Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 62: Chapter 51: Dragonite’s Decision

Dragonite had never been this happy before.

When it was young, no one taught it, and it couldn’t grasp those powerful moves by itself, so every time it could only stand aside and watch the other Dragonites on the island summoning the wind and rain with longing eyes.

On the island, it was known as the dumb Dragonite.

Although it wasn’t ridiculed by others, Dragonite still felt sad because of it.

Especially since the Dragonite it liked was also stronger than it.

So, every night, it would quietly leave Dragonite Island and go to a secluded place to daydream.

Now, it had successfully learned Dragon Tail, and the number of moves it mastered had increased from four to five.

This was truly something that made the dragon happy.

Thus, it wagged its tail, strutting proudly around the pasture.

First stop, it came to Cyclizar lying under the eaves enjoying the shade.

Dragonite used Dragon Tail and happily exclaimed to Cyclizar, ”Awoo!”

”Gao?”

Cyclizar looked at Dragonite in confusion, with a dumbfounded and adorable expression.

Then, its eyes lit up, as if it had thought of something, and it stood up, performing Dragon Tail towards the air.

It learned this move too!

Dragonite: ”Awoo...”

Seeing Cyclizar’s bewildered gaze, Dragonite turned around and headed to the Skiddo pen.

Like a child who scored high on a test, it couldn’t wait to share its ”grades” with its friends.

The three Skiddos watched Dragonite’s actions innocently.

At first, they were also a bit confused.

But soon, the three Skiddos suddenly understood.

The new moves, they had also comprehended a lot of them!

The Skiddos began to demonstrate as well.

Grassy Terrain, Synthesis, Solar Beam, Vine Whip, Razor Leaf...

Green light enveloped the entire pen, the robust Solar Beam swept across the sky, green vines danced gracefully, and verdant leaves fluttered like snowflakes.

What was clearly an ordinary pen turned into an international fashion stage at this moment.

The Solar Beam became a laser spotlight, the Vine Whip became ropes, and Razor Leaf turned into snowflakes created by a snow machine.

The three Skiddos transformed into top supermodels, showcasing themselves in the dazzling light beams.

Amidst the bleating, Dragonite felt a bit dazed.

Thus, Naoki, who was busy in the field, soon saw Dragonite running back, even forgetting to take off the red pouch on its waist.

”Awoo!”

Naoki was a bit surprised, ”What happened this time?”

”Awoo...”

Dragonite pointed with its claw at the Skiddos and then at itself, feeling sad.

Naoki was at a loss and guessed, ”Did the Skiddos bully you?”

Dragonite shook its head, then used Dragon Tail, and let out a determined cry, ”Awoo!”

Naoki understood, ”You learned Dragon Tail and now want to learn other moves?”

”Awoo!”

Dragonite nodded repeatedly.

”I see!”

Naoki began to ponder what other moves would be suitable for Dragonite to learn.

And at that moment, he suddenly thought of the Berry Platter from before.

Previously, he was worried that Dragonite’s trust levels weren’t high enough, and consuming the Berry Platter might cause it to forget moves, losing trust in him, so Naoki didn’t let it use it.

Now, seeing Dragonite’s current state, it seemed ready to accept it.

With a brief thought, Naoki gave the choice to Dragonite:

”I have a very special way to help you learn new moves.”

Dragonite’s eyes lit up with a gleam, looking over expectantly, ”Awoo?”

Naoki continued, ”But that method is beyond my control and isn’t guaranteed. It might make you forget current moves, or it might help you learn new ones.”

”Awoo...” Dragonite hesitated upon hearing it might forget moves.

Naoki didn’t push, patiently waiting by the side.

Dragonite’s mind flashed with life on the island and the dazzling moves just showcased by the Skiddos.

After a while, it finally made up its mind.

”Awoo!”

”Willing to try?” Naoki asked.

Dragonite nodded.

”Alright then.”

Naoki exhaled, having just finished the farm work, and led Dragonite back to the cabin.

He first washed his hands covered in soil and then took out the remaining few berries from the cupboard.

The berries were enough to make two servings.

Naoki cut the berries into pieces, placed them on a plate, and handed them to Dragonite.

Dragonite took it with its claws, looking at the berry pieces with curiosity and doubt.

”Awoo?”

Could these ordinary berries really help it comprehend new moves?

”Wanna try?” Naoki suggested.

”Awoo!”

Dragonite nodded, tipped its head back, and poured the berries into its mouth, chewing a little before swallowing them all.

After a moment, Naoki eagerly asked, ”Feel any changes within?”

Dragonite carefully sensed, then its eyes brightened, excitedly exclaiming, ”Awoo!”

”Figured something out? What is it?” Naoki asked eagerly.

The room was too small for Dragonite to demonstrate, so they both went outside.

Dragonite flapped its wings and left the ground, its energy shifted, and its eyes turned determined.

In the next moment, its body accelerated like a bolt of lightning, moving so fast that it was hard for any opponent to react.

”Extreme Speed,” Naoki’s mind identified the move.

Soon, Dragonite flew back.

It appeared excited, eager to try once more.

Seeing this, Naoki returned indoors and used the remaining berries to prepare another Berry Platter.

But upon completing it, he had a sudden idea and took out Black Truffle from the cupboard, sprinkling some powder on top.

As Naoki looked down, he noticed that the description of the Berry Platter had changed.

[Berry Platter (B+): A delicacy made from various berries with a fusion of different berry flavors, enhanced with Black Truffle powder to enrich its taste, favored by some Pokemon.

Cooking Effect: Skill Refinement, upon consumption, random change in one of the Pokemon’s moves, with increased chance of comprehending powerful rare moves.

Evaluation: A basic dish, easy to make, a great choice for home or travel.]

”Increased chance of comprehending rare moves?” Naoki raised his eyebrows, honestly expecting this effect.

He wasn’t sure if it expanded the skill pool or increased the chance of learning moves.

With a brief thought, he handed the enhanced Berry Platter to Dragonite.

Dragonite gulped it down.

Moments later, it became teary-eyed.

”Awoo...”

Naoki: ”...”

”What did you forget?” he asked.

Dragonite wagged its tail, trying to use Dragon Tail but failed.

Well, that’s unfortunate, just learned and already forgotten?

With a brief thought, Naoki comforted, ”Don’t worry, you remember how you learned Dragon Tail, right?”

”Awoo...” Dragonite nodded sadly.

Naoki: ”So, the experience is still there. As long as you practice again, it shouldn’t take long to recall the technique for using Dragon Tail.”

After experiencing the power of the Berry Platter, Dragonite felt a bit timid inside.

It didn’t dare continue and pitifully went outside to resume practicing Dragon Tail.

Naoki followed it out, standing under the eaves watching the diligent Dragonite practice, and couldn’t help but sigh.

After a while, he murmured, ”Out of berries at home, seems like I’ll need to replenish them from town.”
