Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 1054: Chapter 160: Long-horned Whale Defense Line 3

Starships against starships, amidst cold cannon fire mixed with fierce rain of light, the Walter clan fleet deployed the Star Thief’s specialty, the Frog Jumping Strategy, forcefully landing on the Interstellar Fortress through short curvature space jumps. However, one after another, heavy hatch doors slowly opened, and tens of millions of unmanned combat drones surged out, above the swarm of drones were even larger swarms of space torpedoes.

The ion beam jets from the engines at the rear kept flickering, mechanical platforms fired relentlessly, blasting star shuttles into vacuum fireworks, the thick main cannons of the starships struck the surface of the interstellar fortress, plowing out ridges tens of meters wide.

”Charge forth, for the Legion!!”

At the outermost perimeter of the Legion fortress, a ’sub-castle’ slowly opened, 5000 Pioneer Mechas stared coldly at the charging Walter troops, though they were only mechas, they were the pinnacle of Tier 2 Mechas, equipped with large X-Type Reactors, AT Force Fields, and Consciousness Package Controllers, fully armed to the teeth.

It can be said that these 5000 mechas are one of the biggest trump cards of the Gao Gong Camp.

As the tractor beams flickered, these mechas collided directly with the Walter spaceships executing the ’Curvature Frog Jumping Strategy’, and just from this impact, the number of Pioneer Mechas was reduced by a third.

Even more miraculous, the number of exploded enemy ships was roughly the same as the loss of mechas.

No matter how strong the Walter clan is, they are just a Star Thief Group; expecting them to produce Level 3 Starships is very unrealistic, being able to mass-produce spaceships is already impressive.

If one had to describe the difference between starships and spaceships, it’d be akin to the difference between an aircraft carrier and an armed fishing boat.

Previously, in response to the sudden attack from the ’Calamity Corps’, the Walter clan, upon realizing what had happened, immediately dispatched a massive fleet of 100,000 ships, charging out from within the planet, heading straight towards three Interstellar Fortresses, intending to retaliate fiercely.

They wanted to let outsiders know, with the most ferocious and brutal counterattack, that the Walter clan was at its peak, without the slightest weakness.

Yet, facing the super warfare fortress manufactured by the ’Mechanical Planet Factory’, they were bumped into a big knot, their front teeth bouncing out.

Almost every minute, there would be ships exploding, either being strafed by energy cannons, slashed by mechas, or besieged by hundreds and thousands of players, being bitten to death like ants.

It was as if a giant wave was crashing against a rocky shore; the rocky shore did not shatter, so the wave could only recede.

”Where exactly are these people from!!”

Aboard one of the clan’s starships, Walter No. 8 stared wide-eyed, almost unable to believe, at the exploding ships.

He knew that this time it was going to be tough.

As the clan commander, he had also studied at the Level 3 Civilization military academy, learning disciplines such as warship command, weapon utilization, and logistics. Regarding the performance of different starships, he could identify a lot at a glance.

The enemy’s interstellar fortresses and large starships were definitely not the handicapped versions sold on the black-market, nor were they starships with core functionalities stripped; they were genuine civilization fleet starships.

Even their clan didn’t have many of this type of starship.

So with just one clash, he realized that engaging these starships with spaceships was a tactical mistake.

When the holographic projection lit up, the graceful figure of Walter No. 2 appeared, and immediately upon appearing, she scolded:

”Why such heavy losses, I checked the statistics, and within less than one Planet Day, you’ve destroyed twenty thousand ships. How am I supposed to explain this to other family members?”

Walter No. 8 remained silent.

He didn’t believe the opposing commander was an outstanding militarist; aside from decent firepower usage, many aspects seemed immature.

Yet, despite that, his losses were still significant, hard power collision has nothing to do with wisdom.

Even though he had tactically set traps and eliminated three large enemy starships, he still couldn’t withstand his own heavier losses.

Seeing Walter No. 8 staying silent, Walter No. 2’s tone softened.

”How much longer until you can eliminate the opponent?”

Walter No. 8 pondered for a while before responding:

”If purely engaging in attrition, as long as the family fleet’s losses remain under 50%, I am confident in eliminating all enemy starships except for those three Interstellar Fortresses.”

”Why are the losses so severe, who exactly are the enemies?” Walter No. 2 took a deep breath.

Walter No. 8 shook his head:

”I can’t discern the enemy’s military background, and the enemy’s starships have undergone external disguise, but considering them as a Level 3 Civilization Fleet is not a mistake.”

”Civilization influence involved!?” Walter No. 2’s expression turned serious.

If that’s the case, things just got more complicated.

Could it be that the things their people have been doing got discovered?

”If it’s not the vanguard fleet of a Level 3 Civilization, it’s hard to imagine an interstellar influence capable of having so many Level 3 Starships. Even those affiliated with the civilization, like an Interstellar Governor, couldn’t acquire this level of support.”

”Looks like I need to have a good talk with No. 3.”

The holographic projection of Walter No. 2 disappeared.

The Walter clan follows the gene cloning path; from top to bottom, all are of Walter bloodline.

And because they are cloned entities, they lack the ethical relationships of parent and child, more of the family ranking depends on their closeness to Old Walter.

For example, Walter No. 2, although not highly talented, became Old Walter’s paramour, hence was elevated to No. 2.

Regarding Walter No. 3, due to being cloned purely from Old Walter’s blood and bones, his strength ranked first among all Walter clones, and was even adopted as an adopted son, became No. 2, but later was demoted to No. 3 after failing to challenge Old Walter.

No. 2 and No. 3 represent two factions among the Walter clones, after Old Walter’s incident, they became arch-rivals, each single-mindedly aiming to seize the legacy left by Old Walter.

The earlier ’planet face’ was also a phenomenon caused by activating the legacy.

After the holographic projection disappeared, Walter No. 8’s gaze fell on the fierce battlefield, especially those three sky-blocking Interstellar Fortresses.

He knew the opposing commander must be among them.

...

”What the hell, are they really that capable of fighting?”

Turtle Jes’ ’adrenaline worm’ on its lips fell off.

Regarding the ’Calamity Corps’ mentioned by Gao Gong, it held a skeptical stance, after all, facts proved that among the numerous interstellar influences coveting this resource planet, only that group of Leviathans managed to penetrate inside.

Even fewer managed to compel the Walter clan to give their all.

Considering the Walter clan itself is already a top ’Star Thief Group’ among several neighboring Stellar Vortexes, stronger forces generally don’t stoop to become star thieves.

Yet looking at the overwhelming crossfire near the Long-horned Whale Alpha, although sound cannot travel in vacuum, the intense scene still shocked it.

And it wasn’t just Jes who was stunned.

Other intelligence officers also looked wide-eyed, as if they’d seen a ghost.

To put it this way, the space battlefield debris they were hiding in now was caused by the Leviathan battle before.

And in just several Planet Days, the battlefield debris created by the ’Calamity Group’ was almost similar to their location.

Even more baffling is that the opposing Tier 2 powerhouses seem to appear as if money is no object.
