castle towered into the clouds, covering a large area as a castle. Its interior had formed into a miniature city long ago, with several Wizard Towers connecting the corridors in the sky. Moving from one place to another took considerable time.

In the corridors, many witches and wizard apprentices were startled by the little girl’s urgency.

”What’s wrong, Catherine?”

”Catherine! You nearly ran into me, you know?”

”Any latest news?”

Witch apprentices were often in class together with mentors. They wore standard red witch dresses and robes, and many recognized the little witch in front. She was the apprentice of Member of Parliament Veronica.

”It’s urgent! Please make way!” Catherine panted, gesturing to everyone to make way. She had received a very important letter and needed to take it to the Member of Parliament immediately.

Running through corridors, descending a series of stairs, then following a long slope, Catherine arrived at a tower’s gateway.

It was a wooden door, and the path before the door was completely blocked by a wolf statue, seemingly with no way forward.

Catherine stopped, and the apprentice’s forehead was already beaded with sweat. She stood before the statue, took a deep breath: ”Request to enter.”

”Please state the password.” The statue said.

”Laine is a heartbreaker.” Catherine glanced around seeing no one, blushing as she whispered.

”Correct answer.” The statue moved aside, revealing the door inside.

This was Veronica’s residence.

Different from the wealthy mother-daughter Aurora, Veronica, who carved her path out of the witch apprentice army, did not have the means to build her own Wizard Tower at first. She was even very poor and sometimes had to wander outside for most of the year, finding ways to earn money.

Now it’s different. With her power and status continuously rising, especially after Laine’s fame spread and his status rose, Veronica gained more attention from Jialan Speaker Margarita. After Veronica completed the Aesthetic Society tasks and returned, Margarita arranged for this small tower for Veronica’s residence.
