Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 67: Chapter 55: Night of Stars and Moon, Metapod’s Metamorphosis! (Double Chapter)

It possesses the power to manipulate vegetation and make it grow, strong enough to protect the farmland.

”What a pity, there’s no wild Tapu Bulu, otherwise I’d definitely lure it here to become the guardian of my farm.”

Naoki felt a little regretful, but was in no hurry to capture these Pokemon just yet.

The fields had been sown, and there was more than a month until the next harvest. In the meantime, he would attend the Sakura Blossom Wine Party to experience the customs of the Pokemon World.

Apart from all this, the farm currently needed a Pokemon that could use Rain Dance.

Naoki’s gaze turned to the Dragonite resting on the grass not far away.

He originally intended to capture this Dragonite to help with watering.

But this Dragonite didn’t know how to use the move Rain Dance...

Moreover, the food that could help Dragonite master the move hadn’t been prepared yet, and after last time’s incident of forgetting Dragon Tail, he didn’t dare to use the Berry Platter to teach moves again.

At this point, Naoki suddenly had a brainwave.

It turns out, this Dragonite’s comprehension wasn’t too bad, as evidenced by its learning of Dragon Tail.

The reason it had only mastered four moves might be due to not having the correct learning method and techniques for using moves.

Also, it was very diligent, hardly ever being lazy in its pursuit to become stronger.

After pondering for a moment, Naoki called Dragonite over and asked, ”Dragonite, do you know the move Rain Dance?”

”Roar...” Dragonite looked dejected.

It knew that on Dragonite Island, many powerful Dragonites knew this move. They could control air currents and the Water Type energy in the atmosphere, altering the weather to bring down rain.

But this dumb Dragonite simply couldn’t do it.

At that moment, Dragonite suddenly felt a hand placed on its shoulder.

It lifted its head and saw Naoki encouragingly saying, ”Don’t lose heart, do you remember how you learned Dragon Tail?”

”Roar.” Dragonite nodded.

Naoki continued, ”So, as long as we find the right way and practice diligently, we’ll surely learn Rain Dance one day.” Then use Rain Dance to help water the fields.

The light in Dragonite’s eyes rekindled, its fighting spirit restored: ”Roar!”

To find out how to use Rain Dance, Naoki immediately went to Yousuke who was resting nearby, and discussed this move with him.

”Rain Dance?”

Naoki nodded. He hadn’t yet seen a Pokemon use Rain Dance in real life. From the anime, it seemed like Pokemon just needed to pray toward the sky for rain to fall.

But there must be more to it in terms of details, Naoki felt it wasn’t that simple.

Sure enough, Yousuke’s next words confirmed his suspicions.

”This move seems to be related to a Pokemon’s control over energy. There hasn’t been research on this by Pokemon Doctors and scholars in the Galar Region, but Professor Kukui from the Alola Region once published a paper on this.”

”He’s a very remarkable professor! Especially passionate about researching Pokemon moves, having even personally experienced Pokemon moves!”

At this, Yousuke’s face showed admiration.

Naoki: ”...”

Both are die-hard enthusiasts, aren’t they?

Yousuke returned to the main topic: ”As everyone knows, for Pokemon to skillfully use moves, they need to have control over their own energy, commonly referred to as comprehension. The higher the comprehension, the greater the chance of mastering the move.”

”Although I’m not entirely sure how to practice Rain Dance, I feel it might start from the sky, after all, when this move is used, the rain falls from the sky.”

The sky?

Naoki was slightly taken aback, then nodded thoughtfully.

That’s right, if a Pokemon is to be taught a new move, it should first become acquainted with it, then understand it, and finally succeed in using it.

The environment with Sunny Day might not be ideal for understanding it either, so waiting for a rainy day would be better.

Naoki silently made up his mind that when it rained, he would take Dragonite into the sky to experience the formation and fall of rain.

As for now, it was time to prepare dinner.

But before that, he had to sell today’s harvested crops.

These goods were sold by weight, with different prices for each type, totaling over twenty thousand League Coins.

Compared to animal husbandry, this price was indeed somewhat low.

But it could also be due to the limited amount of farmland developed in the ranch.

Besides selling, Naoki kept a portion of each kind as ingredients.

Yousuke planned to leave Porto Marinada Town tomorrow to continue his journey, so this was his last night here.

The cabin space was insufficient, with only one bed, so Yousuke simply set up a tent on the lawn outside to camp.

Tonight’s weather was clear, and after nightfall, the sky full of stars and the glowing moon could be seen distinctly, illuminating the deep night sky, giving a serene, harmonious, and beautiful feeling.

After dinner, Naoki didn’t immediately go to sleep but lay on the grass with a group of Pokemon, stargazing.

Starry skies easily invoke philosophical thoughts.

Yousuke gazed up, lost in thought for a long time, then suddenly asked, ”Does the cosmos also have Pokemon living in it like this planet?”

Naoki lay resting his head on his arms, with Koraidon and Cyclizar lying on either side of him.

Dragonite yawned not far away, while Alcremie played with five Nacli on the grass, Smoliv gently watched them, swaying its tiny body on the grass.

”Probably!” Naoki took a deep breath.

In the big city, there’s hardly a chance to see such a beautiful starry sky, perhaps because in his previous life, he was too busy working for a living to notice such scenes.

”Isn’t there a rumor that Clefairies came to this planet on a spaceship from the moon?” Naoki said.

Besides Clefairy, there’s Minior, Nebby, Necrozma, Deoxys...

Upon hearing this, Yousuke showed a yearning expression: ”I really want to see the cosmos!”

Naoki softly said, ”One day, you’ll see them.”

Yousuke was a bit puzzled: ”Eh? Why do you say that?”

Naoki raised an eyebrow: ”Hasn’t humanity never stopped its footsteps of exploration?”

There are still Pokemon undiscovered by humans in this world. Humanity’s current achievements are the result of explorers’ efforts throughout history.

Yousuke was momentarily stunned, then laughed: ”Indeed!”

Just then, as Cyclizar resting with its head facing the cabin seemed to suddenly notice something, it shouted in that direction: ”Gyao!”

Naoki’s attention was drawn, he turned his head to see a brilliant light emanating from the Metapod hanging under the eaves.

”It’s evolving?!” Yousuke exclaimed in surprise.

He had never seen a Metapod evolve into Butterfree, which intrigued him greatly.

The two quickly got up to check.

In the blinding light, Metapod’s hard, dark green shell on its back gradually cracked open.

Then, a slightly immature Butterfree, with a bluish-purple body and a pair of large white wings, emerged from the shell.

It flew out of the shell, dancing gracefully in the starlight and moonlight, the powder on its wings sparkling, leaving a trail like a galaxy in its flight path.

Yousuke was stunned by this beautiful scene, muttering, ”So beautiful!”

Naoki, too, couldn’t help but marvel at the sight.

A single Butterfree was so beautiful; how magnificent would it be if a group evolved together!

Butterfree spread its wings in mid-air, and after slightly adapting to its current body, it gently landed in front of Naoki.

”Pii-pii~”

Naoki smiled and said, ”Congratulations, Butterfree.”

”Pii-pii~” Butterfree responded softly.

Naoki turned and went into the cabin to grab a few Berries, saying with a smile, ”Hungry? Let’s eat something first!”

Butterfree happily accepted, nibbling on the Berries bit by bit.

Naoki sat on the grass, watching Butterfree eat.

Yousuke, on the other hand, took out paper and pen from his backpack, hurriedly sketching Butterfree’s evolution under the moonlight while the memory was still fresh.

Naoki leaned against Cyclizar nearby, the evening breeze tousling his hair. Watching Butterfree and the tranquil night scene brought an unprecedented sense of peace and relaxation to his heart.

Only, when Koraidon saw Naoki leaning against Cyclizar instead of it, it began to feel intensely jealous inside.

”Agaaah!”
