Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 80: Chapter 72: Yun Kai’s Transformation

”Let’s go, let’s chat together,” Lin Feng stood up and said to Yun Kai.

”Hmm!” Yun Kai quickly nodded in agreement.

Although he didn’t know what they would talk about, he cherished this rare friendship.

Yun Kai could feel that after Lin Feng and the others shook hands with him, the originally disdainful and mocking gazes directed at him had greatly diminished. Even those that hadn’t disappeared were not as unrestrained and blatant as before.

In front of Lin Feng, no one dared to directly mock or discuss him.

Even the boy with the crew cut, whom Lin Feng had slapped and knocked out, had woken up. The pain in his mouth, blood on the ground, and scattered teeth left his eyes filled with fear and hatred. But upon seeing Lin Feng shake hands with Yun Kai, he pretended to pass out again, not daring to harbor any thoughts of revenge.

Yun Kai, hunched over, followed behind Lin Feng without saying a word. Although Lin Feng showed kindness, his inferiority and fear had deeply settled into his soul; changing would not be a quick matter.

Rooftop.

Lin Feng casually found a shaded place to sit. Yang Fan and Gao Hai sat beside him on either side, while Yun Kai hesitated, standing still, until Lin Feng pointed to the spot in front of him, prompting Yun Kai to slowly sit down.

”Yun Kai, lift your head up.”

Lin Feng looked at the tall figure who kept his head down from the beginning to the end and said in a somewhat stern tone.

Whether it was due to Lin Feng’s serious tone or Yun Kai’s habit of never meeting someone eye-to-eye, hearing Lin Feng’s request made him tremble all over, his heart pounding, wholly unable to lift his head.

Yun Kai’s body trembled, yet slowly, his head lifted bit by bit, although his gaze avoided direct contact with Lin Feng.

Because Yun Kai always kept his head down, this was the first time Lin Feng looked so closely at Yun Kai’s face.

Despite being very thin, Yun Kai had a large head, covered in yellowish facial hair, with a rather wide face, and cheeks showing signs of malnutrition with a dark yellow tint. His nasal bone was thick and long, and his nose was dark-colored. His ears were semicircular, and his brown pupils gave the initial impression of having undergone Demon Spirit Transformation after refining a Lion Series Demon Spirit.

Lin Feng’s gaze made Yun Kai uneasy. Despite the hot weather and sweating all over, goosebumps stood up on his skin.

Self-loathing and habits made him want to lower his head, but Lin Feng’s next words froze him in place.

”Do you know? I really envy you.”

Envy?

Lin Feng envied him?

Yun Kai felt as though he had been struck by lightning on a clear day, unable to believe his ears.

”You...”

From Lin Feng’s eyes, he couldn’t see a hint of mockery or ridicule. Turning his head, Yang Fan and Gao Hai’s eyes held undisguised envy.

That explained why their eyes seemed strange before.

But what were they envious of?

As a half-beastman, from birth, he was loathed by his clan members and relatives. Even though he was only a high school senior, his Body Cultivator strength was only Third Rank, not qualifying him to participate in Awakening Day. What qualifications did he have to be envied?

Could they envy his identity?

Besides this, he couldn’t think of anything else.

Yes, the Yun Race was established by an Extraordinary, a prominent family. Although the Extraordinary Ancestors had died, causing the family to decline over the years, in Jiang City, no one dared to easily provoke them.

”Is Lin Feng associating with me because of the Yun Race? Unfortunately, he doesn’t know that I’m actually the disgrace of the race, and my clan does not acknowledge my existence.”

Yun Kai felt a bit bitter inside.

This hard-earned friendship turned out to be due to this reason.

Perhaps, he was never destined to have friends in his lifetime.

”Yun Kai, you don’t need to feel inferior about your appearance. Do you know what an honor it is?” Lin Feng asked.

Yun Kai suddenly lifted his head, looking bewildered.

Things seemed different from what he had imagined?

Lin Feng said the appearance that made him feel inferior and wish for death was actually an honor?

”What do you mean?” Yun Kai’s voice trembled.

”Do you know what Ancestral Demonization is!”

Lin Feng’s tone carried a hint of admiration at this moment: ”The physical anomalies you’ve experienced since childhood are not illnesses or genetic mutations but a phenomenon known as Ancestral Demonization. It’s an inherited gift only descendants of Extraordinary Powerhouses can possess. This kind of probability is one in a million, and you are the lucky one who inherited the bloodline talent from your Extraordinary ancestors. Such a talent is rare in the world, and even I envy it!”

With Lin Feng’s explanation, Yun Kai gradually transitioned from disbelief to shock, then to ecstasy, and finally entered a state of perplexity. He couldn’t imagine that the pain he endured over the years was actually the result of inheriting the talent of Extraordinary Ancestors!

So this was the honor Lin Feng spoke of!

And this kind of ancestral extraordinary glory, yet regarded as a shame by the clansmen, is truly pathetic and laughable.

Yun Kai kept murmuring, ”Ancestral Demonization? Ancestral Demonization? Ancestral...”

After a long while, he finally came to his senses, his heart beating so fast as if it was about to jump out of his body.

Since Lin Feng knows about Ancestral Demonization, he’s bound to have a solution; otherwise, he wouldn’t have that expression.

Yun Kai looked at Lin Feng with both anticipation and fear, uneasily asking, ”You... you know?”

Yun Kai’s speech was a bit stammering; Lin Feng brought a glimmer of light to his once dark life, and he feared this light would vanish, which would be worse for him than never having seen the light.

”Yes, I happen to know how Ancestral Demonization awakens!”

The undeniable tension and fear on Yun Kai’s face made Lin Feng feel a bit sad; he firmly nodded, saying to him, ”Once you awaken your talent, your appearance can be restored. But I don’t think you need to care about it because it’s truly an honor for you!”

Hearing Lin Feng’s words, Yun Kai clenched his fists, tears welling up, his mind in turmoil, as if he was going insane, crying and laughing simultaneously, even letting out beast-like painful howls, as if in a state of frenzy. Lin Feng and the other two quietly watched him without interrupting.

After ten minutes, Yun Kai’s chest heaved rapidly, taking deep breath after deep breath, gradually calming his emotions.

”As long as you help me awaken my talent, I’m willing to pay any price,” Yun Kai said firmly, staring at Lin Feng with determination.

He didn’t know why Lin Feng knew about Ancestral Demonization. Even the Yun Race of the Extraordinary Clan didn’t know. How could a high school senior, only sixteen years old, know and even awaken it?

The special experiences since childhood, although bringing Yun Kai excruciating pain, also granted him a deeper understanding of human nature. Even his parents gradually shunned him because of his appearance. The world is so realistic, and Lin Feng suddenly appeared and expressed kindness to him, surely with an ulterior motive.

Lin Feng looked at Yun Kai, this insecure and timid teenager remained alert and vigilant towards the world at all times. From those eyes resembling beastly pupils, Lin Feng noticed a hint of hatred hidden deep within the soul.

It wasn’t aimed at him!

But at this world.

As if hating this world.

Lin Feng didn’t know what this change would bring to Yun Kai, who leaped from detested and despised half-beastman to an extraordinary genius inheriting the talent of an Extraordinary Powerhouse’s demon spirit.

”No need, although your talent makes even me a bit envious, your price means nothing to me.”

Faced with Yun Kai’s somewhat suspicious gaze, Lin Feng shook his head, saying, ”I told you this just because I think you are a bit pitiable, a genius of Ancestral Demonization detested and shunned by all.”

After saying that, under Yun Kai’s eyes of surprise and gratitude, Lin Feng continued, ”Your extraordinary ancestor must have been a Demon Spirit Master. Judging by your appearance, I speculate he refined a Lion Series demon spirit, at least Ninth Grade or above, possibly even an Earth Chart demon spirit. Because reaching the level of an Extraordinary Powerhouse, the energy of such a demon spirit has already merged into his bloodline.”

”Logically, as long as the ancestor is an extraordinary demon spirit master, this special talent could be inherited by descendants, though the probability is small, extremely rare and precious!”

”The mutation in your body is precisely the power within your bloodline gradually altering your physique. However, since you cannot supply the energy your body needs, you are getting thinner, and your cultivation speed is slowing down!”

Saying this, Lin Feng sighed a bit.

The awakening method of Ancestral Demonization is actually very simple, mainly requiring a large supply of energy in the early stages.

No one discovered this for so long mainly because Ancestral Demonization is rare, and those who appear are rejected by their clans. Coupled with slow cultivation speed and mediocre aptitude, families ignorant of the truth would not waste resources on them, hence why it took so long to be discovered.

”You can’t refine a demon spirit not because your talent is inadequate, but because you inherited the talent of an Extraordinary Powerhouse. Your ancestor refined a Lion Series demon spirit, you inherited his bloodline talent, so you can only refine Lion Series demon spirits!”

”And this awakening method is very straightforward: supplement Qi and blood, one Qi and Blood Pill daily to meet the body’s needs, then refine a Lion Series demon spirit, the higher the grade, the better.”

”Go ask your family what demon spirit your extraordinary ancestor refined. If you can find the demon spirit species refined by the Extraordinary Ancestor, your bloodline talent will be maximized.”

After saying this, Lin Feng got up and patted his backside, preparing to leave.

Gao Hai and Yang Fan followed suit, though before leaving, they couldn’t help but glance at Yun Kai.

Such a lucky individual inheriting ancestral talents truly inspires envy and jealousy.

Watching Lin Feng and the other two gradually disappear from sight, Yun Kai still found it hard to believe.

For Yun Kai, his world was once dark, and now the appearance of Lin Feng brought him hopeful light.

For this, he was willing to pay any price, even his freedom!

Yet Lin Feng, after telling him the answer, just left like that?

No demands on him at all!

”Thank you!”

At that moment, long-lost gratitude surged from the bottom of Yun Kai’s heart, enveloping him. His full-chested words boiled down to just two: thank you.

He shouted hoarsely, regardless of whether Lin Feng could hear it.

Yun Kai’s eyes were red, and he tightly closed his lips, telling himself from this moment onwards, he couldn’t cry anymore. Like a child, he tried to swallow down the sobs, yet he couldn’t control the tears streaming down his cheeks.

Yun Kai slowly stood up, his once bent back never straighter. He wiped away the tears, with his former insecure and timid look gradually disappearing, replaced by confidence and pride.
