Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 94: Chapter 84

”It’s already five o’clock.”

After escaping the pursuit of the Fire Cloud Lion, Lin Feng finally breathed a sigh of relief. He glanced at his watch; it was already five o’clock. The time was not early, and feeling slightly exhausted, he decided to head back.

The forest at night is far more dangerous than during the day!

Being alone, without the help of a team, Lin Feng couldn’t guarantee his safety, after all, his true strength was only at the Eighth Rank of a Body Cultivator.

On the way back, Lin Feng occasionally encountered some adventurer teams. They curiously eyed Lin Feng, their gazes pausing slightly on his large backpack. Some were calm, while others showed a hint of greed, but reason prevailed and none made a move.

Daring to venture into the central area of the forest alone, and as an archer no less, even though Lin Feng had suffered some injuries, his limbs were still intact, which was enough to prove his strength.

Moreover, greedy adventurers were a minority. Most were still righteous at heart, though there were some senseless ones. One three-person team, seeing Lin Feng alone, attempted to extort him, but after Lin Feng shot an arrow through one of their members’ thighs, the other two instantly became obedient.

Such a formidable archer!

They truly couldn’t afford to mess with him!

While Lin Feng spared their lives, he took all their valuables.

It was only because he sensed no murderous intent from them, just a simple extortion, that he showed mercy.

If they had been hunters aiming to kill adventurers for profit, the kind of scum he loathed, if Lin Feng had found them, he would have aimed straight for the heart.

”Huh?”

Returning the way he came, as Lin Feng was about to pass by a pool, amidst the thunderous sound of the waterfall, he faintly heard the sound of fighting and cries. Those cries were sharp, somewhat familiar, as if they were from Xie Bing’s team, specifically the voice of Xie Lingling.

”No sound of Demon Beasts, they’re fighting humans. Why haven’t they left yet?”

Lin Feng frowned. Over an hour had passed since they parted ways. Logically, Xie Bing should have left the forest long ago. Why were they back at the pool?

Why were they now fighting people?

A bad premonition arose, and Lin Feng dashed towards the pool like a cheetah!

As he neared the pool, Lin Feng smelled a faint scent of blood.

Lin Feng halted, hiding behind a large tree, and peered out. At the edge of the pool, Xie Bing and the others were covered in wounds, their clothes already stained red with blood.

They stood back to back. Surrounding them, four men wearing pitch-black masks continuously attacked. On the grass, in addition to the original dismembered limbs, there were three more corpses.

Two of the corpses were a man and a woman, around the same age as Xie Bing and the others, with blood holes in their left chests. Lin Feng didn’t recognize these two, but the last one he knew well—it was Wen, the Thief who had refined the Demon Spirit of a Long-nosed Beast.

Now, Wen lay motionless on the ground, his eyes protruding, filled with blood. His neck had a gaping, bloody wound the size of a fist, with dark red blood continuously flowing out; he was clearly dead.

”There’s an archer!”

Though Lin Feng didn’t see the arrows, as an archer himself, those wounds couldn’t be more familiar.

The four men in the battlefield weren’t using bows, obviously suggesting there was at least one archer lurking in the shadows.

”Die!”

Xie Bing shouted in fury, having refined the Fourth Grade Wind Fox, he was in Demon Transformation state.

His cheeks sunken and narrowed, pupils turned golden, a multitude of fine yellow hair appeared on his small face, along with furry triangular ears and a yellow tail. His left hand emanated a faint cyan light, with cyan Wind Blades appearing, shooting towards the masked men and exploding mid-air.

Triple Shot!

This was the first skill of Xie Bing’s Wind Fox!

But unfortunately, the four masked men were prepared. Before Xie Bing lifted his left hand, they swiftly retreated. They were not in a hurry to attack, as if deliberately exhausting Xie Bing’s group’s strength and Soul Power, awaiting the best opportunity.

”Captain, what do we do?”

At this time, Lin Xuan was also in Demon Transformation state, anxiously asking.

Having refined the Third Grade Heavy Armored Rhinoceros, Lin Xuan now resembled a giant, his entire body covered in gray knobby muscles. The muscles on his arms and thighs moved like pythons. He held a huge shield, carefully protecting the group, his eyes cautiously looking into the distance, glimmering with fear.

”Captain, I don’t want to die!”

Xie Lingling looked at Wen lying in a pool of blood, her body trembling slightly. Holding an exquisitely crafted longsword, she felt weak all over, unable to help collapsing to the ground.

She knew she had no strength left.

”Hold on, an adventurer team will soon pass by!”

Xie Bing’s voice was somewhat hoarse; he was, in fact, despairing too, never so regretful.

Previously, Feng Lin had already warned them that they couldn’t handle this situation!

They had already left the pool, and having gained something, they were ready to leave the forest.

But on the way back, they encountered a man and a woman, the two lying in blood. They were sophomores at Yunwu University, looking for classmates, a five-person team.

Based on their description and the direction they were going, Xie Bing and the others judged that it was likely the five people at the pool. His moment of kindness resulted in the deaths of classmates, and now even they might die!

He was very regretful, truly regretful.

If possible, he wouldn’t have meddled. Even if he wanted to, he wouldn’t have done so recklessly.

Self-blame and regret seemed to consume him, his exhausted Soul Power made him exit the Demon Transformation state.

”Are we going to die?”

Seeing Xie Bing exit Demon Transformation, Xie Lingling’s face went pale. With a clang, her weapon fell to the ground, she had clearly given up resistance.

Their strength was originally inferior to the four before them, besides, there was a powerful archer hidden away, they had no hope of escaping!

”Hold on!”

Lin Xuan continued to push his Soul Power beyond limits, holding his shield, seemingly self-hypnotizing, stubbornly holding on.

”Heh, they can’t hold on anymore!”

Someone laughed mockingly, the voice carrying cold cruelty.

”Where are they?”

Lin Feng hid behind the large tree, his eyes swiftly scanning, but he couldn’t find the archer’s location.

If Assassins are the elves of the night, then archers hidden in the shadows are even more terrifying than Assassins.

Assassins are close-range killers; they need to be near their target to attack.

But archers can take the enemy’s head from miles away; compared to Assassins, an archer is more threatening, because you never know when they will attack, from what angle, or which part of your body they are targeting.

Lin Feng held his war bow, arrow always nocked on the string, waiting, quietly waiting.

Though he had confidence in shooting down the four masked men, without knowing the archer’s location or how many there were, if he acted rashly, even he might end up in danger.

As Lin Feng searched, two hundred meters away, on a lush tree branch, a middle-aged man held a longbow in his left hand, gripping an arrow in his right, nocking it on the string, maintaining a constant state of readiness just like Lin Feng, his eyes coldly watched Xie Bing and the others.

The moment Xie Bing exited his Demon Transformation state, the man raised his war bow, drawing it full, the pitch-black arrow surrounded with a faint white glow, transforming into a sharp beam shooting out with a chilling sound, covering the hundred meters in an instant.
