Chapter 68: Chapter 36: Your Spear Ability Is Really Good

In a large abandoned warehouse, a group of ghouls is battling CCG.

”Break through! Quick!”

”No way, boss, the way back is blocked.”

”These ghoul investigators, are they all insane?”

”Da, da. Da~!”

The sound of dense gunfire echoed. Su Xiao stood behind a tall concrete pillar, which was riddled with bullet holes, sending up clouds of dust.

He was fighting against a ghoul force of over a hundred. This group was very tenacious, and their leader was an S-Level ghoul.

Surprisingly, this group of ghouls possessed a large number of firearms.

Judging by the firepower, the opponent had at least a hundred long and short firearms.

This was the third ghoul group he cleared after the unfinished building battle, and it was the last ghoul gathering place he could find.

”First-class Bai Ye, their firepower is too fierce; we can’t breach it.”

Maniwa Haruo stood beside Su Xiao.

Bullets kicked up clouds of dust around the concrete pillar, and occasionally the sound of grenade explosions could be heard.

As Su Xiao was about to peek out, a tingling sensation hit him.

He stomped on the ground, pulling Maniwa Haruo with him, and leaped behind a nearby concrete pillar.

This was a large warehouse, with at least a hundred one-meter-wide concrete pillars placed throughout.

”Boom!”

Su Xiao had just jumped away when he felt a wave of heat from behind; the blast’s impact forced him to stagger a few steps.

Maniwa Haruo sat slumped behind the concrete pillar, looking at the explosion site in disbelief.

”A rocket launcher??”

It wasn’t just Maniwa Haruo; even Su Xiao didn’t expect that these ghouls would have a rocket launcher.

Su Xiao raised his automatic assault rifle, and without aiming, swept it wildly at the ghouls. Whether he hit anyone was anyone’s guess.

”Tutu, tututu~.”

After his wild spray, screams came from the ghouls’ side, and Su Xiao was notified that his CCG Contribution Value increased.

This was purely by chance; Su Xiao swore he hadn’t aimed at all.

”Good shooting, First-class Bai Ye.”

Maniwa Haruo might not have seen Su Xiao’s casual shooting stance; he only saw the fallen ghouls.

”Ah~ It’s decent.”

Su Xiao couldn’t help feeling a little embarrassed.

Most of the time fighting ghouls involved close combat, but this time it turned into a gunfight.

”Boss Bai Ye, it’s not working out; the brothers can’t hold on much longer.”

A middle-aged investigator rushed to Su Xiao’s side, holding a bulletproof shield.

Some investigators, who followed Su Xiao to clear multiple ghoul gathering places, called him boss, a sign of respect.

”Ban Cang, where did you get that thing?”

Su Xiao showed some interest as he examined the bulletproof shield in Ban Cang’s hand.

”During the assault at the back door, a ghoul was holding this thing, and I later killed him with a grenade.”

Using grenades is the only explosive authorized by the CCG.

Ban Cang chuckled smugly and handed the bulletproof shield to Su Xiao.

The shield was entirely black, about 1.4 meters tall, with a rectangular viewing window made of bulletproof glass embedded in the upper middle.

”Boss Bai Ye, this is a China-manufactured FXF6-T anti-riot shield, Level 6 bulletproof! It can defend against everything except heavy sniper rifles.”

Su Xiao took the bulletproof shield; it was heavy and reliable in his hands.

”Everyone listen up, I’ll create an opportunity; get ready to wipe out these ghouls!”

Holding the bulletproof shield in his left hand and a knife in his right, Su Xiao charged out from behind the concrete pillar.

”Tutu, tututu!”

Through the bulletproof glass, Su Xiao saw a row of ghouls with guns, the dark muzzles spitting fire and bullets.

”Bang, bang, bang.”

Countless bullets struck the bulletproof shield.

Su Xiao’s advance was slowed by the storm of bullets.

The impact from each bullet wasn’t negligible, and now there were dozens, even hundreds.

Seeing Su Xiao charging with the shield, the ghoul leader was taken aback.

He recognized Su Xiao as the man who, in just a few seconds, had killed six of his subordinates up close.

The ghoul leader was dressed like a mercenary, with incredibly accurate gun skills.

”Push him back; don’t let him cross the frontline.”

The scar on the mercenary ghoul’s face twitched; it seemed to suddenly think of something, a cruel smile appearing as it searched behind for a weapon and raised a sniper rifle that was at least two meters long.

”Try blocking this.”

The mercenary ghoul’s eyes glinted with viciousness as he was about to pull the trigger; at this distance, aiming was unnecessary.

Su Xiao saw this through the bulletproof glass and didn’t react much.

Dragon Slash vanished, stored back into the storage space, and Su Xiao pulled a fist-sized metal ball from his lower back.

”Click.”

A crisp metal sound rang out as Su Xiao tossed the metal ball near the mercenary ghoul.

Gulu~, the iron ball rolled under the feet of the ghouls.

”Bastard!”

The mercenary ghoul cursed, tossing aside the sniper rifle, curling up into a ball, and Heko appeared, wrapping around him.

”Boom!”

A blaze of fire spread through the large warehouse, sending dust from the ceiling sprinkling down.

The countless shrapnel clattered against the bulletproof shield in Su Xiao’s hand.

This was a high explosive grenade that Su Xiao had applied for twice from CCG headquarters, who reluctantly approved it.

Most of the firepower from the ghouls ceased at this moment, as a burnt smell wafted through the air.

With a thud, a mangled half-leg dropped before Su Xiao, the stump charred and the tattered pant leg still burning.

Su Xiao had been waiting to throw the high explosive grenade, but the ghouls’ firepower was too dense. If thrown from a distance, the grenade might explode midair.

”Assault!”

With Su Xiao’s order, the investigators rushed out from behind cover.

Leading the charge, Su Xiao was at the forefront.

The mercenary ghoul staggered up, looking around in confusion, his Heko blown to pieces, ears bleeding, stunned.

Before the mercenary ghoul could recover, Su Xiao had already reached him, severing his neck with a clean cut, then turning to hunt for other ghouls.

The battle reversed in an instant. The evenly matched fight quickly turned into a one-sided massacre.

Half an hour later, the only ones left breathing in the warehouse were humans.

Su Xiao sat in a shabby chair to rest; under the gunfire baptism, the chair was down to three legs, making it uncomfortable to sit on.

The investigators began gathering the ghoul bodies together.

”First-class Bai Ye, the ghouls have been cleared. A total of 147 ghouls were driven out, and on our side....”

After listening to the report, Su Xiao nodded, signaling Maniwa Haruo to handle the follow-up.

Yukinori Shinohara was going to be transferred to District 20 tomorrow, and Su Xiao had driven out all the ghouls he could find.

Etori had no idea that the map she casually drew indirectly caused the deaths of over a thousand ghouls.

Su Xiao’s mission completion status had now become, [First-grade Investigator, Contribution Points 2053/2000, Upgrade Position Yes/No.]

Su Xiao chose to upgrade, and Reincarnation Paradise’s prompts faded.

Once the message from CCG headquarters arrived, he could complete the main task.

This made Su Xiao breathe a sigh of relief; he didn’t want to let fate rest in the hands of CCG.

As Su Xiao felt a lightness all over, a prompt from Reincarnation Paradise suddenly appeared.
