Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 1052: Chapter 158: Long-horned Whale Defensive Line 1

Under the gaze of all the intelligence officers, the interstellar fleet composed of 10 interstellar fortresses, 100 large starships, and 1000 interstellar battleships surged forward, charging almost like a direct attack from point to point, as the shortest path between two points.

On an interstellar battleship, at least 1000 points of light lit up.

On a large starship, there were ten thousand points of light.

As for an interstellar fortress, there were one hundred thousand, two hundred thousand, three hundred thousand...

Each point of light represented an Arc Energy Cannon, a Space Torpedo, or a Dark Energy Tracking Cannon.

Before the ’points of light’ could be fired, molecular lasers and gaseous lasers rained down like a meteor shower.

Every type of laser, when falling into the energy atmosphere, could ’ignite’ a patch of atmosphere.

Almost instantly, this star, originally appearing like a white gem, was engulfed by nearly saturating energy strikes, and each layer of the energy atmosphere was blasted out with holes of various sizes, through which the true visage of the star could faintly be seen.

It was a highly crystallized star.

The energy level of just its surface already equated to the star core position of a normal planet.

And intelligence officers from various factions were dumbfounded.

”This has started already?”

”This is too fast.”

”Even the previous Leviathan Tribe first built dozens of subspace fortresses, clearing the energy sources within several light-years radius before attempting a planetary invasion.”

”I heard it’s just a matter of not having enough time, otherwise those Sky Giant Beasts would have tried to stop the rotation of the Long-horned Whale Alpha constellation, causing a massive energy tide backlash.”

Once energy tide backlash occurs, over ninety percent of the energy weapons on the star would become unusable.

However, this tactic didn’t succeed.

Generally speaking, interstellar wars have the most exciting planetary battles; after all, one can’t escape, and the other must be destroyed. In this state, various achievements from the technology trees are taken out, creating a spectacular exchange.

Moreover, according to statistics from the Civilization Council, 23.4% of planetary battles ended with the planet’s explosion.

This is enough to illustrate the technological content of both sides.

According to a classic interstellar sci-fi novelist, ’If a sci-fi author only writes interstellar wars with stronger ships and bigger cannons, their work is not far from failure.’

So Gao Gong chose a more radical tactic.

In ancient times, there was a professional term for this tactic—

’Ants attacking the castle’

At the moment when the energy cannon fire covered the entire star, those near ninety thousand lights on the interstellar fortress lit up.

These lights turned out not to be from energy weapons, but from large-scale Traction Beams.

In the next moment, nearly a million players were airdropped into various holes in the star’s atmosphere; it was like sprinkling a handful of ants into a boiling pot.

”Brothers, follow up, I’m going in!”

”Where the hell are you?”

”Killed.”

”Damn!!”

The players piloted mechas, drove star shuttles, activated superpowers, or even directly entered Carbon Fusion Mode, relying on their strong bodies to airdrop toward the star surface.

Among these people, thirty percent got worn down and died by the energy atmosphere, thirty percent got killed by their own saturating energy cannon fire, and forty percent broke through the atmosphere, only to almost perish in a flash of light.

”The Walter Clan has retaliated.”

”Finally retaliated.”

”These green-skinned ones are really slow to react.”

”Actually, they’re fast enough, mainly because the ’Calamity Corps’ play without honor. For instance, if someone rushes at you at eighty miles per hour, immediately committing seppuku, you’d be dumbfounded too.”

”That makes sense.”

Countless ’little black dots’ spewed forth from the surface, evenly distributed across each atmospheric layer. The one thousand-kilometer-thick energy atmosphere began to slowly contract under the effect of these ’Celestial Weapons’; the lowest convection layer seemed to turn into a layer of energy plastic, directly locking the energy molecules within the atmosphere, visibly transforming the energy atmosphere from gaseous to liquid.

Many of the gaseous energy in the stratosphere had already turned into an ’Energy Rain Curtain’, and any energy weapon passing through the ’Energy Rain Curtain’ had its damage directly reduced by half.

”Celestial Weapon,” Turtle Jes squinted, no longer finding the ’Adrenaline Worm’ on his lip appetizing.

”To be precise, it’s a Level 2 Celestial Weapon - Strange Stable Anchor,” DK51 added.

The impact of a Level 2 Celestial Weapon in a ’planet defense battle’ isn’t actually significant.

The role of the ’Strange Stable Anchor’ is to extract the molecular structure from the atmosphere, gaseous planets, and stray nebulae, forming a defensive net covering the star.

Although defense is seamless, the drawback of this Celestial Weapon lies in its low Defense Value; a single Intermediate Energy Cannon can clear the Defense Value of one area, but its charging time is at least ten seconds.

The problem, however, is that special external environments provide terrifying support to Celestial Weapons.

Long-horned Whale Alpha’s nine-layer energy atmosphere, under the effect of the ’Stable Anchor’, its defense directly broke the sky’s limit. Ordinary energy cannons couldn’t penetrate the defense; only the main ship cannon could create a hole with a single shot, yet its recovery speed was dreadfully fast, completely restoring in just one second.

The Level 2 Celestial Weapon, under the support of the nine-layer atmosphere, achieved Level 3 power.

This means that only a Level 3 Civilization’s fleet might be able to break the star’s defense.

When the Leviathan Giant attacked the star, it was almost helpless against such tactics, finally relying on the ’Sky Giant Beast’s’ formidable body to withstand the enemy’s attack, forcefully ramming into the atmosphere, only to be caught off guard and taken down by a Planet Cannon.

In the command room of ’Legion Type One’, bald female General Quel was sternly observing the holographic projection, reduced by millions of times.

Before the Artificial Intelligence could calculate weaknesses, she directly took a command baton, marking several points.

”Abandon saturation strikes on the planetary layer, concentrate firepower on these attack points.”

The other senior officials opened their mouths but ultimately said nothing.

Professional matters must be handled by professionals.

The main reason Gao Gong chose this bald woman as the commander for this battle is her ’Boss Template’, which is very suitable for such a siege battle.

Flame General (Alliance Exclusive):

General’s Might: Able to enhance team morale through inspiration and motivation tactics, morale +30%, alliance loyalty +10%

Blood of War: General Quel possesses excellent command skills; as long as she is in the commander position, battle victory rate +20%

Legendary Gunner: General Quel excels at artillery battles; under her command, artillery calibration +10%

A commander-type boss template has value far exceeding a force template, only second to a research template.

Under General Quel’s command, the fleet quickly abandoned full-range bombardment and concentrated firepower on several points.

The attack by energy cannon fire shattered many ’Stable Anchors’, with several focused atmospheric layers directly bombarded out with holes of 100 km diameter.

Traction beams fired again, and millions of players were airdropped into the holes.

Meanwhile, various types of Star Thief Spaceships also emerged from within the star, with each ship carrying numerous green-skinned Walter.

Finally, Gao Gong received the Alliance Task.
