Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 70: Chapter 64: Nightmare Refinement

Three o’clock in the afternoon, the next day.

The bathroom was filled with misty steam.

By the window, a luxurious intelligent bathtub with a diameter of a full 1.8 meters was filled with warm red liquid.

Dragon eye-sized, dark red pills were tossed into the bathtub by Lin Feng. The pills dissolved and spread in the warm water, releasing a strong, sweet and metallic scent. Twenty Qi and Blood Pills, each worth a hundred thousand New Coins, were all thrown in at once by Lin Feng.

Looking at the two-million-value medicinal bath in front of him, Lin Feng couldn’t help but sigh. He had never been so extravagant before.

Such rich Qi and Blood could easily burst a Third Grade Martial Artist.

”It’s time to start. Are you ready?” Lin Feng’s gaze was somewhat serious as he mumbled to himself.

The empty bathroom had only him, naturally, no one answered.

At this time, Old Ma was at work, his sister was at school, Lin Fang and Lin Kerou had quit their jobs, but since a lot of things in the Shore District hadn’t been moved over, they went to move the stuff and wouldn’t be back for a while.

The house had only Lin Feng, everything was ready, but Lin Feng was still adjusting, adjusting his physical state and emotions.

Even though the steps for refining the Nightmare and the potential dangers during the process had been rehearsed in his mind many times, at this moment, facing the possible threat of death and the monstrous form after refining the Nightmare, his heart couldn’t stay calm.

”Fortune favors the bold!”

As if encouraging himself, after speaking, Lin Feng directly took off his shirt, standing in front of the mirror.

His bare torso had perfect muscle lines, smooth like a cheetah, and on Lin Feng’s chest, within a cage formed by blood, a fist-sized, jet-black shadow was in a deep slumber. The ghostly shadow’s limbs were pierced by four red chains, fixed at the four corners of the cage.

At this moment, the Nightmare was much quieter compared to its usual brutality and madness.

Perhaps this was its sleeping time.

This thought flashed through Lin Feng’s mind, and then he stepped into the bathtub, sitting cross-legged, eyes closed, meditating until his mood completely calmed. He suddenly snapped his eyes open, his hands rapidly changing hand seals on his chest.

With the changes in hand seals, dense Qi and Blood began to spread from his legs, attaching all over Lin Feng’s body, forming a web-like layer of red, slowly seeping into his muscles and bones.

In the bathtub, the originally red liquid gradually faded, becoming lighter and lighter.

”Roar!”

Just as the Qi and Blood began to seep into Lin Feng’s body, the once dormant Nightmare shuddered slightly, and the four chains shook fiercely, with the Nightmare letting out a roar of anger and madness.

In an instant, the Nightmare realized the nearing danger, starting to riot, struggling desperately.

The Nightmare continuously slammed against the cage, uttering evil and violent roars.

Inside Lin Feng, the cage formed of blood began to shake violently, even cracking, with one blood-red chain torn apart simultaneously. The Nightmare’s ethereal body dimmed slightly. Clearly, the Nightmare was injured, but it recklessly began to fight desperately.

At the Nightmare’s head position, two pitch-black vortices spun continuously, emitting intense spiritual vibrations.

Meanwhile, a sharp and wicked spiritual vibration suddenly struck Lin Feng’s soul.

Lin Feng trembled as if struck by lightning, looking pained, a trace of blood seeping from the corner of his mouth, yet he didn’t stop the hand seals, instead, accelerating them.

”Sealing Evil Seal!”

Silently chanting in his heart, as the hand seals were performed, the blood within Lin Feng became increasingly hot, seeming to boil.

At this instant, Lin Feng seemed immersed in lava, roasted by blazing flames. His previously fair skin rapidly turned scorching red, beginning to crack, revealing terrifying flesh.

The deadly pain left Lin Feng’s already pale face devoid of color, his entire body trembled uncontrollably.

If he were an ordinary person, facing such pain, he would have collapsed. In this state, one’s spiritual power couldn’t focus, let alone control the body.

However, Lin Feng, relying on strong willpower, despite his trembling body, his hand seals didn’t waver at all. Meanwhile, massive Qi and Blood gathered at his chest, condensing into red chains, piercing through the Nightmare.

”Roar!”

The Nightmare let out a painful howl, becoming increasingly violent, but facing the endlessly emerging blood-red chains, it was powerless, moments later, its shadowy body was pierced by eighty-one chains. The previously jet-black and deep appearance had turned blood-red, exuding an evil and eerie aura.

At the moment the Nightmare was controlled, Lin Feng quickly grabbed a bag from the shelf beside him.

The bag contained the Soul Nourishing Pills he had prepared in advance. Fifty grayish-white Soul Nourishing Pills were piled together, emitting a peculiar fragrance, which slightly invigorated Lin Feng, with the heat in his body seemingly dissipating somewhat.

Lin Feng grabbed a handful, not bothering about the quantity, stuffing them directly into his mouth, swallowing like candy.

Simultaneously, Lin Feng began to change hand seals.

The Soul Power from the Soul Nourishing Pills was being controlled by Lin Feng, continually washing over the Nightmare pierced by chains. Gradually, the Nightmare’s legs, originally blood-red, began darkening to a dark red color.

This change was very slow.

If it were Lin Feng’s original Soul Power, it wouldn’t have been enough to support him in refining the Nightmare, much less, Lin Feng was already spiritually exhausted. Fortunately, he had a large number of Soul Nourishing Pills, allowing him to refine the Nightmare while consuming them.

Thankfully, the Nightmare was bound by the Sealing Evil Seal, unable to escape; otherwise, Lin Feng couldn’t have refined it bit by bit—either he would fail or suffer backlash.

The Nightmare’s will was very strong, even pierced by 81 chains forged of Blood Qi, it continued to resist, but this resistance was futile, no matter how it howled and struggled, it was to no avail.

Half an hour later, except for the head, the entire body of the Nightmare was dyed dark red.

Even though success seemed close, Lin Feng didn’t relax in the slightest, on the contrary, he became more cautious because he knew that this Nightmare, ranked seventh on the Exotic Beast Chart and known as the Evil Spirit, would not be refined so easily.

The backlash from the last Awakening Day’s Demon Spirit was still vivid in his memory.

”Strange?”

Ten minutes later, when the Nightmare’s entire body was dyed dark red and its resistance vanished, a magical connection emerged between them, which, besides being surprised, made Lin Feng slightly suspicious.

Succeeded?

No backlash?

Lin Feng found it hard to believe.

This refinement process, though the process of refining the Demon Spirit was painful, was unexpectedly smooth.

Indeed, having spent 1.2 million on refining the Nightmare, the Nightmare pierced entirely by blood-red chains had no capacity to resist. At this moment, Lin Feng didn’t notice that in the last ten minutes, the Nightmare had stopped struggling as if accepting its fate, with its vortex-like pupils emitting an eerie light.

At this point, the Nightmare was entirely dark red, even the vortex-shaped pupils had been dyed red.

The red shadow appeared somewhat bizarre.

At first glance, none could recognize what kind of Demon Spirit it was.

Sensing the Nightmare’s existence, Lin Feng felt as if he had gained another body, a body he could control at will, yet seemed to have its own independent thought, a feeling both wondrous yet dangerous.
