Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 76: Chapter 69: Waving One’s Sleeve

”I want to ask, how much is a top scorer in the college entrance examination worth?”

When Lin Feng asked this question, the class teacher Old Ji was obviously taken aback, seemingly a bit confused.

”What?”

Old Ji showed a puzzled expression, hesitating a bit as he asked.

The Qi and Blood Pill he gave Lin Feng was a school subsidy, aimed at helping Lin Feng get accepted into the Three Heroic Academies, so why was the idea of being a top scorer even brought up?

”I am confident I can become the top scorer in the college entrance examination. How much would the school leaders be willing to pay?” Lin Feng said.

Old Ji understood this time, but he couldn’t believe it. The current college entrance examination rules are completely different from those before the resurgence of Spiritual Qi.

In the past, the college entrance examination assessed exam papers.

The exam papers were divided into National I, National II, and National III papers. In addition, some provinces and cities had their own questions.

At the same time, candidates were divided into arts and science streams, resulting in dozens of top scorers.

But now, the written exam nationwide is unified, with the same tests for physique and practical skills, meaning there’s only one top scorer nationwide, making the value naturally different.

Statistics show that nearly 15 million candidates take the college entrance examination each year.

For 15 million people to compete for first place, one can imagine the difficulty.

In the past, the difficulty of the college entrance examination was likened to a carp leaping over the dragon gate, while now the top scorer should be more accurately described as a carp competing for the Dragon King.

No one in Jiang City has earned the title of top scorer in the college entrance examination for the past ten years, even second and third place rankings have been rare.

”You are confident you can become the top scorer in the college entrance examination?”

Old Ji’s tone carried a hint of sarcasm, not hiding his skepticism.

Even for Ye Qiu, ranked nineteenth in the Glory Rookie List and considered the top potential among high school students, entering the top hundred nationwide was a challenge, let alone becoming the top scorer.

Strength determines the examination score.

However, the strongest doesn’t necessarily become the top scorer. This might seem illogical, but the reasoning is simple.

In Jiang City, every year, more than a dozen candidates reach the First Grade Martial Artist realm before facing the examination.

Candidates at the Martial Artist level naturally score higher in physique but not necessarily in practical skills. Many First Grade Martial Artists score lower than those in the Body Cultivation Realm in practical skills, which is not uncommon.

Additionally, there is a 200-point written exam score in the college entrance examination.

Many strong candidates have average written scores, and for the top scorer, sometimes it comes down to a single point.

The college entrance examination score is divided into three parts, totaling 750 points.

Part one: Cultural Knowledge - 200 points.

Part two: Physique - 350 points.

Part three: Practical Skills - 200 points.

If the candidates’ scores don’t meet the admission requirements set by universities, additional points can help, like refining a Demon Spirit to become a Demon Spirit Master. If these additional points reach the admission threshold, they can enter those universities.

However, extra points from demon spirits do not count toward the total exam score.

But when candidates score the same, the grade of their demon spirit is compared.

Lin Feng has not refined a demon spirit, so to become the top scorer, his score must be an indisputable first place.

”Before the examination, I am confident of reaching the First Grade Martial Artist level. With my combat power, achieving full marks in the practical test is not difficult, which means I will become the top scorer as long as nothing goes wrong,” Lin Feng analyzed.

Lin Feng only spoke this way because he was confident.

After Lin Feng finished, Old Ji instinctively wanted to refute but seemed unable to find a reason for it.

Could it be?

Perhaps it’s possible?

Last year, the top scorer in the national college entrance examination was named Zheng Zhi, a student from Shangjing Second Middle School, with a score of 715.

His exam results were: written score 195, physique score 339, practical score 181, total 715 points.

For most students, practical scores are the main areas where points are deducted.

But Lin Feng’s combat strength is undoubted. Being able to defeat a First Grade Martial Artist head-on makes it not difficult for Lin Feng to achieve full marks in practical skills.

Before coming, Old Ji had just reviewed Lin Feng’s simulation results from the previous month.

Lin Feng’s cultural score is 189. If he achieves full marks in practical skills, that gives him 389 points total. This means that if Lin Feng can reach the First Grade Martial Artist level before the examination and achieve more than 326 points in physique, becoming the top scorer is almost a certainty.

Advancing from the Eighth Rank in Body Cultivation to a First Grade Martial Artist in over two months is extremely challenging, but Lin Feng has already reached the 21st move in the Thirty-Six Body Refining Techniques. With substantial resources for support, it’s not impossible!

That is to say, Lin Feng indeed has a chance of becoming this year’s top scorer in the college entrance examination.

Will I be the class teacher of the top scorer?

One spot in the Three Heroic Academies, with the school rewarding him fifty thousand, but how much for the national top scorer?

At least five hundred thousand, right? ”

Thinking of this, Old Ji couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement.

And these rewards are just small money; every year, Jiang City leaders attach great importance to the college entrance examination.

For a school, student performance in the college entrance exam relates to the allocation of resources worth tens of billions each year and the reassignment of school leadership positions.

For school leaders, student performance is linked to their future prospects, so every year’s entrance exam is extremely important.

Unquestionably, due to Ye Qiu, First Middle School is the top choice for all student parents.

If Jiangxin Middle School could secure the top scorer this time, the title of the top school in Jiang City might change hands.

Securing the top scorer for Jiang City would allow the city to shine on the national stage.

By then, if the city leaders are pleased, next year’s resource allocation and teacher rewards, if not doubled, would far exceed previous years.

And that would be a difference of billions, or even tens of billions.

Thinking about this, Old Ji contained his excitement. But soon, he realized that Lin Feng wasn’t offering the top scorer’s title for free, but rather selling it?

Old Ji felt somewhat troubled.

Such a situation has no precedent, and the school leaders wouldn’t agree.

”Lin Feng, you are a student nurtured by the school. Isn’t it natural for you to bring glory to the school?” Old Ji questioned with righteousness and a serious tone.

But quickly, he regretted it.

Although Lin Feng didn’t refute, he looked at him as if he were looking at an idiot.

Under that gaze, Old Ji felt somewhat awkward.

As a class teacher, Old Ji wanted to instill a sense of collective honor in Lin Feng to make him selflessly contribute, but didn’t he realize that if Lin Feng had no value, would the school provide subsidies?

The school only cares about geniuses and has never paid attention to students like Lin Feng.

If he were an average student, there might be some hesitation, but Lin Feng is a sharp character who dares to charge an 18 million advertising fee just for painting a frame on his clothes.

Old Ji thought, if he returned to his student days and were capable of achieving the top scorer, he wouldn’t hand it over for free either.

”Then how much do you want?” Old Ji asked.

”That depends on what you all think the top scorer is worth. If it’s worthless, I’ll ask other schools,” Lin Feng said.

Old Ji gave Lin Feng a deep look but said no more, as the specific amount wasn’t something a mere class teacher could decide.

This Lin Feng, though young, still a high school student, behaved maturely and couldn’t be easily fooled.

He didn’t doubt that if the school couldn’t afford Lin Feng’s price, this boy, who dared to refuse the Three Great Clubs, would likely turn and leave without a trace of reluctance.
