Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 97: Chapter 78: Good Luck

”Lucky Pudding?”

Naoki was surprised upon seeing the effects of this dessert.

He immediately thought of those Pokemon with the Pickup ability. If he paired them with this pudding, it might just create some magical effects.

Pickup Pokemon...

The image of that Teddiursa appeared in Naoki’s mind.

According to Butterfree, it had successfully delivered the honey to that Teddiursa and conveyed the message.

But it had been several hours since Teddiursa left, and it hadn’t shown up at the ranch. Naoki had no way of knowing its attitude.

First of all, Teddiursa’s behavior of stealing is definitely wrong.

The reason for letting it exchange something for honey was in the hope that it could change its behavior and barter from nearby ranches to get honey.

If Teddiursa were that sensible, combined with its cute appearance, even without deliberately acting cute, the ranchers would be happy to share honey with it.

The personalities of most Pokemon are childlike, mischievous, but through certain events or the teachings of someone, their personalities can slowly change.

Even naturally evil Pokemon will restrain their nature once they recognize a human, making changes and becoming obedient for them.

Thinking about this, Naoki felt a touch of regret, regretting his missed connection with that Teddiursa.

He actually quite liked that kind of Pokemon, Teddiursa.

But this regret was quickly dispersed by Alcremie’s excited voice.

Naoki’s mind returned to reality. Looking at the Alcremie in front of him, he smiled and handed one of the puddings to it, then shared them with the other Pokemon one by one.

He tasted one himself, a cool sensation filling his mouth. Immediately, a sweet honey flavor mixed with MooMoo Fresh Milk and caramel filled his palate.

Not to mention, the taste was quite nice.

But the effects of this pudding seemed somewhat elusive.

Shortly enhancing the luck of the eater...

Naoki carefully felt it, only to find that his body didn’t feel any different from before.

Turning to look around, the scenery remained unchanged.

Many Pokemon, led by Alcremie, showed happy expressions after eating this pudding.

So, what would the expression of good luck be like?

Finding money while walking, encountering rare Pokemon, discovering mysterious treasures, a bountiful fishing haul—various possibilities appeared in Naoki’s mind.

With that thought, Naoki stepped out of the house. As he opened the door, he found something round on the doorstep.

It was a stone. Surprised, Naoki picked it up and, after examining it for a while, guessed its name.

”Everstone.”

”Is this the effect of the dish? It’s too impressive!” Naoki couldn’t help but think.

Just then, he suddenly noticed a sneaky figure not far away.

Gazing at that figure and holding the Everstone in his hand, Naoki had a sudden insight and shouted loudly, ”Teddiursa!”

The Teddiursa, sneaking a peek from around the corner, was startled, nearly jumping up.

Naoki: ”Come here!”

Teddiursa hesitated for a while, then cautiously stepped forward.

Naoki held the Everstone, looking at Teddiursa on the lawn, raised an eyebrow, and asked, ”Did you put this here?”

Teddiursa nodded repeatedly: ”Eemee eemee!”

”Why did you think of giving me this stone?”

”Eemee...” Teddiursa looked troubled, showing a rather difficult expression.

Seeing this, Naoki came to an understanding: ”You want to use it to exchange for honey with me?”

Just then, the happy Dragonite and other Pokemon, having finished their pudding, came running out of the house.

Seeing them, Teddiursa remembered that they knew about its attempt to steal honey and felt a bit fearful.

It couldn’t help but swallow a bit, then honestly nodded: ”Eemee...”

Is it really okay?

Quickly, Naoki gave an answer.

”Wait a moment!”

He turned back to the room, took a small portion of honey from the cabinet, and when preparing to leave, suddenly thought of the Lucky Pudding, so he took one along.

He wanted to see what sort of sparks the Pickup ability of Teddiursa would create with this Lucky Pudding.

After giving the honey to Teddiursa, its face instantly lit up with surprise.

”Eemee!”

Teddiursa had never imagined getting honey in this way.

Seeing its reaction, Naoki offered timely advice: ”You see, isn’t exchanging honey with humans this way much easier? Plus, the process is safe, without worrying about being discovered and attacked.”

”Eemee...”

Teddiursa thought carefully and indeed found it to be so.

Seeing this, Naoki then extended the Lucky Pudding.

”This is an extra gift from me. I hope you won’t steal other’s honey in the future.”

Hearing this, Teddiursa couldn’t help but feel ashamed.

”Eemee...”

Naoki said: ”Eat! It’s made with honey and should suit your taste.”

Teddiursa already smelled the honey scent emanating from it, and holding the plate, it looked at the caramel-colored pudding, greedily gulping down its saliva.

Hearing Naoki’s words, it immediately tilted its head back and devoured the pudding.

Instantly, a unique fragrance spread in its mouth, cool, bouncy, smooth, and delicious.

”Eemee!”

Teddiursa’s eyes sparkled instantly.

It had never tasted such delicious food!

What to do? It wanted to eat another one...

Naoki shrugged helplessly: ”That’s the last one. You just ate the final piece.”

”Eemee...”

Upon hearing this, Teddiursa’s face was full of disappointment, making even the honey in its hand seem less fragrant.

Right then, it heard the other party say: ”However, there might be new pudding next time you come over.”

Today was his first time making them. Beyond the flavor, just its effect warrant producing a large batch to store in the fridge’s fresh-keeping section.

In this way, every morning before heading out, one could eat a piece to boost their luck for the day, potentially encountering some unexpected fortunate events.

”Eemee eemee!”

Teddiursa nodded excitedly, looking forward to coming back.

It didn’t linger at the ranch. Hugging the honey it had traded a small stone for, it ran toward the back of the hill.

Naoki stood spot at a distance, watching Teddiursa leave. He had a hunch that this Teddiursa would definitely come back here to swap honey with him.

”How interesting.” Naoki looked at the Everstone in his hand, pondering: ”Did my luck improve from eating the Lucky Pudding and I encountered Teddiursa, or was it planning to exchange the stone for honey all along?”
