Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 1070: Chapter 176: Genetic Puzzle 1

The Walters, who were fully prepared, were dumbfounded. They originally thought that when the enemy charged into the planet, the first thing they would do was to control the fortresses and engage in more brutal street battles.

However, the opponents behaved like impoverished interstellar mercenaries—even the poorest mercenaries presented themselves better than this—they were more like interstellar scavengers, determined to collect every piece of junk.

General Quel and the Little Woman were on the verge of madness.

General Quel, who was always known as the cold-faced bald woman, now had an extraordinarily vivid expression on her face.

As for the Little Woman, she directly started cursing.

”Those ungrateful wretches, the most shameless burrowing rats of the radiation zone, I ** their **, how do they do things like this? Even the worst hunter wouldn’t act like this when facing an enemy...”

”Alright, alright, it’s not like you don’t know this bunch’s character from day one. As special human-form experiment projects in the testing ground, they’ve always been unscrupulous.”

Gao Gong appeared on the No. 1 Fortress, calmly comforting the other party.

Having been with the players for so long, it’s impossible for the NPCs of his own alliance not to notice the unique aspects of this group. Gao Gong’s explanation was simple: these are products of the advanced civilization’s taboo research by the Mechanical Civilization on carbon-based species.

After all, isn’t it natural for advanced civilization technology to be difficult to comprehend?

The Little Woman cursed for a full half hour before stopping, turning to look at Gao Gong, asking suspiciously:

”Why does it feel like you’ve gotten taller?”

Although he could shrink the ’cell gaps’ to maintain his previous physique, the effects brought by the ’Leviathan Bloodline’ were unavoidable—even if Gao Gong’s body hadn’t changed, standing still, he looked like a towering giant mountain.

”Yes, I’ve swapped for a new Tier 3 Bloodline; this bloodline will eventually be passed on to the alliance,” Gao Gong honestly replied.

”Tier 3 Bloodline, huh, even the Brain-in-a-Vat is just Tier 2,” the Little Woman said with some envy.

”No need to envy, though the Brain-in-a-Vat’s limit is only planet-level, through the upgrades of ’Biological Computers’, it’s quite likely that the hardware can be broken through to Tier 3. I’ll help you with that.”

”Sounds like a deal then!” The Little Woman’s eyes lit up as she said.

Gao Gong turned to look at the hesitant Ye the Big Lolita, who besides having an SS-Level Superpower, was also a user of a biological computer.

”I’ll help you achieve a Tier 3 breakthrough too.”

Biological computers are a broad category, with many types: managerial, combat, research, superpower. In his opinion, the Little Woman is better suited to pair with ’Brain-in-a-Vat’ managerial type, while Ye the Big Lolita has a greater chance of pursuing the superpower type.

Ye the Big Lolita nodded heavily, somewhat embarrassedly:

”It’s troubling you again, I haven’t been able to help with anything.”

”We’re all family here; no need to be so reserved,” Gao Gong smilingly said, though thinking in his heart that it couldn’t always be him doing all the A-game; these workers also needed to roll up their sleeves.

”So, what now, do nothing?”

”Without this bunch of ’celestial calamity’, relying on ourselves alone, it’s quite hard to conquer this planet,” the Little Woman returned to the point.

Ever since witnessing these players on the battlefield, even the high-ups of the alliance couldn’t help but call them ’celestial calamity’.

Players advancing from Tier 1 to Tier 2 is absolutely a qualitative transformation.

”Don’t we still have around 50,000 constructs? As planned, let’s start with some critical energy node sabotage.”

Gao Gong wasn’t worried about the players losing control, given that the nearest black market was thousands of light-years away, so even if the players were scavenging like crazy, in the end, they would still need to hand over the ’junk’ to the alliance.

As for this planetary war, if it’s slower, so be it. If Gao Gong’s prediction is correct, the Walter alliance is about to experience an internal conflict; being slow might be beneficial.

Moreover, Gao Gong didn’t expect that apart from issuing tasks to players, the alliance template offered another win-win scenario.

[In the alliance war, Walter high-ranking member No. 10 was killed by alliance players, targeted extraction for a first-kill boss reward]

[In the alliance war, Walter high-ranking member No. 13 was killed by alliance players, targeted extraction for a boss reward]

[In the alliance war, Walter high-ranking member No. 18 was killed, random extraction for a boss reward]

...

Aside from the 10 Walters abandoned by No. 3 and consequently buried by artillery fire, more were beaten to death by player mobbing.

And those bosses killed by players, thanks to the alliance, allowed him to also obtain rewards.

Moreover, it’s targeted rather than random, doesn’t this imply that he gets to pick the biggest benefit first?

So this is the advantage of being an alliance leader.

Gao Gong chose to extract——

[Players Brain Watering, Divine Wood, Silver Zen...killed No. 10, rewarded with experience 50 billion, specialization points*200, Tier 3 Equipment*4, Tier 2 Equipment*25, Walter Clan Blueprints*3, random blueprints*3, genetic puzzle fragment*1, 3rd Stellar Vortex Reputation +1000]

[Due to host being ’Alliance Leader’, can target extract one reward, this reward will not reappear after extraction]

’Wow, worthy is the star war boss first-kill reward, there sure are a lot, but distributed over a hundred players, it’s still alright.’

After all, most of Gao Gong’s boss kills over the years were solo, never needing to share.

’I remember these players rolling gear using dice, completely relying on luck, right.’

Gao Gong tutted and carefully selected.

Starting with those four Tier 3 Equipments, although their attributes weren’t bad, three of them were bound to ’Green-skinned Bloodline’, with the remaining one having no bloodline requirement but being the worst in attributes.

With his Space Giant Beast Bloodline, Gao Gong naturally wouldn’t change sides, but once they completely conquer this planet, he decides to offer players with alliance points over ten thousand a free chance to change bloodlines.

After all, the Walter Clan’s bloodline covers Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 fully, which is pretty decent among interstellar influences.

’No need for gear, blueprints are just weapon blueprints, things I can gamble myself, not really necessary, seems like it’s only this left.’

[You removed ’genetic puzzle fragment*1’, this reward will not appear in boss first-kill rewards anymore.]

’Previously I felt like Huang Shiren, players were free labor, now I realize I’m not only the neighbor Old Huang, but also Old Wang next door too—your wives, no, boss rewards, let me try them out first.’

Gao Gong thought gleefully.

[Your personality -300]

Seems like the system agrees too.

Genetic puzzle items are like ’mechanical puzzles’, requiring 5 pieces to complete an assembly.

The ’equipment’ assembled this way mostly ranges between superb and outstanding, without a chance of being junk.

Yet these pieces are hard to collect.

Firstly, only bosses drop them, and only one can drop at a time, plus not every boss can drop them.

So you need to beat at least 5 bosses to gather enough for one puzzle. Gao Gong always considered it a game Easter egg-like item.

However, now he found a shortcut to gather ’puzzles’.

Nearly 20 bosses gave Gao Gong enough to assemble two sets of genetic puzzles.
