Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 368: Chapter 136: Side Quest_2

Old Pawa raised his head, dusted off his coat, and spoke word by word.

”So many titles, no wonder you can have so many personalities,” Gao Gong cracked a joke.

”Arasaka Group and Military Technology, aren’t they deadly enemies?” Paradise Bird was evidently skeptical.

Anyone who follows the news knows these two planetary groups have been fighting deadly battles all over, with countless small corporate wars, several of Old Arasaka’s sons, and one-third of Military Technology’s management dying in this war.

Old Pawa chuckled lightly, twisted his wrist, and in the next moment, two unique codes popped out from his wrist, each forming two patterns, one was a mechanical tower, the other an ancient Mauser gun.

These are two of the few superstructures on the Mechanical Split Star, the ’Arasaka Tower’ and the ’Gun of Destruction’.

The former is the largest personality storage center worldwide, aside from the Mother City, boasting the highest level cloud technology.

The latter is the pinnacle technology of private arms dealers, a super weapon capable of continental annihilation, with its regular attack damage around 400,000 and it is also area damage.

Paradise Bird grabbed them through the air, and the two patterns began to burn.

”Really corporate codes!”

”Shall I give you the headquarters phone numbers of these two companies, so you can verify?” Old Pawa seriously offered.

Paradise Bird snorted coldly, ceased speaking, only stared at the corporate logos reformed from illusions, contemplating.

Paradise Bird might be surprised by two rival companies jointly developing projects, but for Gao Gong, it’s nothing unusual.

In this regard, the Mother City has been pulling strings behind scenes, not just for rival companies, even for the Rebel Army and underground forces, there’s their shadow of support.

Perhaps this behavior is detrimental to the Mother City’s grasp of this planet, yet all of this is for the Advanced Civilization’s benefit.

”Your killings disrupted Arasaka Technology and Military Technology’s project progress, so now you have two choices: join Arasaka Technology and become the manager of the ’Carbon-Based Project,’ or join Military Technology and become my deputy.”

Gao Gong laughed bitterly:

”So you want me to become a senior executive in a global group as a way of revenge for killing your people?”

”There’s no contradiction, your actions violated the interests of the senior executives, while your joining would help them gain wider interests.”

Paradise Bird mocked: ”Don’t forget, you were the ones who assassinated him first, how can this matter just pass?”

”This matter has nothing to do with our Powerful Gang, they didn’t act on my orders,” Old Pawa solemnly said: ”Recently, I’ve gained a new identity, Chief Steward of Illusionary Union’s Security Department, all Powerful Gang members have joined and became senior security officers, this task assignment came from the board, by a new member code-named M.”

”This new member’s background is deep and identity mysterious, what we know is that their arrival is accelerating the progress of various projects in Illusionary Union.”

”Very soon, the 2.0 version of the Moral Chip will launch.”

”What new functions does it have?” Gao Gong asked with interest.

”Moral supervision, moral enhancement.”

”First one, if an event occurs that doesn’t comply with moral regulations, the person implanted with the Moral Chip will record it, then report to the company’s security department for handling.”

”Second one, only those who pass the moral review can enter Nightless City’s authority positions, and get employed in its enterprises.”

”So it means, everyone in the city becomes your informants, indirectly you’ve grasped proposal and regulatory rights of the parliament.”

”That’s correct,” Old Pawa confessed: ”Moreover, creating the 2.0 version is precisely for this purpose.”

”Since there’s a 2.0 version, is there a 3.0 version?” Gao Gong asked.

”The 3.0 version is still in development.”

”And what might that be?”

”Human Completion Plan.”

Gao Gong exhaled deeply, ”Really cannot underestimate this person.”

Originally thought they were just a pawn of the Mechanic, but now it seems, perhaps it’s reversed, the Mechanic is their pawn.

If this Human Completion Plan comes to fruition, who dictates terms in Nightless City in the future, really is uncertain.

Examples of the Mechanical Main Brain being overturned are rare but not non-existent.

”What can you get then?” Gao Gong asked directly.

”A Mechanical Main Brain.”

Do they know about the Mechanic yet?

”What about the other two gangs?”

”The Steel Claw Gang seeks the status of ’World Military Contractor,’ requiring sufficient resources and firepower, in this regard, Illusionary Union can meet their demands, after conquering Sub-human Continent, those Armed Clan forces will be absorbed by the Steel Claw Gang.”

”As for Deep Web Weaver, they demand some brain-modifying things, in this regard, Illusionary Union can also satisfy them.”

Old Pawa chuckled: ”However, the agreements are negotiated separately, specific contents, I’m not sure.”

Gao Gong squinted his eyes, the best lie is ninety percent true and one percent false, he doesn’t believe the other knows nothing, but clearly, they don’t intend to tell him—unless he joins their ranks.

From the player’s standpoint, this is an overwhelmingly beneficial choice, whether it’s with the hidden gang Powerful Gang, or super powers Arasaka and Military Technology.

But to Gao Gong, the founder of this coalition, it’s rather mediocre, even conversely, it’s overwhelmingly detrimental without benefit.

Gao Gong snapped his fingers, suddenly asked: ”Knowing Paradise Bird’s existence, would you still invite me to join?”

Old Pawa chuckled:

”Mr. G, don’t joke around, in this world, what is more important than accelerating project progress? I am deeply interested in you and the technology you possess!”

Gao Gong paused in silence, suddenly spoke:

”My current goal is to protect the old Mechanic, while securing the technology controlled by Illusionary Union, do you understand?”

”I see,” Old Pawa gave Gao Gong a deep look, ”then I shall take leave.”

Soon, Old Pawa’s figure disappeared behind the door.

”Why did you tell him that?” Paradise Bird was puzzled, to her knowledge, this seems to be Gao Gong’s true objective.

”Drawing a red line promptly to opponents who are neither enemies nor friends is a form of respect.”

Paused for a moment, Gao Gong smirked: ”Besides, hasn’t the other party obtained what they wanted as well.”

...

In reality, Old Pawa walked on the street, passersby could not help but glance, for a reason no other, thick smoke rolled off from him, as if he just escaped a fire scene.

Yet this eccentric old man shifted from walking to running, from jogging to sprinting, expression transitioning from serious to bizarre, finally jumping with each step, face twisted.

”Hahaha!”

”Caught it! Copied it! Completed it!”

Virtual Personality Mr. G!

...

Baozi stepped out from Hanging Street, thought for a moment, opened his friends list, found PP Boss, sent him a message.

’Did you receive a task?’

’Got one.’

’Same one?’ Baozi copied and pasted, then sent it up.

’Almost.’ PP Boss nodded, sent a similar task.

”So it seems the mission chain also has side quests to do.”

Baozi rubbed his chin, said: ”I need to think thoroughly about how to proceed.”

At this time, in the room, the Flame Code started to gather, ultimately forming Paradise Bird’s figure, descending down.

”Little A.”

”Little A is here.”

”Your master has left, we should start working too.”

”Alright, Paradise Bird Sister.”
