Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 1063: Chapter 169: Space War 4

For the 4th Celestial Calamity, anything with a visible blood bar doesn’t count as a boss, it should be called a ”first-kill reward dispenser.”

As the blood bar kept dropping, No.10 also realized the danger and tried to run, but for Players who are veterans at pulling aggro, it was already a bit late.

In an instant, No.10’s vision blurred. The Starship wreckage, enemies, artillery fire all vanished, replaced by an upside-down world.

In this world, people came and went; skyscrapers, Hospitals, schools, malls, government offices—although there weren’t many people and the tech level wasn’t that high, you could vaguely tell this was the embryonic form of a Civilization, not just some simple interstellar Influence.

No.10’s sudden appearance, as expected, caused a huge uproar here. A Green-skinned Giant with a body as tall as a skyscraper descended from the sky wrapped in billowing flames and energy radiation; those cyan-green eyes were filled with surging killing intent, as if they wanted to annihilate everything.

Very soon, planes, tanks, missile systems all powered up, all sorts of Level 1 Civilization weapons firing at him like they were free.

Even Tier 2 weapons might not be able to hurt him, let alone Tier 1 Weapons. He quickly turned this planet into hell.

But he soon realized something was off. Wasn’t he supposed to be fighting on the Interstellar Fortress? How did he suddenly show up here?

Using the powerful Perception of a Tier 3 Carbon-Based, he quickly detected abnormal signals here, and tried to capture them to force his way out.

Meanwhile, in the next layer of Data Space, two bald guys in white coats were whispering to each other.

”Should we keep controlling him a bit longer?”

”Stop. If we get found out we’re screwed. Can’t you see we’re already losing control?”

”How about we deploy a Big Data Conceptual Body and slap a strong debuff on it?”

”Don’t kid me. You think those Big Models are something we can just wake up? Besides, without enough data to train the models, whether they’re even usable is another question.”

”Sigh, if only there were more Players running Virtual-flow builds.”

”Amitabha. Once the Cyber Space is finished, Players will come flooding in on their own. Right now we’ve got no choice; the only ones who’ve ’Ascended’ are just the two of us.”

Generally speaking, Virtual-flow Players can perform ”Consciousness Upload” after reaching level 60, fully transforming into Artificial Intelligence, laying the groundwork for later Tier 3 promotion into Virtual Life.

But to complete Consciousness Upload, you need a host system with extremely strong Computational Power, like a Planet Host, to truly pull it off.

With current conditions, that’s hard to achieve.

And if a faction can’t satisfy its Players, most Players will just grab their buckets and run.

So Gao Gong took the ”Electronic Ascension” on Mechanical Split Star from back then and turned it into a quest, handed it to the two of them. They spent a huge amount of effort crafting the entire quest chain, completed Electronic Ascension, became Electronic Life, and used that to take up the role of Gatekeepers of the Data Maze, holding part of the permissions to the 13-Layered Space.

Seeing they couldn’t keep control, these two level-60 Players gave up on hard control altogether. The next moment, the data receded, and reality manifested.

Only then did No.10 realize his body had already been beaten half to death, while a bunch of output-build Players were going all out blasting him.

Very soon, with a ”ding-dong,” all Players received a notification—

[Boss first-kill: Walter Faction Advanced cadre No.10 has been slain. Player Brain Watering, Divine Wood, Silver Zen... rewards...]

A long list of juicy rewards popped out of every Player’s notification window.

The Players weren’t happy at all; instead, they simultaneously united in outrage.

”Human-headed Dog!”

”Dog-headed man!”

”Luck God go die!”

Especially the Players on the other split battlefields were extra depressed.

”Damn, I was about to finish mine too, just had 1/10 bar of blood left.”

”Shit, the first-kill reward’s gone.”

”Did you guys turn on cheats over there? I’m reporting you!”

”What Tier 3 Equipment dropped from the reward? Lemme see?”

...

On another battlefield, near the launcher platform, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella was sulkily sheathing his Intelligent Blade while the blade’s AI cackled weirdly.

”Yet another Prey butchered. I, who have drunk deep of fresh blood, have been Enhanced again.”

”Can you fix this crappy Sword Spirit AI? I swear it’s your damned blade messing with my luck, tanking my fortune.”

Far from the battlefield, Baozi complained gloomily. Around him stood the Construct Warriors he had exchanged from the faction with his Money Power—no less than one hundred level-60 Constructs, all the kind that came with ”Five Plugins” by default.

”What’s that got to do with Brother Umbrella? It was obviously Brain Watering and Silver Zen, those two Cyber Monks, who became Electronic Life and hard-controlled the enemy boss for several minutes; that’s how they stole the first-kill.”

In Baozi’s headset, pp Bro’s voice came back in rebuttal.

”Then why don’t you go for Electronic Ascension? You’re already maxed at level 60 anyway.”

Baozi redirected his artillery at him.

”I still want to walk the orthodox Consciousness Upload route. After the version update, when our whole faction conquers this planet, we’re definitely building a Planet Computer.”

pp Bro said confidently.

The other Players exchanged glances, shrugged, seemingly not caring much.

Baozi sighed, ”Ever since Sister Ji left, even trash-talking has gotten boring.”

Very soon, two more notifications chimed.

[Walter Faction Advanced cadre No.13 has been slain. Players Baozi, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella, pp Bro...]

[Walter Faction Advanced cadre No.15 has been slain. Player Plane...]

After hearing this, Baozi sighed again.

”If I’d known Plane would be this OP, I’d have invested in him back when he was still a newbie. Now the worst I’d have gotten is the Angel round.”

”Heh heh, I know a secret about Plane. Baozi, 1000 Credit Points and I’ll tell you,” pp Bro chuckled.

”What secret?”

”The secret of how Plane dies without losing levels.”

”Huh?”

...

The battlefields led by the Players were all the ”normal” ones, while the direction Monster No.3 was really charging toward was the reactor core of the entire Interstellar Fortress. Only by blowing that up could they completely destroy this Interstellar Fortress.

Earlier, a quarter of this fortress’s area had sunk and collapsed, tens of thousands of weapon platforms, missile systems, and energy cores had exploded. The source was the clash between No.3 and the Cybertron Corps.

Fortunately, the main commanders of the Cybertron Corps, such as General Quel and others, weren’t on this War platform.

Unfortunately, the ones in charge of Platform No.2 were the Old Hunters; aside from them, there were Gates, Vervi, some Orgrimmar people, and 30,000 from the Construct Corps.

At this moment, the main force crossing blows with No.3 consisted of the 30,000-strong Construct Corps, and the 3000 Emperor’s Imperial Guard.

As the core strength of the Level 2 Civilization—Transformer Civilization, the Emperor’s Imperial Guard are described like this:

The limit of deep Modification is not turning yourself into Pure Mechanical Life, but becoming a super Modified Warrior equipped with Wetware. Under the influence of the same type of Wetware, the super Modified Warriors will grasp the Power of ”collective Modification.” They will become the Emperor’s most loyal guards, the most powerful engines of expansion.

As for the Construct Corps, they’re described another way:

Pure killing machines built with more than 50% Constructs, specialized against Carbon-Based Life, able to forcibly disrupt Life Magnet Fields, tear apart Carbon-Based structures, and kill Carbon-Based Creatures starting from their very source.
