Naruto: Orochimaru's Disciple

Chapter 535: Chapter 535: Six Paths Sage, Help Me!

Chapter 535: Six Paths Sage, Help Me!

In the Ninja World, how did someone become a Ninja?

The answer depended on the situation.

If they were prodigies like Naruto and Sasuke, then once they reached the proper age, they would enter the Ninja Academy for systematic training. After passing the graduation assessment, they would officially become Ninja.

The Ninja Academy was basically the most fundamental method every major village used to cultivate Ninja. It was simple, stable, and extremely important. Even some promising geniuses would be sent there for training, just like the 12 rookies of Konoha.

Those children from clans were usually young people valued within their families. Sending them to the Ninja Academy was also a form of compromise between the clans and the village.

However, if someone came from a large clan, then their family would have its own internal Chakra refining method. They would use that method to determine whether a child had the qualifications to become a Ninja. Those who could refine Chakra would receive internal training first. Later, 1 or 2 promising children would be sent to the Ninja Academy for formal education, and eventually they would become Ninja.

But for someone like Amamiya Kenichi, who had no prominent background, no clan protection, and parents who were not Ninja, the path was much harsher.

A commoner orphan like him, if he wanted to become a Ninja, had only 1 route.

When he reached the proper age, he had to pay a fee and undergo a test.

Even the lowest quality Chakra refining method, the most basic and common method, required a special payment to learn. If he could refine Chakra, then he would have the qualifications to become a Ninja.

Could the Chakra refining method be privately taught?

Of course.

Ninja would not place memory seals or anything like that just because of such a basic method.

However, if one wanted official recognition, one had to pay and undergo testing. Otherwise, even if someone managed to refine Chakra, they would not be able to receive further education.

Even then, passing the test only proved whether someone had the potential to become a Ninja. There was still an assessment afterward to determine whether they were truly a Ninja or merely an ordinary person who could refine Chakra.

Unfortunately, Amamiya Kenichi had been an ordinary person.

He could not even refine Chakra.

If he had not obtained his cheat later, then perhaps Amamiya Kenichi would have lived his entire life as an ordinary person in Konoha, then tried to find some other path.

”Konan, now make the hand seals according to the method I taught you. After that, try to sense whether there is a flow of air inside your body. If you can sense it, guide it out.”

Amamiya Kenichi explained patiently, though everything he said was basically copied from that arrogant Ninja back then.

”Okay.”

Konan nodded, then performed the hand seals exactly as Amamiya Kenichi had demonstrated. She closed her eyes and began sensing the existence of Chakra.

Amamiya Kenichi quietly watched Konan, carefully observing whether there would be any changes in her.

For some reason, he suddenly remembered that day.

Back then, he had used the money he had earned from helping at the orphanage and doing odd jobs to test whether he had the qualifications to become a Ninja. He had hoped to use that method to change his fate.

After all, having transmigrated into the world of Naruto, who would not want to become a powerful Ninja?

But under the cold, ruthless, and slightly mocking gaze of that Ninja, Amamiya Kenichi had been completely crushed by those chilling words.

”You are not qualified.”

From that day onward, he had lived in endless darkness.

Until one day, he finally obtained the system.

However, looking at Konan in front of him, Amamiya Kenichi knew that this time would be different.

”Brother Gen, I feel the thing you mentioned.”

As expected, Konan opened her eyes and looked at Amamiya Kenichi with a pleasantly surprised expression.

A faint smile appeared on Amamiya Kenichi’s face.

The future Konan was the Angel of the Akatsuki and Nagato’s close friend. Although her strength was somewhat difficult to evaluate, she was definitely at Jonin level.

Ninja who could become Jonin were all talented Ninja.

So Amamiya Kenichi knew Konan would definitely become a Ninja.

This was not a question.

It was a multiple choice question with only 1 answer.

”Konan is really amazing. Now, you just need to keep refining that thing and store it.”

Amamiya Kenichi smiled.

Konan had refined Chakra.

However, Konan still looked the same. There were no strange external changes.

It seemed that refining Chakra might be an internal change within the body, unrelated to appearance.

”Okay!”

Konan nodded seriously and continued concentrating on refining Chakra.

Meanwhile, Amamiya Kenichi fell into thought.

Konan had begun refining Chakra, but this Genjutsu still showed no movement. It did not seem like it would break immediately.

Amamiya Kenichi even began to doubt whether this was truly a Genjutsu, because everything felt far too real.

However, considering something like Tsukuyomi existed, Amamiya Kenichi suppressed his confusion.

After all, Tsukuyomi was equally powerful. And as Ōtsutsuki Isshiki, a member of the Ōtsutsuki Clan, it was hard to say whether he had mastered some even more powerful Genjutsu.

But Amamiya Kenichi was confused about 1 thing.

Why had the Six Paths Sage outside made no move yet?

Amamiya Kenichi had originally thought the Six Paths Sage would help him and let him out.

Thinking of this, Amamiya Kenichi looked down at his palm.

There was nothing on it.

The thing the Six Paths Sage had given him was also gone.

Amamiya Kenichi walked out of the cave and climbed up the hill.

As usual, he glanced down at the town below.

The village and town were still the same, but Amamiya Kenichi noticed several figures moving at extremely fast speed.

If he guessed correctly, those people should be Ninja from the Land of Rain, or perhaps Ninja from other countries.

But given the current situation, Amamiya Kenichi felt it was more likely that they were Ninja from the Land of Rain.

Those Ninja were mainly moving along the outskirts of the village and town, rather than entering to plunder.

If they were Ninja from enemy countries, they would probably have already acted.

After all, the current war between the 5 Great Nations was not about annexing territory. It was merely about money and various resources.

Winning the hearts of the people was useless.

Many people always believed that war required winning the hearts of the people.

In truth, that was not necessarily the case.

If war was only for plunder and destruction, then the cruelest side of war would be revealed.

Amamiya Kenichi pondered.

He wanted to go down and see Nagato, then see if he could find Yahiko.

After all, Konan and the others should have gathered during this war. Later, they would meet Jiraiya and become Ninja.

And Amamiya Kenichi felt that if Konan and the others could meet Jiraiya, then perhaps they could also meet his teacher.

Could it be that in this Genjutsu, his teacher was still the key to breaking the situation?

Amamiya Kenichi did not know.

”These guys are so tense. Fighting has probably already started outside, but now is not the right time for me to launch a sneak attack.”

Amamiya Kenichi looked at the town below, then retreated.

He did not think this was a suitable time to act.

The town below was clearly still under the control of the Land of Rain’s forces, which did not meet Amamiya Kenichi’s requirements.

What Amamiya Kenichi wanted was chaos.

Only chaos would allow him to fish in troubled waters.

Otherwise, if he went down now, he would probably be conscripted or thrown somewhere to fill a gap. Whether he survived would depend entirely on luck.

Thinking of this, Amamiya Kenichi left the hill.

He planned to see whether he could catch some prey or something similar.

But right now, he had no means of combat. Even if he did, he could not use them casually, because that would easily attract the attention of the Ninja below.

So Amamiya Kenichi only intended to set up some simple traps.

”Brother Gen.”

Pushing open the door, Amamiya Kenichi saw Konan.

Konan was holding a paper flower and looking at him.

What surprised Amamiya Kenichi was that the paper flower in Konan’s hand was extremely exquisite. If it had color, he would have believed it if someone told him it was a real flower.

”Konan, how is your Chakra refining coming along?”

Amamiya Kenichi smiled and closed the wooden door again.

In an instant, the cave became dim.

Fortunately, it was still clear enough to see. It was not completely dark.

”Brother Gen, I only refined this much.”

Konan extended her hand.

Amamiya Kenichi immediately saw a tiny white glow on Konan’s finger.

It was extremely faint.

If not for the dimness inside the cave at that moment, Amamiya Kenichi might not have even noticed that weak light.

Amamiya Kenichi looked at the faint Chakra in Konan’s hand and could not help smiling. Then he reached out and ruffled Konan’s head.

He had once yearned to become a Ninja.

But he did not have the qualifications.

And Konan?

She had just started refining Chakra today, and she had succeeded immediately.

It seems I can also teach Konan a more advanced Chakra refining method. The one I use myself should work. This common method is definitely not enough.

”Yes. Konan is amazing.”

Amamiya Kenichi looked at Konan’s innocent face and could not help smiling.

Konan became even happier after hearing his praise.

But then, the faint light disappeared.

”Brother Gen, I still cannot control this Chakra for too long. I am sorry.”

Konan lowered her head, a little uneasy.

She was afraid that this would disappoint Amamiya Kenichi.

”Konan is already doing great.”

Amamiya Kenichi did not mind.

After all, Konan had only just begun learning how to refine Chakra, and it was the most basic and common refining method.

Naturally, she could not refine much Chakra.

Being able to condense Chakra into this form was already remarkable enough.

And this also gave Amamiya Kenichi a glimmer of hope.

Since Konan could refine Chakra and condense it onto her fingertips, it would not be too long before she became a Ninja.

Although he currently had no combat ability, he could train Konan to protect him.

This was also a method.

He had already tried. His current body could not refine Chakra, and he did not know how Ōtsutsuki Isshiki had endured this back then.

”Mhm!”

Konan was very happy.

Looking at the happy Konan, Amamiya Kenichi could not help falling into deep thought.

Because of the air circulation problem inside the cave, it was impossible to light a fire for illumination.

This also meant that during the day, the entire cave was very dark, making everything inconvenient.

So perhaps he could try to create a simple lighting facility.

Candles were the simplest method.

However, burning candles also consumed oxygen, which was not a good choice for a cave that already had poor air circulation.

Amamiya Kenichi thought of electric lights.

There were light bulbs in the Ninja World, but electric lights required electricity.

Fortunately, Amamiya Kenichi knew some of the most basic methods of producing electricity, such as using mechanical kinetic energy.

For example, pedal bicycles could also be modified to generate electricity.

Although this method of power generation was inefficient and ineffective, in the current situation, there was no more suitable method.

Although it would be a bit strenuous, at least it could brighten the cave instead of leaving it constantly shrouded in darkness.

”I have a workshop. Making gears and similar things will not be a problem, and I can also produce wires. But the problem is, I need raw materials.”

Amamiya Kenichi scratched his head.

Although he had the idea and knew the design concept, the problem was that he had no raw materials.

Gears had to be made.

Wires had to be made.

Everything had to be made.

For wires to conduct electricity well, he would also need copper.

All in all, it was very troublesome.

When he was with his teacher, Amamiya Kenichi never worried about materials.

But now, everything depended on himself.

Just as Amamiya Kenichi was thinking about how to solve these problems, he heard noisy sounds coming from outside.

He instantly became vigilant.

Amamiya Kenichi waved at Konan, signaling her not to speak.

Konan obediently nodded.

Amamiya Kenichi slowly moved to the cave entrance, then glanced outside.

In the forest, 2 Ninja were fighting.

Amamiya Kenichi narrowed his eyes.

The speed of those 2 Ninja was extremely fast, and their use of the Body Flicker Technique made them appear as if they were teleporting.

From the perspective of an ordinary person, all Ninja were monsters.

If he wanted to deal with monsters, he had to be even more careful and cautious.

The 2 Ninja fought in the forest for a while, then both left.

The forest became silent again.

Amamiya Kenichi stroked his chin thoughtfully.

Ninja, to some extent, were already a different species from ordinary people.

The only difference was that there was no reproductive isolation.

”How troublesome...”

Amamiya Kenichi sighed.

Where was the Six Paths Sage?

Help me.

What was that old man doing?

Amamiya Kenichi completely did not understand.

He had already spent 1 day inside this Genjutsu, but the Six Paths Sage still showed no movement. This left Amamiya Kenichi somewhat confused.

Logically speaking, the Six Paths Sage should not be that weak.

So what exactly was going on?

What exactly had happened outside?

Had the Six Paths Sage taken action himself?

Or had Ōtsutsuki Isshiki done something else?

Amamiya Kenichi did not know.

He had no control over the outside world now, and his cheat was also gone.

That made Amamiya Kenichi’s scalp tingle.
