Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 140: The 9th Chapter: Fighting Demons Ahead, Getting Attacked From Behind

Hill didn’t pay any attention to that jerk who died instantly and continued, ”Right 2, release.”

Considering the level of hostility, Hill sequentially eliminated seven people, feeling that he was getting increasingly proficient with using the Forest Array.

Indeed, players are great to practice with, and there isn’t the uncomfortable feeling of killing, which is really great.

However, Hill noticed that these seven people, who had resurrected one after another, gathered together.

All were instantly resurrected, not giving the guards on the periphery time to check their body IDs.

Lately, Hill noticed that the names above players’ heads began to show in various colors, seemingly related to the elements they chose, but a function to minimize the names also appeared.

For these assassins, their names were minimized to the smallest size, making it impossible to make out without careful scrutiny.

Hill suspected that William was planning on letting players gradually integrate into this world, and when most players got accustomed to behaving according to the norms of this world, there might appear an option to hide the names.

Was he planning to keep this game running for over a hundred years?

What Hill found incredible was that those seven undercover agents gathered together, planning to recruit more people to set fire to the small forest.

Did they not see the massive Water Elemental he had summoned?

His message to Snow Cloud Peak meant he could see far outside, didn’t it?

Why would they talk right under his nose, were their tablets just for show?

Sometimes, the actions of these players were mysteriously odd.

Hill saw several figures quietly emerging behind them.

The guards might not know whom Hill had killed, but they could still accurately count how many had died.

Seven died here, seven meeting there, even a fool would know who they were.

About ten swordsmen swiftly took out those seven undercover agents, then guarded the church entrance.

Cutting down people at the revival point indeed seemed like a daily occurrence in PVP.

However, this did not stop the players from hostile gangs from continuously charging towards Hill’s forest.

This time, they seemed to have communicated with those few staying still inside the revival point and organized a small team.

Hill watched them assemble and exchange things like bombs. Exchanging items took about 20 minutes, enough time for Fenmo Wuxin, standing on the top of the Lord’s Mansion with the best view, to notice them.

The lady lightly swept her tablet, and in less than 2 minutes, over a hundred people captured that group of assassins in one fell swoop.

Although Hill was fully focused on defense, he felt a bit disappointed.

Two people, holding hands, started walking towards the small forest.

Hill looked down twice, then quickly stood up, clinging to the branches to see: Baby Guai was hanging on to someone not the old man, and who was this Brother Guai? His face didn’t match either!

Was this William introducing a name and appearance change function, or was it someone else entirely?

Luckily, these two players didn’t plan on letting Hill guess by themselves and began speaking as they entered the forest, ”Mr. Hill, I’m the old man from Black Rose City, I’ve changed my name, matching with my beloved’s.”

”I wasn’t planning on coming here, but he just chose a name that wouldn’t draw attention,” Baby Guai said with a smile, ”but then this place became too interesting, so I abandoned other matters and followed along.

The name was a bit troublesome; I always felt like I was playing with my grandpa.

Since the name-changing function was introduced, I made him change it.”

Both of them enlarged the names above their heads, and beneath Brother Guai’s name, there was a line of small text: Formerly known as ’Old Man.’

”You have to enlarge it to see,” Brother Guai said, scratching his head, ”after all, many don’t recognize me since I changed my name.

Luckily, William also has a former name feature, which we can check on our tablets.”

”You also changed your face,” Hill slowly said, ”I don’t think anyone would recognize you.”

”Originally, it was just a conservative uncle face!” Baby Guai said as a matter of fact, ”He was here alone, how could he dress all flashy? For whom to see?

Now that I’m here, of course, it’s different.

We couldn’t change it before, so I had to bear with it. But now that we can, seeing his face every day, it needs to be more pleasant to look at.”

Brother Guai nodded obediently: ”Baby Guai is right.”

Is being henpecked a tradition going back generations in your Black Rose lineage?

Brother Guai, not wanting to continue like this under the gaze of Black and White Path guards, quickly changed the subject: ”Mr. Hill, although we’ve caught a lot of people who wanted to assassinate you, there are a few notoriously cunning families that probably aren’t this foolish.”

Hill immediately knew whom they were talking about, Lu Tai the eunuch and Zhu Meili, right?

They are afraid that Hill would think everyone has been captured and then come out, aren’t they?

”Don’t worry, I won’t leave here,” Hill said, ”but keep an eye out for their fire attacks.”

”Ah!” Brother Guai exclaimed, ”You saw that too.”

He laughed, ”Can you see everything that happens within these walls?”

Baby Guai also laughed, ”Did someone at the front capture those few? It’s already spreading like wildfire in our world.”

They move fast indeed!

”Probably around 5 or 6 groups,” Hill answered, ”lingering in the woods. They all got filmed, not just those with hostile intentions.”

”Of course!” Brother Guai said matter-of-factly, ”If it were me, I’d film such a big scoop too.

Even my acquaintances, just keeping it for themselves to watch.”
