Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 143: Chapter 10 The Intense Battle, Player’s Commentary_2

”It’s only the Student Alliance that could easily get over such a loss; anyone else would’ve gone to Mr. Lu to pick a real fight.”

”Let’s not talk about this, we can’t afford to add fuel to the fire!”

”Focus on the scene! Talk about the scene!”

Currently, the Lord’s Mansion is still holding strong. The shields cast by the Mages are breaking constantly, but they are being quickly restored.”

And Black and White Path really does have a lot of money! This Magic Array gets fully restored once it’s down to half health!”

”That’s right, if we were as broke as these poor souls, we wouldn’t dare use Crystal Stones until we had less than one-fifth of our health left!”

”It seems the Alliance has more hidden Mages than Swordsmen! By my estimate, this is a combination of 10,000 Swordsmen and 20,000 Mages.”

”What material is the Lord’s Mansion of the Black and White Path made of? It’s three stories tall, right? How could they hide so many people in there?”

”One look and you know it’s an Alchemy Hut sold by Mr. Hill. It’s said that he sold a lot of these during his time in Obastian, and some were very expensive, all made by Master Fran.”

”It was about then that Black Rose got connected with Mr. Hill. They’ve really got serious good fortune!”

”The game’s pretty realistic; NPCs treat us outsiders with precaution first and foremost. Even when handing out quests, they’re very impersonal and resistant. To have such a naturally friendly NPC who also came with two Alchemy big shots, Black Rose really is lucky!”

”Alright, back to the hut, Mobi Chenxin does have a lot of money, and this one’s probably one of the priciest.

But it seems to have been worth it, the defensive power is very strong!

No doubt, the price of Alchemy Huts is going to skyrocket! Those who bought huts early are going to make a killing, there definitely will be people buying at high prices!”

”Don’t say we’re just talking nonsense! Everyone can see this scene.

Swordsmen keep dying, Mages are casting big spells, and Knights are howling and smashing the walls.”

”If we don’t chat, this scene, it’s like a copy-paste, do you guys really plan to just watch this?”

”If neither side gets reinforcements, then this stalemate will probably last until the Snow Cloud Peak army returns to the city.”

”Wait, hold on. Let’s connect our colleague’s camera to ours; the Magic Cult has sent reinforcements, Black Rose hasn’t arrived yet, probably because they’re holding down the two other cities.”

”There are already many of Black Rose’s Swordsmen and Priests below, and not a few Knights and Mages who went with Snow Cloud Peak to the Abyss; I guess there’s hardly anyone left.”

”The battle above is fierce! Is the Magic Cult planning to fight them to the death, arriving on both sides simultaneously to buy time?”

”That’s likely! The fight below hasn’t reached a life or death stage, it seems they don’t want the forces of Doomsday to continue descending!”

”Doomsday’s caught on! Mages are starting to jump down, while the Priest and Knight remain above to block the others.”

”Can I ask you guys a question?” Hill slowly spoke up, startling the two of them.

”When Mr. Hill asks us a question, everyone, please wait and hold your comments.”

”Please ask, Mr. Hill! And thank you for letting us squat here.” another person quickly chimed in.

”It’s nothing, you’ve had no ill intent. You can stay here as long as you like. I really want to know, why do the Mages still have to go down in a suicidal manner?” Hill had been baffled for a while, ”Flying down is quick too, right? Dying even once comes with a cost, doesn’t it?”

The two fell silent in an instant before both asking, ”We can still fly down?”

Hill remained silent, waiting for the two to give him an explanation.

”Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Hill has posed a very sharp question, and it requires an answer from us!

Why don’t Mage players fly down instead of meeting their doom?”

”That’s hard to answer, isn’t it? Why did the first batch die from falling?”

”Afraid they fly too slowly? Besides, there might’ve been Demons attacking stealthily back then, right? Everyone’s scared of dying halfway and having to run all over again?”

”I think they don’t fly head-down! The top speed of a Mage in flight definitely isn’t slower than gravity’s acceleration!”

”Maybe it’s because flying head-down they can’t brake in time? Isn’t it true that many Mages, when they first learned to fly, ended up crashing into mountains and going home?”

”The first bunch were in a hurry, that’s understandable, but what about these guys? To be honest, players are just being dumb!”

”How could no one have thought of it! But I’ve come to realize something: the other three professions can only meet their demise, only Mages can fly.

Even if someone thought of it, they wouldn’t be the first to say it out loud, would they? Wouldn’t they become a thorn in the side of the other three professions?

Mages are The Wise Ones, and no one wants to be snatched up in a sack the moment they leave the door!”

”So it’s either they didn’t think of it, or they’re playing dumb?”

”This group probably just doesn’t get it, right? Hasn’t anyone told them we’re live streaming?”

Huh? Are we really that unpopular? They’re fighting and no one’s watching our stream for some good battle analysis?”

”Ladies and gentlemen, give us some pity rewards! Our viewer count is dropping, what we gonna do if the boss fires us?”

Hill felt that players knew each other best; perhaps there were just a few reasons for this situation. Once he knew what was going on, he didn’t pay it any more mind and summoned the Wood Elemental Spirit from his pendant again, asking it to help replenish the Wood Magic for the beech.

Hill’s ears pricked up as he heard those few people dismissing their audience: ”Stop talking nonsense! How would we dare to ask Hill about these things? Didn’t you see these Wood Shields above our heads? If we weren’t hiding here, we would have been shaking in fear at the Revival Point long ago.

Your conscience is way too bad; are you trying to get us kicked out of this safe place by Mr. Hill?

We’ll never offend our only umbrella of protection! Forget about your pipe dreams!”

”Alright, ignore the jerks!

Let’s return to the two battlefields—both sides are fighting fiercely, but we need to leave some people up top to stop the reinforcements from the Magic Cult, and the group below can’t breakthrough!

Even with so many Mages coming one after another, the number is still not enough!

The defensive power of this house is really strong!

There’s only so much space at the main entrance, just enough for the swordsmen from both sides to tear at each other.

But we must remember, the expeditionary force from Snow Cloud Peak should have arrived by now! The battle at the Abyssal Gate must have started!

Too bad no one dares to live stream from that place!”

”It seems that’s not the case! Isn’t it that the signal over there is really bad and can’t be sent back?”

”Ah? Is that so? Since when? Did the Doomsday lot know about this already, and that’s why they seized the opportunity to attack?

Otherwise, the Snow Cloud Peak guys could totally just die and come back, wipe them out, and then continue fighting the demons.

You ask how they could wipe them out with the Revival Point there?

This bunch has all turned red-named; they’re losing levels! They’ll be so miserable dying that they’d probably just log off automatically!”

”Obviously! There are hundreds of thousands of them; Snow Cloud Peak doesn’t have the control to make everyone stop streaming videos!”

”You’re right!

Hey, this means we can start betting! We’ll make a choice—whether Snow Cloud Peak will triumphantly return or die and come back, until then, choose. If you think Doomsday can break through the core of Black and White Path’s territory, pick 1, if not, pick 2!

Little assistant, little assistant, come quickly, make a count!”

”To hell with your little assistant!

Okay, I’ve started the number count, only counting 1s and 2s; pressing 3, 4, 5, 6 is useless!

Get ready to time, one minute starting......

Stop!

Wow, the two sides are almost evenly matched, with 250,000 people choosing 1, and 230,000 choosing 2!

And then there are over 400,000 invalid votes—are you guys just killing time?”

”Whoa, all this real-time interaction? With so many people, how come there are so few rewards? Come on, esteemed guests, even a smile would be nice.”

”As the battle becomes more and more thrilling, our audience is growing. Please give some attention and likes to the reporters risking their lives amid the gunfire!”

”Up top! Up top! Doomsday has sent another wave of troops! The Magic Cult’s about to be wiped out!”

”Great! Looks like it’s time for the final showdown!”

”Look! Their Mages are starting to fly down now! See, we haven’t run out of breath yet, and they’re watching too!”

”Maybe the extra 20,000 who chose 1 were from their own side! Talk about confidence!”

”Magic Cult annihilated. The other Professions on the side of Doomsday have also jumped down.”

”It’s up to Black and White Path to hold the line now!”

”Wait a second, I’ve got urgent news, Black Rose and Wenjian are on the move!”

”Isn’t Wenjian busy with territory missions? Where were they hiding?”

”Hill Family!”

Hill lifted his head, looking up bewildered: My family?
