My Infinite System.

The massive doors loomed before them like the gates of judgment itself.

They stood at the threshold, chests heaving, bodies battered and bloodied from the endless climb. Finn’s side burned from the deep gash, blood still seeping through his torn tunic. Mira leaned heavily on her staff, silver threads flickering weakly around its length. Dorian’s left arm hung useless at his side, the skin blistered and raw, but his right hand still crackled with dying embers of flame.

None of them spoke. Words felt unnecessary now. They had fought through liquid horrors, void amalgamations, crystal serpents, and the tower’s own malice. They had bled and broken and kept climbing. The door was the end of one trial and the beginning of another.

Finn reached for the handle, fingers brushing ancient wood that felt warm, almost alive.

”Together,” he said.

Mira and Dorian nodded.

The doors began to part with a low, grinding groan that vibrated through their bones.

Then the pressure hit.

It came without warning—an invisible weight so vast it drove all three of them to their knees in an instant. The air thickened until breathing became a struggle. Gravity itself seemed to double, triple, crushing them against the stone floor. Finn’s vision blurred. Mira’s staff clattered from her grip. Dorian let out a choked gasp as his injured arm twisted painfully beneath him.

A figure materialized in front of the doors.

She was not a monster. She was something far worse.

Tall and ethereal, her form shimmered between solid and translucent, as if she existed in multiple layers of reality at once. Her eyes were vast pools of swirling starlight—ancient, cold, and impossibly deep, containing eons of indifference. Long hair the color of midnight void flowed around her like living smoke. She wore robes woven from the absence of light itself, shifting patterns of erased constellations drifting across the fabric. An aura radiated from her that dwarfed anything they had ever felt from Lucian. It was not power in the raw, explosive sense. It was finality. The crushing certainty of endings.

Even the tower seemed to hold its breath.

Finn tried to push himself up. His arms trembled violently. The pressure pinned him like an insect under a god’s thumb. Beside him, Mira’s face was contorted in agony, her spirit perception overwhelmed by the being’s sheer presence. Dorian’s flames sputtered and died completely.

The woman smiled. It was a small, elegant expression that held no warmth.

”You are the students of the greatest anomaly in existence,” she said. Her voice echoed from everywhere and nowhere, layered with countless forgotten tongues. ”We were coming for you. But it seems you lot could not wait.”

She took one step forward. The floor cracked beneath her foot—not from force, but from the simple impossibility of her existence in this place.

”Well,” she continued, still smiling, ”since you have brought yourselves to me, I will not refuse the gift.”

Finn roared, forcing every ounce of his power into one final act of defiance. Space tore around him as he tried to teleport forward. Clones flickered into existence for half a second before dissolving. He poured fire, earth, air, water, time—everything—into a desperate strike.

It barely stirred the air.

Mira lashed out with every spirit thread she could summon, trying to bind the woman, to sever whatever connections anchored her. The threads shattered against the being’s aura like glass against diamond.

Dorian screamed and ignited one last, desperate inferno, channeling every drop of mana left in his body. The flames washed over the woman and vanished as if they had never existed.

The being raised her hand and snapped her fingers.

The world folded.

Finn felt himself torn away—resistance futile, power meaningless. Mira’s scream cut off mid-breath. Dorian’s final curse died in his throat. In an instant, all three vanished, pulled into nothingness.

The woman lowered her hand, still smiling faintly.

She turned toward the massive doors, which stood slightly ajar. Beyond them lay the chamber of chains.

”Lucian was supposed to die that day,” she said softly, addressing the empty space as if the tower itself could hear. ”And that ability with him. But somehow that never happened. Lucy was saved too. And the ability—Infinite Replication—became yours.”

She stepped through the doors, her presence making the chains rattle faintly.

”Evelyn and Lucian awakened something else. We are still trying to figure out precisely what it is. But until we do... you are to be confined here.”

With another casual snap of her fingers, she vanished.

The chamber behind the doors was a prison of infinite chains.

They hung from every surface—thick, black-iron links etched with glowing runes of erasure. Some pulsed with stolen energy, drawing power directly from the prisoner at the center. The room had no walls in the conventional sense; it stretched into an endless grey expanse, the chains disappearing into distant voids. The air was heavy, oppressive, filled with the constant, low rattle of metal.

At the heart of it all floated Evelyn.

She was suspended in mid-air, arms spread wide, legs bound together. Dozens of chains wrapped around her wrists, ankles, torso, and throat. Each link drained her—slow, relentless pulls of luminous energy that flowed from her body into the chains and then into the tower itself. Her silver hair hung limp, streaked with faint shadows. Her violet eyes were half-lidded, exhausted.

She had been here for what felt like eternity.

Yet when the woman’s presence faded and the chamber settled, Evelyn stirred.

Slowly. Painfully.

Her head lifted a fraction. Her lips moved, forming a single, whispered word that barely disturbed the stale air.

”Lucian...”

The chains tightened in response, draining another pulse of her power. She closed her eyes again, but the faintest smile touched her lips.

He would come.

He always did.
