Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 489: Chapter 287: Friends in the Forest and the Berry of Friendship!

In the lush, green mountains.

The forest rangers sent by the Paldea League stared in shock at the gigantic-headed Pokemon, and the young man beside it.

What happened today had far exceeded their understanding.

What kind of Pokemon could instantly turn seeds planted in the soil into a fully grown forest?

”Hey, hey! What exactly happened? How did the forest grow instantly?”

At this moment, hurried footsteps approached from behind the crowd.

Some rangers who arrived late due to planting trees elsewhere ran over, faces full of disbelief, gazing at their comrades.

”That Pokemon helped us!”

Someone raised a trembling hand, pointing towards the distant Calyrex.

The late-arriving rangers looked up and saw a Pokemon with a huge head, wearing a gentle smile on its face, standing on the grass.

They had never seen such a Pokemon before.

But from its levitating feet, the glow emanating from its body, and its elegant demeanor, it was clearly not an ordinary Pokemon.

Thinking of this, the group of rangers was eager to know the name of that Pokemon.

”In this world, there actually exists a power that can make plants grow instantly!”

”What kind of Pokemon is that?”

As the words fell, people instinctively turned their gaze to the young man beside the Pokemon.

He seemed to be the trainer of that Pokemon. As a trainer, he must know about the Pokemon!

Naoki immediately felt the eyes resting on him.

He smiled slightly and slowly began to speak: ”He is Calyrex, the Pokemon that once ruled an entire region.”

”Caly...rex?”

”King Pokemon...”

People murmured in disbelief.

Upon hearing Naoki’s words, Calyrex’s face displayed a gentle smile.

His little devotee was once again diligently spreading his name.

However, the King of Galar had become a thing of the past. Now, he was just an ordinary farmer Pokemon.

”Alright, Chief, the matter here is settled. We shall return first,” Naoki said, looking at Geeta.

Geeta finally snapped out of it, her eyes sparkling with extraordinary brilliance, and said:

”Once again, the Paldea League owes you, as the chief, I must sincerely express our gratitude to you and Calyrex.”

Naoki smiled indifferently: ”Both humans and Pokemon are part of this world, helping them is also helping humanity itself. No need to thank me.”

After all, the mountains behind us were also a natural treasure trove for ranchers like us, much like the wild berries and vegetables in spring and summer, and mushrooms and pine cones in autumn.

Thanks to the poisonous mushrooms growing in those mountains, I was able to meet Giratina, the legendary Pokemon.

Yet Geeta shook her head: ”No matter what, you’ve helped the Paldea League solve the challenge of restoring the region’s ecology. At normal speed, this mountain would take a year to recover.”

”Not only that, during this time it would require considerable human and material resources to repair the natural ecology here. But now, thanks to you, the Paldea League can save this expense and invest in more meaningful things.”

Upon hearing this, Naoki did not continue to decline.

However, in the next second, Geeta extended an olive branch to him.

”The Paldea League welcomes outstanding talent, trainers like you. If you’re willing, I will apply to the League to specially invite you to join directly.”

Naoki: ”...”

Here we go again.

Naoki understood Geeta’s meaning. Working for the Paldea League was somewhat akin to being a public servant in his past life — a secure job.

Such that when one gets older and retires, every month one can receive a generous pension from the Paldea League.

For some professional trainers, this was an invaluable opportunity.

After all, every young trainer will eventually grow old.

But he really does not need it!

Seeing this, Geeta couldn’t help but sigh in regret.

Naoki smiled slightly, did not say much more, turned to bid farewell to Miss Joy and Miss Jenny, and then left with the Pokemon from the ranch.

Geeta watched their figures fade away into the dense mountains, then turned and said:

”Alright, thank you all for your hard work today!”

The group of forest rangers instantly felt like waking from a dream. The sky had darkened, and the day’s work had come to an end.

Thus, they began packing up their tools, heading down the mountain, ready to recount today’s occurrences to their friends and family once back.

The mysterious Pokemon Calyrex, restoring the entire mountain at once, was truly unbelievable!

With this, the matter regarding the mountain was perfectly resolved.

Watching the evening glow at the horizon, Miss Jenny and Miss Joy felt their moods relax as well.

”Calyrex is really amazing!” Miss Joy exclaimed.

Miss Jenny nodded; originally, she held a skeptical attitude towards the truth of such matters, but now, having witnessed the miracle performed by the King of Bountiful Harvests, all doubts in her heart vanished.
