Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 91: Chapter 81: Immune to All Poisons

Lin Feng came to the Otherworld, mainly because of the Nightmare.

His daily worry now is to provide a large amount of food for the Nightmare.

The Soul Nourishing Pill is too expensive. At this stage, it’s still affordable, but as the Nightmare advances, it’s imaginable that the cost will be enormous.

Moreover, relying on the Soul Nourishing Pill in the long term is not a solution. All medicines have some poison, and overconsumption can lead to mental issues.

Therefore, directly absorbing Demon Spirits is the solution.

”Eh?”

Just as the Unihorn Pig Demon Spirit entered his body, Lin Feng let out a light sound of surprise.

He could feel that the Unihorn Pig Demon Spirit, which was struggling violently, was instantly immobilized, as if frozen by a Body Fixing Technique, trembling slightly but dared not make any movements.

When a Martial Artist refines a Demon Spirit or a Demon Spirit Master absorbs one, they usually face strong resistance and even counterattacks. Although the Unihorn Pig is only a First Grade Demon Beast, it still possesses animal instincts, yet now, it seems to be facing a predator, allowing the Nightmare to appear before it without moving.

Though the Demon Spirit couldn’t speak, Lin Feng could clearly sense a fear emanating from the Unihorn Pig Demon Spirit.

In the face of being devoured by the Nightmare, it did not dare to resist.

”Roar!”

Seemingly aware of Lin Feng’s gaze, the Nightmare, after consuming its meal, let out a roar filled with malice and murderous intent as its pupils spun slightly.

”Why is the body still red?”

The Nightmare’s murderous intent did not surprise Lin Feng; what puzzled him was that its body had not returned to normal, still in a blood-red state.

The red Nightmare looked even more sinister and bloodthirsty compared to a black one.

”I wonder if this change is good or bad!”

Lin Feng felt uneasy.

The change in the Nightmare was obviously a side effect of the Sealing Evil Seal.

Will this change recover?

”I don’t know what attribute the Nightmare has. It’s not a Dark Attribute, so is it purely a soul-based Demon Spirit? Does that mean its food can be any Demon Spirit without worrying about attribute conflict?”

”It should be so. Apart from its soul power growing stronger, there are no other changes after devouring the Unihorn Pig Demon Spirit.”

Lin Feng observed the changes in the Nightmare.

”Is my immunity to poison due to the Nightmare?” At this point, a thought flashed in Lin Feng’s mind.

He had been in the Otherworld for two hours; every one of the five people from Xie Bing’s team had been attacked by poisonous snakes and insects multiple times, except for him.

Additionally, Lin Feng noticed that all poisons would quickly flee within a meter’s radius of him, as if seeing something terrifying.

After much effort, Lin Feng used his speed to catch a Black Line Serpent desperately trying to escape.

What shocked Lin Feng was that the Black Line Serpent in his hand was frightened motionless, as if encountering a predator.

Originally, Lin Feng was pinching its head, worried about being bitten, but the Black Line Serpent did not dare to move at all, let alone think about biting Lin Feng.

Immune to all poisons?

Could it be that I am now immune to all poisons?

Lin Feng was delighted yet uneasy.

In the Otherworld, the most terrifying Demon Beasts were the Poison Series, as nine out of ten Martial Artists would say. Yet, he happened to be immune to all poisons, undoubtedly a rare and powerful talent.

Unable to figure it out, Lin Feng didn’t dwell too much. As the team ventured deeper, Senhai began to truly display the majestic scenery of a primeval forest.

With a giant roar, Lin Feng and the others arrived at a pool.

At the edge of the pool, a cliff rose steeply with a massive waterfall over a hundred meters high, rushing down the mountain edge like an eagle, its sound like thunder. The wind blew misty water, creating a vibrant rainbow under the sunlight.

”Turtle Shell Frog!”

Lin Feng looked at a spot about a hundred meters away. At the pool’s edge, three Demon Beasts, entirely dark green, resembling oversized frogs over a meter tall with shells as hard as turtles’ backs, were drinking. Several antlered deer were cautiously watching them.

In the air, dozens of Winged Beasts of various colors circled above the pool, occasionally letting out cries. The mist steamed, and occasionally, Fish Demons with shimmering colorful scales leaped out of the pool. The scene was picturesque, fit for a desktop wallpaper, provided the angle was just right.

Because not far from the Turtle Shell Frog, a gruesome and disgusting sight appeared before everyone’s eyes.

Five mangled bodies lay scattered in pools of blood. In the hot weather, the bodies hadn’t yet decayed or rotted, indicating they died not long ago. These bodies were not only disfigured but also severely bitten, with hardly any intact parts left. Beyond frightening, they were downright nauseating.

”The weapons and bags have been taken!”

Wen spoke in a heavy tone, his face somewhat pale.

Though it wasn’t his first adventure in another world, and he had seen dead bodies before, such a bloody scene, such a strong visual impact, coupled with his enhanced sense of smell as a Demon Spirit Master who refined a Long-nosed Beast spirit, the intense smell of blood and nausea made his Adam’s apple move, unable to resist the urge to vomit.

The only girl in the team, Zhang Lingling, was startled and quickly turned around, not daring to look any more.

”Judging by the wounds, it’s very possible they were killed by a Demon Beast and then scavenged by another team!”

Wen forced himself to resist the nausea and analyzed.

Because there were also two Demon Beast carcasses beside the five corpses.

”I’ll take a look.”

Although Xie Bing’s face was somewhat pale, he was still able to remain calm.

He walked over to the corpses and began to examine the wounds, but he couldn’t discern much, then he went to the Demon Beast remnants, observed for a moment, and said, ”Two First Grade Gray Iron Crocodiles couldn’t possibly take down a five-person team, they also wouldn’t foolishly approach the water hole.”

”There must be more than two Gray Iron Crocodiles, the others might have retreated to the water,” another martial artist in the team had a different opinion.

Xie Bing did not rebut, recognizing the possibility.

”Feng Lin, what do you think?”

Xie Bing inquired of Lin Feng, a hint of surprise in his eyes.

Because throughout, Lin Feng remained very composed, as if the bloody scene was something he had seen often, and his familiarity along the journey made Xie Bing suspect that Lin Feng might have spent many years in the Senhai.

”They were killed by people!” Lin Feng asserted, without needing to approach closely to observe.

”How can you be so sure?”

Xie Lingling walked over at this time, somewhat shocked.

In another world, battles over creatures and territory were common; they’d encountered it many times.

Those people were usually composed of older, more experienced adventurer teams, and no matter how angry they got when overpowered, they would rationally choose to retreat. The other party would let them leave without resorting to lethal measures.

”No way, the adventurer teams in the Senhai are all First Grade Martial Artists, the difference in strength isn’t that large, no one would choose mutual destruction. Moreover, First Grade Demon Spirits aren’t rare enough to warrant this.”

Wen also couldn’t believe it; his reasoning made sense, and Xie Bing and the others nodded slightly, although they didn’t notice some details.

Some very simple details.

”They hadn’t undergone Demon Transformation!” Lin Feng explained succinctly.

Xie Bing and the others quickly realized, their faces turning pale.

Indeed, these bodies hadn’t undergone Demon Transformation.

Demon Spirit Masters were rare, but a five-person adventurer team daring enough to venture into another world should have at least one or two Demon Spirit Masters.

And if a Demon Spirit Master died during Demon Transformation, their body would remain in that transformed state after death.

”Maybe they’re all martial artists?” Xie Lingling still couldn’t believe it, or perhaps chose not to.

”Their identity cards are missing!” Lin Feng continued.

Xie Bing quickly checked around the bodies, finding no identity cards.

To enter another world, identity verification is mandatory, so while scavenging for weapons and supplies, it’s unlikely they also took the identity cards, which hold no value and could reveal their identities.

”Those damned bastards!”

Xie Bing cursed harshly, already convinced of Lin Feng’s assertion.

He was just reluctant to accept it, as it was too cruel.

”Why would they do this?” Wen asked, somewhat bewildered.

”There are many reasons to kill someone, like for loot; although they’re First Grade martial artists, how can you be sure they weren’t carrying valuable items? Revenge, trivial disputes, or just because they disliked them.”

Lin Feng said, in another world without legal constraints, anything could happen.

Seeing everyone convinced, Lin Feng had no further intention to explain.

In fact, aside from these reasons, there were many other details, like how, although the five corpses were disfigured and their limbs scattered, the blood on the ground was clearly visible. Based on how the blood was distributed and the grass was disturbed, it’s clear the team fought closely together, within a diameter of three meters, which is very unusual.

Thus, Lin Feng could determine that the team was killed by people, even if not directly, it was likely an indirect ambush.

Lin Feng even had a feeling that the hunting team members might not have gone far, possibly watching them silently from some corner.
