As soon as the Blood Race member finished speaking, he saw the Inviolable Saber in Lu Ye’s hand with blood still dripping from it. Startled, he asked, “Did the two of you kill him?”

This was indeed a strange incident. How did the blood meals have the guts to kill a Holy Race member? He had lived for many years, but he had never seen such an incident before.

He had detected the fluctuations of Spiritual Power coming from Lu Ye and confirmed that the latter was only a Spirit Creek Realm Master. Lu Ye was supposed to be a resident of a nearby village, so how was he supposed to kill the Holy Race member, considering his cultivation? The Holy Race member was a Cloud River Realm Master, after all.

While the Blood Race member was shocked and doubtful, he suddenly frowned and stared at Lu Ye. “What are you eating?”

The crushing sound coming from Lu Ye’s mouth sounded familiar to the Blood Race member. He had eaten the Blood Crystals of his Race before.

What shocked him was that when the two blood meals saw him, they were not afraid at all. Instead, they appeared tempted.

Finally realising he was in danger, the Blood Race member turned around to flee, but the next moment, he felt a sharp pain in his mind as though someone had struck him with a hammer on the head. He staggered and fell to his bottom.

When he came to his senses, he saw two figures standing before him and looking condescendingly at him with expressionless faces.

“How dare you!” growled the Blood Race member. The Holy Race was noble, so they had never been stared at with disdain by blood meals before. He instantly felt humiliated.

When Dao Thirteen grabbed his shoulder, the Blood Race member felt like his bones were falling apart. Feeling the immense pressure coming from his shoulder, he was finally flustered. Still, he demanded, “Release me! If you dare to harm me, you’ll be doomed!”

Lu Ye examined this obstinate Blood Race member, pondering if he should kill him and get his Blood Crystal or enslave him with Soul Control.

A Blood Crystal was tremendously useful to him. Presently, he could feel the restrictive force in his body dissolving rapidly. In just a short time, his cultivation was restored to the Seventh-Order Spirit Creek Realm, and it hadn’t ended yet.

If he could get another Blood Crystal, he would certainly become a Cloud River Realm Master. But if he did that, he couldn’t get more Blood Crystals.

There was no doubt enslaving the Blood Race member would be a better option. He could use this Blood Race member to look for more people of the same Race and get his hands on more Blood Crystals.

At the thought of this, Lu Ye made up his mind and pointed his fingers at the other man’s forehead.

The Blood Race member was still struggling, but he became obedient after an impatient Dao Thirteen slapped him.

As Lu Ye’s fingers came into contact with his forehead, he activated Soul Control. He could feel the resistance coming from the Blood Race member, but the latter was only a Cloud River Realm Master, so his Divine Soul was weaker than that of Lu Ye.

Several days ago, Lu Ye couldn’t enslave Dao Thirteen because the latter had a stronger Divine Soul. Left with no choice, he used the Sword of Divine Destruction to shatter Dao Thirteen’s Soul Power Shield.

It wouldn’t have to be so troublesome when he dealt with a Blood Race member in the Cloud River Realm. As Soul Control was branded into the Blood Race member’s mind, he gradually stopped struggling until he became unmoving.

Lu Ye retracted his hand. As he felt the connection between the Blood Race member and himself, he knew the Divine Glyph had been successfully built.

If not for the fact that Blood Race members were significantly larger than Humans, he wouldn’t have to put in so much effort. He could just activate the Thousand Faces Glyph and disguise himself as a Blood Race member.

However, there was a huge difference between their sizes, and the skin of Blood Race members was red, which couldn’t be imitated.

The Blood Race member rose to his feet and glanced at Lu Ye. His gaze was full of caution and reverence. Soul Control could be used to enslave the other party’s mind but wouldn’t affect his intelligence. Presently, Lu Ye was inviolable to that Blood Race member. However, he had no idea how to address Lu Ye, so he appeared to be at a loss.

“What’s your name?” Lu Ye asked.

“Zhang Julai,” replied the Blood Race member honestly.

Lu Ye frowned. “Why do the Blood Race members use Human names?”

The Blood Race member that Lu Ye had killed had a Human name as well. At that time, Lu Ye wasn’t bothered, thinking that it was only a coincidence. Now, that didn’t seem to be the case.

Zhang Julai explained, “Human names sound nice and are easy to remember. The Holy Race used different names in the past, but the names were difficult to pronounce, so we discarded them gradually. Now, the norm is that when a Holy Race member kills the first Human, he’ll take his name.”

Lu Ye recalled that he had indeed received such information from the dead Blood Race member. Since the information he had obtained was complicated and tremendous, he couldn’t digest all of it in a short time. As such, he didn’t notice such a convention among the Blood Race members.

This Blood Race member was named Zhang Julai. In other words, a Human had this name in the past.

“What if the Humans they kill have terrible-sounding names?” Lu Ye squinted.

Zhang Julai replied, “Well, we do have such names among the Holy Race members. If we don’t like a name, we can just kill another Human and get a new name.”

It wasn’t troublesome for the Blood Race members to kill some Humans anyway.

Due to this convention, the Blood Race members had all sorts of names, and some of them were peculiar. Most of the time, even the Blood Race members born in the same place didn’t share the same surname, which was odd.

“Take me to your Cave Mansion,” Lu Ye ordered.

Unlike Humans in Jiu Zhou, the Blood Race members didn’t have any Sects or Clans as their cultivation technique was simple. They already knew how to cultivate their powers the moment they were born. It could be said that the cultivation technique was embedded in their veins. As long as they did it step by step and had sufficient resources, they could continue to grow their powers.

There was no doubt they had a huge advantage over Humans in this regard. If Humans wanted to become cultivators, they needed to have the aptitude to do so. Even if they had the aptitude, they couldn’t go far in their cultivation journey if it was bad.

On the other hand, all Blood Race members were cultivators. They could improve their cultivations by refining blood essence or killing other Blood Race members and acquiring their Blood Crystals. The latter was especially beneficial to the Blood Race.

Therefore, they didn’t need any Sects or Seniors to teach them anything. They usually lived together in Cave Mansions. The scale of a Cave Mansion was determined by how many Blood Race members there were and how powerful they generally were.

The Cave Mansions were constantly at war. They wanted to snatch away the other party’s Blood Crystals and Humans in their territory.

To the Blood Race, Humans were like their livestock and cultivation resources. Humans were also used to breed new Blood Race members.

Zhang Julai and the Blood Race member killed by Lu Ye came from different Cave Mansions, so there had been some grudges between them. This village was managed by the Cave Mansion where Zhang Julai lived, so the Humans here were supposedly property of that Cave Mansion.

Since the Blood Race member barged into this place for no reason, Zhang Julai naturally wouldn’t put up with it. During the fight, Zhang Julai got the upper hand, whereas the Blood Race member fled in embarrassment. That was why he came to this village and took away a Human to replenish his power. He didn’t expect to be killed by Lu Ye and Dao Thirteen.

Due to internal strife, many Blood Race members were injured or killed every year. However, the dead Blood Race members would become the nutrients for others of the same Race. Moreover, it was easy to breed new Blood Race members, and it wasn’t difficult for them to cultivate their powers. Therefore, in Blood Refinement Boundary, the number of Blood Race members never decreased as new ones were constantly born.

With Soul Control in place, Zhang Julai naturally wouldn’t disobey Lu Ye’s orders. He then led the two of them to the depths of the mountain.

When the sky brightened, the villagers of Cangnan Village left their houses, but Lu Ye and Dao Thirteen were nowhere in sight. A woman from a particular family had gone missing as well.

The villagers were already used to it, so they were only slightly sad. They then went on to work on the Spirit Farm or headed to the mountain to capture some beasts.

Meanwhile, Zhang Julai activated his blood light and brought the two of them to the deepest part of the mountain. On the rock face, there was a huge cave entrance that looked like the mouth of a beast. Three words were engraved above the entrance.

Bright Moon Cave Mansion was the place where Zhang Julai lived. Lu Ye had asked him many questions while on the way and discovered that more than ten Blood Race members gathered in this place. Most of them were in the Cloud River Realm while several of them were Spirit Creek Realm Masters.

The ruler of the Cave Mansion was a female Blood Race member named Sun Miaozhu, who was a Ninth-Order Cloud River Realm Master. She could be considered the strongest cultivator in Bright Moon Cave Mansion. The area within a radius of 100 kilometres around Bright Moon Cave Mansion was their territory. They managed four to five villages similar to Cangnan Village.

A Blood Race member was guarding the entrance. When he saw Zhang Julai’s Conveyance Light from a distance, he shouted, “Who are you?”

Zhang Julai replied, “It’s me.”

As he spoke, he soon landed in front of the entrance.

When the Blood Race member saw Zhang Julai, he grinned. “It’s you, Brother Zhang.” A look of doubt appeared on his face when he saw Lu Ye and Dao Thirteen. “Who are these two blood meals?”

“They’re my new Blood Slaves,” Zhang Julai lied.

Blood Race members were able to activate a special Blood Seal and brand it into Human cultivators. It was similar to Soul Control, but it didn’t have absolute control over the Humans.

Lu Ye had already heard about Blood Slaves when he was in Soaring Dragon Boundary back then. While on his way to the Cave Mansion, he had discussed with Zhang Julai how to deal with the situation.

The Blood Race member glanced at Dao Thirteen with envy. “You have acute eyesight, Brother Zhang. This is a wonderful blood meal with ample vitality. If you nurture him well, he’ll be immensely useful.”

He then turned to look at Lu Ye and shook his head. “This one is so much weaker.”

It was the first time Lu Ye was regarded with disdain. However, since he was Zhang Julai’s Blood Slave now, he naturally couldn’t react to it. He only stood respectfully behind Zhang Julai.

“Has anything happened at the Cave Mansion recently?” Zhang Julai asked.

The Blood Race member shook his head. “What could happen? Everything’s the same.”

Zhang Julai nodded and entered the Cave Mansion with Lu Ye and Dao Thirteen.

The passageway inside the cave was spacious and not damp. The oil lamps on both walls illuminated the place.

A moment later, they saw many dugouts on both sides of the passageway. The first few dugouts were void of people, and it didn’t look like anyone lived inside them. Nevertheless, Lu Ye soon saw a figure in one of the dugouts.

He took a brief look and wasn’t bothered at first, but he soon stopped in his tracks and furrowed his brows.
