Naruto: Orochimaru's Disciple

Chapter 504: Chapter 504: Hidan

Chapter 504: Hidan

”Teacher, speaking of which, where’s Hidan?”

Kenichi wiped his mouth as he sat in his seat.

He had just finished eating and was planning to rest, but looking at the food on the table made Kenichi’s thoughts drift to an old acquaintance.

Or rather, a former acquaintance.

Hidan.

Ever since Kenichi captured Hidan and sent him to Orochimaru, Kenichi had not seen him for a long time.

The last time he saw Hidan was in Orochimaru’s laboratory, where Orochimaru had seemed to be conducting a special experiment with him.

Kenichi was curious about the results.

But since Orochimaru had not said anything, Kenichi did not know.

So Kenichi decided to see what kind of life Hidan had been living during this period.

”Hidan? Oh, you mean that immortal guy?”

Orochimaru clearly paused, then remembered something.

He pondered for a moment before looking at Kenichi and speaking with a smile.

Kenichi nodded when he heard this.

Indeed, it was that immortal guy.

Because of his faith in Jashin, Hidan was immortal to a certain extent.

However, this immortality also depended on the circumstances.

Kenichi remembered that Kishimoto had once mentioned Hidan in an interview.

At that time, Hidan had been avenged by Shikamaru, who had scattered his body and buried him underground.

Although Hidan would not die directly because of his faith in Jashin, he would still die without nutritional supplements.

So Kishimoto once said, ”Hidan should be rotting and stinking underground by now.”

From this, it was clear that Hidan was not absolutely immortal.

He merely had a rather strict condition for his immortality.

”Immortal?”

Amado also became interested.

Kenichi looked at Amado and realized that Mr. Amado did not seem to know about Hidan’s existence.

So it was not strange that he did not know about Hidan.

This was a good opportunity to take Mr. Amado to see Hidan and allow him to learn more about him.

Who knew, perhaps Amado could even develop something new from Hidan in the future.

”Yes. I once captured a guy named Hidan in a small village. That guy worshipped a special Evil God, Jashin, who granted him immortality. Even if his heart was pierced with a knife, he would be fine.”

Kenichi nodded.

He had always thought the Shinobi World was a magical place, with so many magical people.

Like Hidan.

Or Kakuzu.

And even, to some extent, Orochimaru was also a very magical person.

”That powerful? So where is he now?”

Amado was indeed interested.

By then, they had just finished eating.

Kenichi and Orochimaru took Amado to Orochimaru’s laboratory.

In a room in a corner of the laboratory, Kenichi once again saw his old acquaintance, Hidan.

However, the current Hidan looked quite normal, except for his motionless, vacant stare.

”Teacher, did you put Hidan’s body back together?”

Kenichi looked at Hidan in front of him.

His body at this moment looked very normal, with no abnormalities, unlike before when Orochimaru had separated him into countless pieces.

Hidan was now complete, but he still had no expression.

His eyes were lifeless, without the slightest movement.

The electrodes Orochimaru had placed on his forehead detected no brainwave activity.

It could be said that at this moment, Hidan had no other use except for his still-beating heart.

”Hmm. This guy’s brainwaves have completely stopped. I tried stimulating him before, but I found that he had no reaction to almost all forms of stimulation. Even genjutsu was useless on him, so I simply put him back together.”

Orochimaru nodded.

Amado picked up the experimental log beside him and glanced at it.

It detailed Hidan’s experimental process during this period.

However, Amado quickly noticed that the initial experimental records were very numerous, but later on, the records became fewer and fewer.

Toward the end, they were even more sparse.

[Today, I received an interesting test subject from my student, Amamiya Kenichi. His name is Hidan, a very lively and energetic young man. My student told me that this is a man who cannot be killed, which greatly interested me.]

[The experiment began. I tried many ninjutsu on him. Fire Release, Lightning Release, Wind Release, almost every ninjutsu was attempted, but just as Amamiya Kenichi said, this young man cannot be killed.]

[Even when I pierced his heart with a knife, even when I cut off his head and placed it on the cabinet, his incessant mouth still spewed various curses, which made me even more interested.]

[I researched the markings on Hidan’s body and found that they seem to originate from ancient times, the era when the Sage of Six Paths was still active. Based on my research on Hidan during this period, I found that he believes in a god, and he is especially fanatical about wanting me to believe in that god as well. He said that as long as I believe in that god, I can also gain immortality, but the price is to perform sacrifices from time to time, using living people as offerings.]

[Jashin Cult. This is the name of the Evil God cult Hidan believes in. I must say, it is a very interesting name. It is my first time hearing of a person or religion directly naming their sect the Evil God Cult, but according to Hidan, he always refers to the other party as Jashin-sama.]

Amado scratched his head.

Was this not an experimental log?

Why had it suddenly become so mystical?

An Evil God had even appeared?

And it seemed that this Evil God had granted Hidan the ability to avoid death.

This immediately made Amado interested.

Kenichi also watched from the side.

He did not have much to say about this.

After all, he knew that the Shinobi World was not as simple as it appeared.

Were there gods in the Shinobi World?

It was hard to say.

But based on the information Kenichi had obtained so far, he believed that there were probably gods in this world.

However, these gods might be different from the gods Kenichi understood.

There were roughly two deities explicitly appearing in the Shinobi World.

One was the Shinigami summoned after using the Dead Demon Consuming Seal.

The other was the Evil God Hidan believed in, Jashin.

However, it could not be ruled out that more deities existed in other hidden corners of the Shinobi World, since the abilities of these gods were somewhat different.

As for the Three Great Sage Regions, those were another special type of place.

The Great Toad Sage and the others there belonged to another branch.

They were called Sages, but they were simply extraordinary beings who were especially skilled in cultivating Sage Mode.

”There are gods in the Shinobi World? If there are gods, why haven’t they formed any major religious sects?”

Amado was somewhat curious.

He observed Hidan.

Hidan’s body looked normal, but it was not until he poked Hidan’s head with a knife that he confirmed Hidan was indeed immortal.

Although he would bleed, his heartbeat and other vital signs remained normal.

”I think it’s possible that most of those gods have already been killed off.”

Kenichi offered another perspective.

The Sage of Six Paths clearly had not done nothing back then.

Although the Sage of Six Paths seemed to have done nothing, Kenichi knew that he had definitely done some things.

For example, the parasites in Kenichi’s possession had been exterminated by the Sage of Six Paths.

If Kenichi had not obtained a piece of amber, this useful parasite might have disappeared from the Shinobi World forever.

In other words, the Sage of Six Paths must have thoroughly subdued beings like Evil Gods and the Shinigami, making them dare not show their faces.

They could only curse the Sage of Six Paths in dark corners every day.

The existence of the Shinigami’s title, generally speaking, should certainly be related to the afterlife.

But look at the Shinigami.

How starved and emaciated was he?

All ninja souls went to the Pure Land after death, not into the Shinigami’s stomach.

This showed that the Shinigami completely did not dare go to the Pure Land to provoke the Sage of Six Paths.

He could only pick up scraps after being summoned by the Dead Demon Consuming Seal.

It was truly miserable.

”...You’re right. With the Sage of Six Paths around, it’s normal for these so-called gods to be too afraid to show their faces.”

Amado thought of his memories in the Pure Land.

He had learned from Kenichi and Orochimaru that he had forgotten many things after his revival, and he could not remember those things at all.

This showed the Sage of Six Paths’ control over the Pure Land.

That old man must have some special plans.

The Sage of Six Paths was already so powerful after death, let alone when he had still been alive.

”Speaking of which, is the Sage of Six Paths the progenitor who created the Shinobi World? Is there anyone stronger than the Sage of Six Paths?”

Kenichi appropriately brought up a topic.

He wanted to see whether there were any corresponding clues in the Shinobi World’s records.

After all, in the original Naruto anime, Kaguya’s existence had almost appeared out of nowhere.

There had been almost no prior foreshadowing.

Then she suddenly appeared, which had been heavily criticized.

Kenichi was also very curious about the legends of the Sage of Six Paths in the real Naruto world.

”It’s said that the Sage of Six Paths had a mother, but this was only mentioned in some extremely ancient myths. There are no other mentions of her afterward.”

Orochimaru naturally took out a syringe, injected some nutrient solution into Hidan, then checked Hidan’s brainwaves.

There was still no response.

Kenichi watched from the side.

He felt that Hidan’s current consciousness was brain dead.

But he wondered whether implanting a parasite could restore Hidan’s consciousness.

Although Hidan was useless, it depended on the situation, did it not?

The current Hidan still had some uses.

Kenichi wanted to try using Hidan to kill Jigen directly with Hidan’s special ninjutsu.

After all, according to Madara’s information, Jigen also bled.

As long as Jigen’s blood was obtained, Hidan might also be repurposed and put to some use.

That was better than letting Hidan remain a vegetable, right?

Thinking of this, Kenichi took out a syringe and gave Hidan an injection.

”You want to use the parasite to stimulate him?”

Orochimaru saw through Kenichi’s thoughts.

”Hmm. Hidan has mastered some very special ninjutsu, which are theoretically extremely powerful. I want to see whether they are truly that strong.”

Kenichi nodded.

He indeed planned to try and see whether Hidan could be repurposed.

In any case, judging from Orochimaru’s attitude, Orochimaru also temporarily did not want to continue experimenting on Hidan.

He might as well test it.

”Oh? What ninjutsu?”

Orochimaru became interested.

He was most interested in various ninjutsu he did not know or had not mastered.

”When I went to that small town before, I heard that Hidan could inflict the same damage on others by harming himself.”

Kenichi briefly explained, while also stating the conditions for using this ninjutsu.

The biggest limitation for using this ninjutsu was that one had to believe in Jashin.

”I see. That’s not very interesting. I can even deduce that this ninjutsu cannot be used against people whose strength exceeds that of the Evil God.”

Orochimaru lost interest.

Such a ninjutsu sounded strong at first, but it was actually just mediocre.

After all, it borrowed the power of the Evil God.

If the opponent exceeded the Evil God’s power, then the Evil God naturally could not do anything to them.

That was why Orochimaru found it meaningless.

Kenichi felt that Orochimaru’s words made sense.

But since Hidan had been written out relatively early, and Kishimoto’s settings were not fully explained, Kenichi still wanted to try.

If it worked, it would be a pleasant surprise.

”I find Hidan’s immortality very interesting. After all, we all know that energy is conserved. Hidan never dies and can regenerate quickly, so what is the source of his self-healing?”

Amado looked at Hidan in front of him as if he had discovered a treasure.

He even thought that Hidan could be developed for other uses.

However, he did not know whether Hidan would regenerate if his internal organs were removed.

If so, Hidan might become a suitable organ culture vessel.

After all, some diseases in the Shinobi World required organ replacement, which was very troublesome.

”Nutrition, I suppose. If Hidan can’t get nutrition, he’ll starve to death.”

Kenichi looked at Hidan, thinking of Hidan’s fate in the anime, buried underground.

During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Hidan was probably already starved to death.

Hidan was also an unfortunate character who had exited early and had no opportunity to appear later.

Perhaps Kishimoto did not like this character and felt that his ability was too much of a bug.

After all, if he was revived by Edo Tensei and then simply hid somewhere, waiting for others to collect blood for him to perform the ritual, how would anyone fight him?

So his exit was very normal.

Kishimoto probably did not even remember this unfortunate guy later on.
