Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 83: Chapter 67: Phone Call

”Long time no see, Professor Sada.” Naoki responded politely.

Just then, a man walked into the camera frame.

He was dressed in a sci-fi style tight-fitting suit, had a short beard on his chin, and despite a slightly weathered face, it couldn’t hide his handsome appearance.

The man seemed to be around thirty years old, he walked up to Professor Sada and also turned his gaze toward Naoki on the other side.

Professor Sada looked at the man and introduced, ”This is my husband and partner, Professor Turo. He researches in a different direction from me; I study the [past], while he focuses on the [future].”

Naoki was well aware of the man’s identity; he looked at him and greeted, ”Hello, Professor Turo.”

Turo smiled slightly, ”Hello, Naoki, I’ve already heard from Sada about your situation with Koraidon.”

Professor Sada continued to ask, ”The reason I called you this time is mainly to understand Koraidon’s current situation. How has it been recently?”

Naoki nodded, ”Everything is fine, it eats and sleeps well, no different from any normal Pokemon.”

Hearing this, Professor Sada nodded thoughtfully and asked, ”During this time, did it show any aggressive behavior or attack other Pokemon?”

”No, it’s very gentle, uh, how should I put it?” Naoki thought for a moment, recalling Cyclizar, ”It gives me a vibe similar to Cyclizar — very obedient, sensible, and well-behaved.”

Cyclizar is known for its gentle nature and closeness to humans; otherwise, it wouldn’t be a must-have transportation tool for people in the Paldea Region.

Upon hearing this, Professor Sada and Professor Turo exchanged a glance, a hint of bewilderment in their eyes.

They still remembered when they first summoned that Koraidon, it directly attacked them, almost destroying the lab.

What’s going on? Is the Koraidon Naoki speaks of really the same as the one they remember?

After a brief thought, Professor Sada asked, ”And how does it act around others?”

”Uh, it seems unchanged.” Naoki said, ”Not long ago, I took Koraidon to a local festival celebration. It stayed by my side the whole time, helping me out without reacting to the crowd.”

This made Professor Sada even more bewildered.

After pondering for a moment, she said, ”Thank you very much for the information, Naoki. We’ll end the communication here for today. If you encounter anything, you can contact us via visual phone anytime.”

”Alright.” Naoki opened his mouth, looking at Professors Sada and Turo on the other side.

Since both professors are present, doesn’t that mean Arven might really lose his parents all of a sudden?

So, is there any way to change this?

Naoki was about to say something, but before he could speak, the communication was cut off.

Naoki was left in deep thought.

Should he help change the fate of the two professors?

For their dreams, they summoned the paradoxical Pokemon from the ”past” and ”future” to the ”present,” disrupting the current ecological balance and causing those ferocious Pokemon to invade the Paldea Region’s ecosystem.

Later, Professor Ai requested the player, Arven, Nemona, and Penny to come to Zone Zero to help shut down the Time Machine, but some paradoxical Pokemon still made it to the Paldea Region.

Naoki didn’t agree with the professors’ dreams, but from the actions of Ai, who inherited the emotions of the two professors, perhaps at the end of their lives, they might have regretted it.

That’s why Ai decided to change, asking the player with Koraidon to help shut down the Time Machine.

Meanwhile, at the depths of the Paldea Giant Pit, the Fourth Observation Station.

After the communication ended, Professors Sada and Turo walked outside, looking at a lightning-sparkling valley in the distance and the nearby Koraidon lazily lounging on the grass, eyes closed.

”They still can’t live peacefully together...” Professor Sada said.

Ever since this Koraidon and Miraidon were summoned, they have been constantly engaged in territorial disputes.

But neither could defeat the other, ultimately ending in a stalemate, as if reaching some sort of agreement, each occupying half of the territory.

Professor Turo mused, ”Miraidon and the modern Pokemon alike possess intelligence and emotions. To make them obedient, perhaps they need to be defeated to gain recognition?”

But Professor Sada didn’t entirely agree with this view.

”Naoki’s Koraidon hasn’t gone through any battle capture, and that young man doesn’t seem to be a powerful Trainer.”

”Hmm.” Professor Turo pondered, rubbing his chin.

After a long time, he finally said, ”Should we let Arven come and try? That child likes Pokemon a lot. Letting him live with Koraidon and Miraidon, slowly getting familiar, might one day help those two Pokemon accept him.”

However, halfway through, Professor Turo shook his head to himself, ”No, no, Zone Zero is too dangerous.”

”Forget it, let’s continue the research!” Professor Sada said to her husband.

Apart from Koraidon and Miraidon, there are many other paradoxical Pokemon that were summoned.

Like Great Tusk, Scream Tail, Slither Wing, Iron Thorns, Iron Valiant, Roaring Moon, and so on.

After lunch, Naoki didn’t immediately go out but sat at his desk, organizing the ranch’s account books.

The Rock Salt produced by Nacli and the Skiddo milk profits were huge, and coupled with the mushrooms in the cave, he had saved a lot of money over this time.

With more and more money piling up, Naoki prepared to go to the town’s bank to get a bank card to deposit the money.

”Hmm, it’s the right time to check with Keri if there are any more facilities to build,” Naoki thought.

Thinking it over, he decided to first complete all the basic infrastructure at the ranch.

The Combee hive, Skiddo pen, Chicken House, and Salt House were already there.

Still missing were the Wooloo pen and a Pokemon House for Miltank.

These two types of Pokemon weren’t native to the Paldea Region, and couldn’t be caught in the wild, only imported from other regions or bought from Happy Ranch.

Besides these, perhaps he could build places for other Pokemon.

A pasture for Tropius, a Sunflora Field, a berry orchard for Shuckle, a house for Chansey...

Though wild Chanseys are rare, what if he encounters one someday?

Compared to normal eggs, Chansey’s eggs are more nutritious and delicious, edible by both humans and Pokemon.

Besides, he also needed to buy a TV, a refrigerator, and an air conditioner.

With a refrigerator, food could be stored longer, and he could make ice creams and popsicles.

With a TV, in the evenings, when there’s nothing to do and he can’t sleep, he can snuggle up with a group of Pokemon and watch TV.

As for the air conditioner, it’s also a necessity.

Naoki knew from the original owner’s memory that summers in the Paldea Region are scorching hot.

Without an air conditioner, staying in the wooden house might feel like being roasted alive.

Just the thought of that clammy, sweaty feeling made Naoki uncomfortable all over.

So, the air conditioner must be installed before summer arrives.

After planning out his next steps in his mind, Naoki rode Koraidon to town.

He first got a bank card, then went to Keri’s forest hut.

When Naoki arrived, Keri was bandaging a wound on a Mankey.

Seeing Naoki’s surprised look, she smiled and explained:

”Ever since I saved a blue-feathered Squawkabilly a short while ago, wounded Pokemon have been coming to me for treatment from time to time in this forest.”

As she spoke, Keri gently patted the Mankey and softly said, ”Alright, it’s all better now. Go home!”

Mankey looked at the bow-shaped bandage on its paw, scratched its head with its claws, squeaked twice, then turned and ran off.

Keri watched its back until it disappeared.

Just as she was about to turn and speak to Naoki, the Mankey suddenly ran back quickly and placed a Berry into Keri’s hand before darting away again.

Keri looked at the Berry in her hand and smiled slightly. Then she put it away and turned to Naoki, asking, ”So, what new facility do you want to build this time?”
