Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 133: Chapter 5: The Collapsed Tactics_2

”After you leave, I will change my location,” Hill told her with certainty.

”Then I will take them all with me,” Paintbrush said with a smile brimming with intent, ”Please, Mr. Hill, do not hold back. I am very curious about what skills you have with the Wood Element!

Unfortunately, wood magic is very rare. There are hardly any in the Mage Tower, and they are difficult to learn,”

”I will,” Hill did not want to continue discussing magic.

Paintbrush waited another 2 minutes, and seeing that Hill still would not speak, she could only leave with her people, her face filled with disappointment.

Players, regardless of gender, always liked to show their harmless side in front of NPCs.

Hill wondered whether he should tell her that his ears were very sensitive. He could hear conversations hundreds of meters away, not to mention loud curses.

Although she had crafted for herself an innocent, cute face with a bit of baby fat, deep down, Paintbrush was a domineering woman, her large eyes full of pride.

She never pretended to be innocent in front of players, but she very much hoped to make a good impression on Hill.

Unfortunately, Hill could only feel as though he was a non-player character in a dating simulation game, constantly showered with gifts and date requests.

Hill sighed deeply, watching as the tree wall quickly returned to its original form. The beech transferred Hill’s location downward.

He ended up at the main root of the beech.

Seeing the glowing tree heart handed to him, Hill understood the beech’s intentions: it did not want to become a treant here. If Hill was to leave later, taking this tree heart with him would allow him to plant it back in his territory.

Though it would fall into a deep sleep, possibly needing centuries to recover, the beech still wished to live in Hill’s place.

Hill gently tapped the tree heart, ”Don’t worry, I will take you with me before I go.”

Once it absorbed the Elemental Power here and became a treant, the beech could no longer leave this land. Not to mention the absence of sunlight hereafter; Hill would not leave it alone in this place overrun by demons.

Treants do not interact with creatures other than Nature’s Protectors.

Hill silently sensed that the most important root had been securely hidden by the beech hundreds of meters underground.

Even deeper down, the place had been petrified by the Earth Element Lord, so the beech had not wasted more energy.

Hill touched his pendant, connecting briefly with the Wood Elemental Spirit inside. The little light orbs were eager to come out and help.

A few Wood Elemental Spirits came out and communicated with the beech’s wood heart.

The beech, having reluctantly given up its tree body and thinking it might have to sleep for a long time, was overjoyed.

Letting them communicate, Hill, holding the pendant, asked Srei whether he had contacted List.

”The communication has been intermittent,” Srei said, ”List has already arranged the rewards for those members of the Black and White Path family who went to see the movie.

Mr. Adrian is already at the Lord’s Mansion.

He is very worried about you.

Mr. Fran seems to have gone to see His Majesty the King.

Several members of the Undead Tribe in the territory also come over daily, telling Mr. Adrian that half a million reinforcements are on their way.

The Undead Tribe seems to have accepted the task of investigating hidden dangers, currently scouting throughout Saral.

The Justice Temple is in the process of changing its name, initially thought to be expelled from Saral, but it seems to have been allowed to stay.

It seems decided to leave Saral to escape any potential wrath from His Majesty the King, as they have been allies with Rose for many years.

No other temples have moved, but all have issued statements condemning Rose.

Rose has returned to the Divine Kingdom and has been quiet. However, the church has replaced its Pope with Dionysio.

The Rose Temples in Haifa and Cortez have been ordered to be expelled, and they were not given time to pack their luggage.

Also, Mr. Adrian is inquiring about how the Undead Tribe plans to reach you; he wants to hitch a ride.”

Hill was silent: ”They plan to play high-altitude no-rope bungee jumping. I’ve already hidden in the roots of the beech; I do not want to watch hundreds of thousands of bodies plummet down here.”

Srei was silent for a few minutes: ”The next time I successfully make contact, should I just tell Mr. Adrian directly?”

”You think they wouldn’t know? The Undead Tribe will definitely be broadcasting it live!” Hill said helplessly, ”What a spectacular sight that will be! And they can watch it from a first-person viewpoint too!”

Hill cut off the connection, ”It has started.”

Even deep underground, several hundred meters below, Hill could hear the booming roars.

And the players’ screams, ”Ahhhh! Tell them to slow down the jump!”

”The lid is going to break! Stop, stop, stop! Ahhh!”

”Forget the wall now, strengthen the lid quickly!”

”If you don’t want to be crushed by them, hurry up and fix it!”

The idea was splendid, but considering the acceleration due to the gravity of hundreds of thousands of people, Hill shuddered at the thought.

”****, quickly seek refuge in the church!”

”Hide where? They’re not resurrecting anymore? You think this is a clipping game or what?”

”What is Snow Cloud Peak doing? Make them stop!”

Unable to contain his excitement, the Water Elemental Lord, who had been running around by himself, asked Hill through the link, puzzled, ”Are those people above enemies? Why attack them?”

Hill collapsed into his lounge chair, unable to control his laughter, ”No, they are just allies who miscalculated. Hahaha uh~”

He had always felt something was off, and now he knew! They were actually jumping down together!

Snow Cloud Peak shouted in despair, ”I **** told you to jump down! Not **** to jump together!

Are you playing with me? Huh?”

Hill quickly notified his Water and Earth Elements to hide first. After all, one turning into water and the other going underground, wouldn’t be affected much.

”Forget the wall for now! Fix the top first! Aren’t the Water Elements still around? Let them mend the wall!” Snow Cloud Peak had already screamed his throat hoarse, ”Better let the demons break in than be wiped out like this!”

Hill could feel the players’ desperation and chaos, and knew the danger if the demons really broke in, but he couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

As Hill lay on the lounge chair laughing, the beech suddenly reacted violently, and Hill sat up abruptly: if it were the players, the beech would only be alert, but such a fierce reaction meant that some demons must have mixed in when the players used the Ice Wall magic.

It could only be high-level demons; lower ones wouldn’t react so quickly.

Probably not yet legendary demons.

Demons had attacked the main world countless times, probably never being as confused as this time.

Demons that had entered a few times before stealthily, even at the Grand Knight layer, could cause significant damage to the human world.

When it comes to exorcising demons, indeed, a single Exorcism spell is needed, but frustratingly, it must be cast by either a Bishop or an Archmage of the same rank or requires an Exorcism Array.

But the human world is too large, where are Bishops and Archmages readily found in small cities?

And those who can summon demons are at least able to comprehend the books of summoning, so it is often the act of the nobles of that city; even if there is an exorcism array, it might be unusable, and by the time the church or Mage Association finds out and arrives, the situation typically has already escalated to the total destruction of the entire town.

Thus, humans are very resentful and even afraid of demons, but this fear for demons is also delectable nourishment.

For demons, an invasion of the main world, which happens every few millennia, is like a carnival.

But at the beginning, only low-ranking demons could pass through the torn gaps.

As the rifts widen, high-ranking demons gradually make their way through.

Hill was initially not worried because he didn’t expect legendary demons to appear, even Mage Level ones were rare.

But now, Hill suspected whether a high-ranking demon was nearby, attracted by the rift torn open by the God of Nobility.

He just hoped it wasn’t a legendary demon.

Hopefully it’s just a Mage Level demon, so after sneaking in, it could only look for an opportunity to launch a surprise attack.

Demons, even when legendary, rarely are cunning; they mostly brute force it, and Hill could only pray it wasn’t so unlucky.

The chaos among the players seemed to give this demon an opportunity. The beech said it had already circled nearby a few times.

Plants observe differently than humans; to them, demons are very conspicuous, but despite continuous patrolling by the players, this demon had not been discovered yet.

Hill speculated, could it be invisible?
