Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 369: Chapter 137: All Villains

Crime City, a friendly, peaceful city.

Unlike Nightless City, which uses a large number of intelligent machines for infrastructure, this city hasn’t been repaired for nearly 20 years. The rusted railways and broken sewer streets witness its history, and the dilapidated buildings are filled with traces of the homeless. Early in the morning, countless symphonies start playing.

The gunfire on the streets symbolizes the vitality of this city, making the residents full of energy every day.

Similarly, the drug trade, personality trade, and organ trade showcase the city’s unique commercial atmosphere.

Kidnapping Legislators, assassinating top officials, and military coups display the political enlightenment in this city.

The recent form of democracy is gun democracy, where the amount of weapons you possess determines your votes as a friendly citizen.

This city’s ever-changing underground forces and diverse combat methods also provide citizens with a colorful recreational life.

Illegal Bionic Men, Virus Robots, Transformer with cyber psychosis, wanted AI criminals, Biological Transformation experiments, bankrupt celebrities, religious fanatics, chaotic elements, and the Rebel Army.

Everyone lives together in harmony.

In short, this city can be used as a specimen of the Mechanical Era for outsiders to learn from.

...

As an enforcer for a debt-collecting group, Hei Bing No. 2 never imagined that he’d be robbed on his first day in the city.

When dozens of Fine-level guns were aimed at his head, he seriously checked the thickness of his Blood Volume and decisively chose to surrender.

Thus, he was left with nothing but a pair of underwear.

Then, he found his superior, a mid-level member of the debt-collecting group, hoping to receive a task... or at least get a coat.

However, this superior was being chased.

He was hacked and downloaded illegal programs. Many bills were stolen, causing significant losses to the group, so he was sent here.

If anything is abundant here, it’s deadbeat debtors, often paying back debts with force.

Hei Bing No. 2 finally understood why people looked at him with strange eyes when he was sent here.

Then, he was made a scapegoat by his superior and ended up killed unexpectedly.

Three days later, he resurrected again and successfully killed his former superior through an ambush.

The group representative told him that because of his excellent performance, the higher-ups decided to let him take the superior’s position.

So, he successfully rose up, became a mid-level member of the Wuu Group, and was given a ’Nightmare-level’ task to retrieve the group’s debts.

It’s worth mentioning that in Crime City, ninety percent of the debts are dead debts, either the debtor died or the collector died.

Hence, he realized that the reason he could rise was not due to his qualifications, but his personality.

A negative personality.

Then, he sought advice on how to complete this Nightmare-level task from Baozi, the task bigshot.

The bigshot suggested a tactic called walking the people’s, no, walking the player’s community route. Who would refuse a share in an Advanced task?

Hei Bing No. 2 thought it made sense, so he did just that.

Then he went offline, no wait, into the game, to meet a few players who were supposedly holding clues.

And then he got killed again.

The bigshot comforted him, saying this was just a coincidence, after all, there are stupid players in this game too.

Thus, when he died at a meeting for the fourth time, Baozi decisively pretended to be dead and stopped replying, much like a writer who’s supposed to update more but pretends to be dead lying there.

Hey, aren’t fellow townsfolk supposed to greet each other with teary eyes?

Have you seen a meeting where you get swept by machine guns?

This was Hei Bing No. 2’s experience in the first half month.

Then he realized!

None of the players in Crime City are normal.

Players born in Crime City undergo a ’prefrontal lobe operation’ as soon as they enter, becoming reserve members, their state akin to PP Boss during brainwashing.

Then, as part of the 4th Celestial Calamity, they level up, commit crimes, level up again, and commit more crimes, forming a beautiful cycle.

Of course, during this process, it’s not without players waking up after being killed.

These ’awakening’ players are soon taught a lesson.

’You woke up?’

’Yeah, you woke up too? Come closely, I’ll tell you a secret.’

’What secret?’

Gunfire erupts.

’Sorry, who’s the good guy, we bully them!’

Everyone’s a player, who doesn’t know you’ll resurrect?

Are you a good guy? We hit good guys!

So, the good guys turned bad.

There are no good guys here, only full-on villains!

”Times are really tough, even legitimate business isn’t easy,” the gun shop Boss lamented, casually handing over the poison-quenched bullets.

Hei Bing No. 2 said nothing, relying on the skill ’Advanced Pistol Mastery’, he expertly loaded the dismantled bullets and fired three shots at the Boss.

The Boss stared at his smoking chest, looking at the other party in disbelief.

”Damn! You’d even rob your loyal customers!” Hei Bing No. 2 cursed aloud, ”Using fake poison quenching bullets is one thing, but giving me blanks, are you trying to kill me?”

”Real ones are expensive, you have no idea how scarce bullets are now,” the Boss grumbled, skillfully removing his outer garment to reveal a bulletproof vest and a half-metallic body.

”And besides, is selling weapons legitimate business? Selling fake weapons is legitimate business, believe me, look at those prostitutes in the red-light district, they’ve turned legit now too, getting stunned as soon as they lie down, damn, robbery is one thing, but your service can’t be half-assed.”
